Gaming Goals for the New Year – September 2016 – Update

What can I say about September. It’s been a crazy month in a year of extremely crazy months, but that’s really nothing new. With the year basically being just about over, it’s hard to think that any of these goals will be accomplished. While I am getting close with some of them, the thought that any of them will be fulfilled by the end of the year is looking grim. Anyway, here’s a breakdown of my goals and how I did this month.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 61
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 62
Another new platinum to add to my collection this month thanks to Far Cry Primal, but hitting that 80 is going to be super difficult. Right now I just have so much going on and I barely get as much time as I was getting to game anymore so this is going to be a hard one. I think that by the end of the year if I can hit 65 – 70, I’ll be a happy camper.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,374
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,463
An ok month for trophies since I couldn’t even hit the 100 mark by 11 trophies. I was hoping by the end of this month I would at least hit 6,500 but that didn’t happen. It’ll probably happen next month but hitting the 8,500 that I had originally planned looks like it’s never going to happen this year. Next year? Definitely, but not this year.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 97
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 97
Why this number stayed the same this month, I have no idea. It could only mean that something on my trophy list added some unnecessary DLC. Thanks random game. Even now the 120 is looking a little eh to me and I’ll be happy to hit 105 by the end of the year.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 52.08%
– Ending Completion Rate: 51.99%
I hit a huge milestone last month, huge, but then just threw it in the garbage this month as I started a bunch of games and just didn’t get the chance to finish them and it brought down my completion rating. This is really my own fault and unless I start finishing up some games, this goal will never be reached. Ever.

Start and get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 30 backlogged games
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
In an attempt to clear up my ever growing backlog, I made this list but as you can see this really did nothing as I just played whatever the hell I wanted anyway. This is frustrating since the pile of games that I have just sitting around is growing and growing. I’m really trying but I don’t know, it’s just not happening. I’ll have to think of something next year that will motivate me to work more on my backlog.

Get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 20 already started backlogged games.
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
This number didn’t go up this month, but I did restart Dragon Age: Origins and complete one of the DLC that I was missing. I have one more to go but I’m taking my time with this game since I love it so much and it’s one of my all time favorites. Yes, I’m dreading the day, which will probably be tomorrow, when I have to enter the Fade, but I’ll be taking my time and I should have at least one more game to add to this within the next few months as I hopefully finish up the last DLC for this game sometime soon.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 3
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 4
Earlier this month I pre-ordered The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition because I just have to have it for the PS4. It’s really as simple as that. I was supposed to pre-order South Park: The Fractured but Whole, but that’s been delayed so I will not be pre-ordering that any time soon. That leaves me with one more game to pre-order if I want this year, but I’m not sure that I will.

There you have it, my progress on my goals for 2016. I’m thinking that a lot of these goals are going to carry over to next year, but that’s ok. I’m kinda happy with my progress this year. I won’t say that it’s been the best gaming year ever. That was actually a couple of years ago before I even started this blog, but that’s another story. Now for the upcoming month, while I will be spending a hell of a lot of time playing Skyrim when it comes out, which isn’t until the end of the month, I plan on spending some time with some backlogged games until then. I’m going to try not to start anything new until Skyrim, but you know how that goes. I’ll let you know how everything works out for me next month.
