So remember how I purchased Dead Island because my “friend” said it would be a cool game for us to play and we needed something new to play but then abandoned me about halfway through? So yeah, I should have been suspicious of the same behavior and realized that she really wasn’t a friend, but when she suggested Dead Island Riptide as a new game for us to play since we kind of played Dead Island, I said why not. You know the deal though, if it’s on this list then I never finished it. Keep reading to find out why.
Dead Island Riptide is basically a continuation of Dead Island. Not really a full whole game, it’s more like an expansion where you continue to use one of four characters, or use a new one that was added, to beat zombies senseless while running around an island doing various different tasks for different people. Talking about the plot of this game would give away the ending to Dead Island, which I don’t like to spoil for people who haven’t gotten there yet, so what I will say is that you’re in a new location, another island, and still immune to becoming a zombie. Like the previous game, the story is iffy at best and is basically there to be there. The ending though is a huge cliffhanger that will probably never be resolved.
I really don’t know why I bought this game. I was perfectly satisfied with the way Dead Island ended and really didn’t need to play another Dead Island game. We’ll get into why I went ahead and bought the remastered version in another edition of this blog, but I purchased this game because my “friend” wanted to play it, with me. She said this time would be different and blah blah blah, so I believed her. Guess what happened? Half way thought I was not only abandoned and left to play the game on my own, but my “friend” decided to privatize her room when playing so that I couldn’t join. After a few messages that she “didn’t see”, I gave up and went on playing this game alone. I eventually finished the story, but never went back to finish up the trophies or play this game again.
As you can see from the image above, I was able to get 22 of the 36 trophies available for this game. Not bad considering I did this in one playthrough. I’m missing a variety of trophies that range from playing all of the main quests with a partner, finishing up the side quests, leveling up, and collecting all of the collectibles. Ironically the trophy completion for this game is at 48% which is the same as Dead Island.
Probability of this game getting played again…0 out of 5.
The only reason why I mark this as a 0 is because I have no one to play this game with and I don’t feel like spending the time to try and find someone to play all of the main quests of this game with. I know it’s lazy since it would only take one more full playthrough to get the platinum trophy for this game and I can take it off my list. It’s really not that hard of a platinum, but still it’s finding that person to play with. I’m pretty sure when they decide to close the servers though there will be a bunch of people trying to get this trophy so I might start playing then.
Now it’s your turn. What did you think about this game? Love it? Hate it? Looking for someone to play all of the main quests with? Let me know down in the comments section below. Now for next week, I was done with these co-op games and basically done with my “friend” at this time, our big blow up and final game played together is arriving shortly, so I decided to go for a game that was single player only. This game just happened to be inFAMOUS. Unfortunately, I never finished it and I’ll let you know why next week.
