This was another one of those games that I waited a really long time to play. Not because it took a long time to make, but it just took me a really long time to buy. I really have no idea why, but it just did. That happens sometimes with games. They just take a really long time to actually buy, especially when you’re broke. When this game finally went on sale I knew it was time to pick it up, but like many who have played this game I never finished it. Keep reading to find out why.
In Catherine, you play Vincent. Vincent is having some trouble in his normal every day life and is having trouble with his relationship with Katherine because she wants more than what he’s giving her. That leads him to not only have nightmares that you’ll have to navigate in a puzzle platforming area, but it will also lead him to cheat on Katherine with Catherine. Confused yet? The nightmares will continue and each night will be a different nightmare and a different puzzle for you to complete. Depending on how you play the game there are a bunch of different outcomes in this puzzle platforming / RPG type game.
I have to say that I loved this game. I really did. I thought it was amazingly done and I just loved the story. I could have done without some of the cut scenes being as long as they were, but I truly loved this game and thought it was amazing. I’ve only played this game once and that’s on me because to tell the truth even on easy/normal this game is hard. This game being that hard is one of the reasons why I never finished it and the other reason that I never finished it was because as much as I loved it, I just felt like it was one of those one and done type games even though there are different endings to see. I feel like I got the ending that I wanted and since you would have to replay the whole game to see the different endings, I just didn’t see the point at the time.
As you can see from the picture above, I was able to get 21 out of 50 trophies in my first and only playthrough which isn’t bad at all. This gives me a B ranking and I’m pretty happy with that. I’m basically just missing the different endings trophies, helping people trophies, difficulty trophies, some random trophies, babel trophies, and Rapunzel trophies. It sounds like a lot, but really it’s not. This game just takes a lot of work and dedication.
Probability of this game getting played again…4 out of 5.
I think that some of these games that I mark in my mind as one and done just need some time to sit and not be played before I get that itch to go back and play them again. This is one of those games. It’s been a while since I’ve played it. The last time I played it was way back in 2013, so I wouldn’t mind revising this game when I had some extra time on my hands to sit down and truly enjoy this game again.
Now it’s your turn. Did you love this game? Hate it? What ending did you get on your first try? Let me know down in the comments section below and for next week, another game that I waited what felt like ages to play. When I got a coupon to take some money off of it, when Best Buy had a gaming rewards type of subscription service, it felt like it was just calling me to go and purchase this game, so I did. Turns out I never finished it and next week I’ll let you know why Metro: Last Light has been added to this list.
