This is one of those games that I had heard a lot about and it was on my radar, but I was unsure if I should pay full price for it. When I seen this game go on sale, I picked it up immediately and started playing just to see what all the fuss was about since I had seen other people on my friends list at the time playing and just heard so much about this game. Unfortunately, it was another game that ended up on this list so keep reading to find out why.
Fat Princess is basically a strategy game. There are a bunch of different modes to play on, including a story mode that I probably got about two levels into and then there’s multiplayer mode which is where I spent most of my time playing. In this multiplayer mode, there are two teams of 16 for a total of 32 red and blue players. Your main objective is to rescue your princess from the other team’s camp and bring her back to your camp. Sounds easy right? Wrong, it’s a huge cluster fuck of people running around and just being crazy.
So I tried the single player mode and had no idea what I was doing or what this game was even about. Abandoning the single player mode, I jumped into the multiplayer mode because why the hell not. Turns out because I knew nothing about the game I knew nothing about the multiplayer mode either. What was I supposed to do? What class was I supposed to play? How was I supposed to help my team? I had the answer to none of these questions and after multiple attempts to play this game I just gave up and put it on the shelf telling myself that one day when I had less games to play I would get back to it and figure out how to play.
As you can see from the picture above, I was able to get a total of 2 trophies out of the 21 main trophies for this game, a total of 27 if you count the DLC. So yeah, this just wasn’t my game and I consider myself lucky for getting the trophies that I did when I got them. There are a bunch of other grindy multiplayer trophies for this game are just insane unless you play this game 24/7 for at least a few weeks or maybe even months. There are some trophies for the other modes of this game, but the trophies are mostly for the multiplayer mode.
Probability of this game getting played again…1 out of 5.
I’m never going to run out of games to play at the moment or probably ever so I can’t see myself playing this game again. Also the recent player count is at 11, so I doubt I would even be able to get the multiplayer trophies for this game or even get into a match. This will forever be one of those games that I was just curious about, tried it, found out I was bad at it and didn’t understand it, and gave up. That’s ok, because some games are just like that.
Now it’s your turn. Did you love this game? Hate this game? Understand this game? Let me know down in the comments section below. After playing this game I had a few good weeks of gaming where everything I played I got the platinum trophy for so it was a while before I actually had a game that I didn’t finish and that game was XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I absolutely loved this game to pieces, but still never finished it so come back next week so I can tell you why.
I actually did enjoy this game. But not the multiplayer so much. It was all about seeing how your army can morph into something more on the fly. But granted I was more into that aspect than saving the princess.
It seems like the people who were playing the multiplayer while I was playing weren’t really into saving the princess and I thought that was the point so I was always lost. 😀 Glad you enjoyed the game though, I might get back into the single player one of these days if I ever feel the need to, or it’ll just sit on my PS3 until the end of time.
