Gaming Goals for the New Year – July 2016 – UPDATE

For me, this year has been the year of just weird months. July was no different as I worked a really crazy schedule, got a promotion at work one week…before being demoted again the next…and tried to game as much as possible to keep my sanity with all the work related drama. This is one of the reasons why I’ve always loved gaming so much, it was just something to break away from reality even if for just a little while. You’re not here though to hear me complain about work or hear about my love of gaming, you’re here to see how I did with my goals for July so let’s get to it.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 59
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 60
Another gaming milestone for me as I hit 60 platinum trophies. I have to say that when I first started trophy hunting, I thought getting 10 was difficult and now here I am sitting pretty with 60 platinum trophies. It’s true that some of them were simple as can be, but there were others that were extremely hard to get. My quest to get 80 is still going though and I have less than half a year to do so.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,169
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,276
At least this month I was able to get over 100 trophies. The way things are going, I’m thinking that I can maybe, just maybe get to the 8,500 especially since I’ve basically given up at work just a little. Why am I going to try so hard and work so hard only to be treated like crap? Anyway, 8,500 is going to be a struggle but I think I can do it.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 93
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 95
Up down, up down, up down. That’s how this number has been going this month which just goes to show you that sometimes DLC just plain sucks. Seeing that I’ve played over 300 games now on my combined systems of PS3, PS4, and PS Vita I really want this number to be higher showing that I was at least able to complete a majority of these games, but with DLC it’s just a pain in the ass. On the bright side though, I did go up two games this month which isn’t bad.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 51.51%
– Ending Completion Rate: 51.87%
Yay! Because this number went up this month. Ok, it’s not a whole lot, but at least it’s something. This completion rating is kind of a pain though because it of course drops when you start a new game before slowly climbing its way back up as you complete the game. It’s an ongoing struggle, but I’m always up for the challenge.

Start and get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 30 backlogged games
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
So…I kind bought Saints Row IV: Re-Elected and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell this month and this task of completing backlogged games was just tossed out the window completely. When I finish with Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, I’ll probably go back to this…probably. Until The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered is released. Then all bets are off.

Get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 20 already started backlogged games.
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 2
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 3
I’ve started Mass Effect 3 this month and was able to complete the money grabbing Omega DLC. I finally was able to turn in that last mission before the game blocked it. On the very last day of July, I was able to get the final three trophies I needed from the Citadel DLC getting my 100% on Mass Effect 3. It only took me 4 years and 4 months to do.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 2
So…another month where I didn’t pre-order anything. I have to get some pre-orders in soon though, but I’m just not wanting this number to go up yet. It’s a struggle especially because there are a bunch of games I want on release date. Ugh…what to do…what to do. I’ll figure something out and hopefully keep this number at 5.

That was it for this month. I was feeling eh about my progress, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. Now for next month, I plan to game as much as possible because I refuse to go out of my way at work anymore. Work has been absoulte crap lately and you can see a little bit more on why it’s been crap as I count down the 500 reasons why I would rather be home playing video games instead of working on Twitter. As always, I’ll let you know how things went next month.
