Gaming Goals for the New Year – October 2016 – Update

I can’t believe October is already done. The rest of the year is just going to fly by, I know it. While I love this time of the year because the weather is changing, it’s getting colder, finally, and it’s just about that time where I can bundle up and spend a whole day in front of the TV just relaxing and playing some games, I also hate it. I hate it because it makes me wonder where the hell the time went this year. As you get older this question is asked more frequently, but as always that’s not why you’re here. You want to see how I’m doing with the set of goals that I set for myself this year. Let’s take a look at how far I progressed in October.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 62
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 62
It seems like platinum trophies are hard to come by these days. It’s not from my lack of trying or anything like that. I think I’ve just been playing games that don’t have platinum trophies and when I do play games that have platinum trophies, they’re obtainable but I’ve been getting bored so easily that I just stop playing even though I want that platinum trophy. If I’m not having fun, then what’s the point of having the platinum trophy for that game?

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,463
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,542
I really thought I would at least get 100 trophies this month. I really did. I have no idea what happened and unless I spend 24/7 gaming I’m not going to reach this goal this year. As I’ve been saying if I can hit close to 7,000 trophies this year I’ll accept it and keep the 8,500 for my goal next year.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 97
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 99
With the completion of Minecraft: Story Mode and Actual Sunlight, this number increased by two this month. Not bad if you ask me. I’m still thinking that I can hit the 120 by the end of the year. I really wish some of these games would stop adding extra trophies and DLC because it just seems like it doesn’t need it. Anyway, I’ll keep on trying with this goal because I just know I could do it.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 51.99%
– Ending Completion Rate: 52.01%
I was pretty pissed last month when I dropped back down to 51% after struggling to reach 52. Sadly this month wasn’t really an improvement because at the end of the month I started Skyrim. It’s not like I was going to be able to get through all that much of the game that quickly so this number is just blah. It’s a little bit over 52 and I guess that’s ok. Now if I can stay at 52 from now al the way to the end of the year, I’ll be happy.

Start and get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 30 backlogged games
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
Have I mentioned how much I hate my backlogged games? I mean seriously, it’s not even funny at this point. There is literally a pile of games stacked up on my desk just sitting there along with the pile of games in my library just waiting to be downloaded. At this point I’m feeling that I’ll never catch up on my backlog and I have no idea why I made this stupid goal to begin with.

Get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 20 already started backlogged games.
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
This number also stayed the same this month because I really don’t have all that much time to actually work on playing Dragon Age: Origins. I want to at least be a high level when I finish the last DLC that I have to finish because it’ll help me when I switch it over to Nightmare mode. Other than that I’m even regretting adding this to my goals for the year. I’ll have to see next year if this is going to stick around or just be eliminated completely.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 4
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 4
This number basically stayed the same this month because I didn’t pre-order anything. By the end of the year I will meet this goal as I put in my last pre-order. I already know what it is but I’m going to keep it a secret and keep you guys guessing as to what I’m going to be pre-ordering. I will give you a small hint though. It’s a re-release of an old Sega classic. Know what it is? Post your thoughts in the comments section and I’ll let you know if you’re right.

And that was my month. Not that great, but not that bad either. November is a tough one because depending on how things go with work, I can either be gaming a lot or I can be working a lot. If I’m working a lot then these goals are going to be horrible, but if I’m gaming a lot I think I can pick up a lot of the slack that I just let go throughout the year. We’ll see though and I’ll let you know how everything worked out next month.
