I Never Finished…Dungeon Defenders… Because

Dungeion Defenders

I had originally downloaded this game way back in 2012 when it was free and this was one of those games that I would play on a daily basis. I loved this game and everything about it even though I never really wanted to download it in the first place. I was going to let this one slip by until she who will no longer be mentioned on this blog coerced me into downloading it. I did and guess what? Just like all of those other games I was coerced into downloading this one was also never finished.

Dungeon Defenders is a mix of a tower defense game and RPG that allows you to play one of four characters. Each level is different in this game and in each level you’ll place traps and set yourself up to defeat wave after wave of monsters before the final boss comes in order to protect the Eternia Crystal. You’re able to pick the level of difficulty that you want to play on and as the difficulty goes up, so do the amount of monsters and it gets even harder to protect the Eternia Crystal.

Like I said I was coerced into downloading this game and at the time it was fine because I had a group of people that I was playing with and since this game is meant to be played with other people, it was nice to have three people to play with. Our group slowly dissolved and then it was down to two and then eventually just me and I gave up. I did love this game though and had an absolute blast playing it when I had a group. This is one of those games that were meant to be played with friends and while I had them, it was great. Playing alone though isn’t so fun and you’ll quickly learn that as you can’t possibly manage every little thing that’s going on in this game. After I lost my group and I was going through this phase of finishing games, I picked this game up again and decided to finally finish it. I played with a bunch of random’s who were pretty cool and I was going along my happy way progressing in this game until the servers were cutoff. Thanks for that Trendy Entertainment! Anyway, that’s the main reason why I never finished this game. The servers were just shutdown and this game is really unplayable by yourself.

There are a total of 57 trophies for this game and I was able to get 42 of them. 42! I was so close and I’m only missing some difficulty related trophies, trophies for leveling up all the characters, and collecting all the pets. I was so close to getting these trophies! It really makes me mad that I was sinking so many hours a day into this game only to have the servers go out when I was 15 trophies away from the platinum! You totally can’t see it, but while I write this, I’m shaking my head in disgust.

Probability of this game getting played again…0 out of 5.

The servers for this game are closed and there is no way that I could ever get the platinum trophy for this game on my own. Sure I can play with three other people sitting next to me, but that would be way to hard and trying to teach this game to someone could take such a long time. Anyway, I have no interest in doing this or even playing the game again for that matter. All I can say is that it was fun while it lasted, but this game will never be touched again unless Trendy Entertainment decides to open the servers again for whatever reason.

Now it’s your turn. Love this game? Hate this game? Pissed at Trendy Entertainment for letting the servers be shut down? Let me know down in the comments section below. Now for next week, a game that I bought against my best judgement. This was an impulse buy of a game and while I really didn’t regret it in the end, I still never finished it. Anyway, next week I’ll let you know why I never finished Defiance.
