MegaCon 2018 – Autograph Session – Fred Tatasciore

Fred Tatasciore Autograph

This was my last autograph session for Friday and it was definitely well worth it for this Mass Effect fangirl. So here’s the thing, I’m not much of an Overwatch fan, but if you know anything about me it’s that I love Mass Effect and it just so happens that Fred Tatasciore was the original Mass Effect villain before the real threat of the reapers and that horrible Mass Effect 3 ending. I was just as excited to meet Fred and collect another autograph on my N7 helmet poster as I was to meet Mark Meer, which you can read about here.

The line for Fred was long which was where my trusty VIP badge came into play because everyone was lining up for Soilder 76 while I was lining up for Saren. I enjoyed hearing the people before me talk to Fred and kind of have a new respect for people that play Overwatch because they are so into it and very much into his character. One of these days I might get into Overwatch and give his character a try. Anyway, while I waited, I did have a nice chat with his handler and tried to get information on how to do what he did. He was pretty tight lipped about how he came into the job, and wouldn’t say much, but other than that we actually had a pleasant conversation since this wasn’t the first time I had seen him with voice actors and at MegaCon.

When it was finally time to meet Fred, I unveiled my N7 helmet poster and told him that I thought that he was the best villain in the whole series because he was the one who started it all. He thanked me in his Saren voice before we chatted a little bit about the game and his character. He then asked if he could sign my poster and put a special message from Saren on it. This fangirl was once again over the moon and said yes. After an awesome meet and greet, it was time for Friday to be over because Saturday was going to be one hell of a day.

The Countdown to MegaCon 2018 – Part 6

MegaCon is less than a month away and I have to say that even though I’m not too excited about the guest list this year as I was in the years past, I’m still pretty hyped to go and have a jam packed schedule that I’m going to try and keep. Anyway, my last blog ended with the announcement of Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor. Since then there have been some more announcements, so let’s get into them.

Next up was the typical annoucment of a bunch of voice actors that were kind of just bulked together with two main characters from The Little Mermaid. I really don’t like when they do this because it makes people who aren’t looking all that much at the actual website, like I do, kind of miss out on the other voice actors that are going to be there. If you’re going to make announcements, I think that there should be one made for each person. It gets you more attention on social media and gives your guests the credit they deserve.

Jodi BensonChristopher Daniel BarnesSusan EganJeremy ShadaVanessa Marshall

So from the Little Mermaid we have, Jodi Benson and Christopher Barnes, who was at MegaCon last year. This is kind of an eh type of moment because I know they are two iconic characters from an iconic Disney movie, but it’s just not my thing. Anyway, also it wasn’t announced but just posted on their website that other voice actors including Susan Egan known for Disney’s Hercules, Jeremy Shada known for Adventure Time, and Vanessa Marshall from the animated Star Wars would also be attending. These are all a pass for me, but it’s always nice to see voice actors attending these events.

Next up was a big one for Star Wars fans, not so much for me, but that’s usually how it goes when it come to announcements most of the time. This really doesn’t upset me because if I got excited over every single person that was going, I would be spending a lot of time and money trying to get autographs and photo-ops.

Billy Dee Williams

That’s right, the one and only Lando from Star Wars, Billy Dee Williams, will be putting in an appearance at MegaCon this year. This is pretty cool and I’m sure there will be a ton of people waiting at his line to see him..

Next up was something unexpected and kind of a goof on the MegaCon crew. This isn’t the first year that MegaCon has WWE stars, but it is the first year since Fan Expo took over that there will be WWE stars attending the event. There are a bunch of them and I was really excited for one, Chris Jericho, until he said on Twitter himself that he didn’t even know about this and that he basically wouldn’t be attending and then all of the tweets and posts and everything else about him was extinguished from the site. Other WWE stars are attending though and I actually know one of them since I’m not as big of a WWE fan as I used to be so I will be doing one autograph and photo-op.

John CenaAlexa BlissBraun StrowmanShinsuke Nakamura

John Cena, Alexa Bliss, Braun Stroan, and Shinsuke Nakamura will all be attending MegaCon. I have to say I have no idea who the last three people are, but I know who John Cena is. I never really liked him as a wrestler, funny that I’m going to meet him though, but I do respect him as a person because of everything that he does for our troops and the Make a Wish foundation. Because of that there’s an extra photo-op and autograph to add to the list.

Next up was the announcement of the same Anime stars that were announced for the third time, but there was also some more Anime stars added to the list, just not announced in the same way which again is wrong. You have to announce these other people as well because they should get the recognion they deserve especially if they are attending your event.

Maile FlanaganMax MittlemanVeronica Taylor

Maile Flanagan, Max Mittleman, and Veronica Tayler will all be attending MegaCon. These are some pretty high profile Anime voice actors and for them to not get the recognition they deserve from the actual event just kind of sucks. But they’re getting it here.

Next up was the announcement of two high profile video game voice actors that got my attention, because one of the reasons I started attending this event was not for the high profile actors that they have, but for the voice actors. I wanted to see the people behind the voice that I spent 60+ playing as. Anyway, if I’m this excited it must be that these voice actors are from one of my favorite games, which they totally are. They’re from Mass Effect, which was just exciting because I love meeting Mass Effect voice actors.

Mark MeerFred Tatasciore

This time around we have Mark Meer, who plays Man Shepard, and Fred Tatasciore, who plays Saren. If you read this blog you know that I have never played a full playthrough of Mass Effect as Man Shepard. I tried once to get into Miranda’s pants, but I just couldn’t. Anyway, I do enjoy the other voices that Mark Meer plays in the various Mass Effect games, and my absolute favorite is Niftu Cal. Fred Tatascoire is also amazing as the first villain in the Mass Effect series and I’m excited to meet both of them.

I have to say that since the announcements have started, I’ve been waiting for my Firefly announcement. It seems like it isn’t a MegaCon without someone from Firefly. So where the hell was my Firefly announcement? It was coming a couple of days after the Mass Effect voice actor announcement and this one was a big one for me and got me pretty excited.

Jewel Staite

Jewel Staite is our Firefly representative this year and I’m totally excited to meet her. Firefly is just one of those shows that lives on even though it was cancelled so long ago. Anyway, I’m excited to get my Firefly poster signed for the second time, the first was Gina Torres last year, and this time get a photo-op in.

This next announcement, which just happened yesterday was kind of a shocker for me because usually at this time the announcements start to die down because of the time frame. Anyway, this one was pretty huge as he is a big Walking Dead star and being a fan of the show I’m always excited to see some Walking Dead stars at MegaCon.

Norman Reedus

That’s right we’re going to try this one more time as Norman Reedus has been announced that he was attending MegaCon. This is actually the third year in a row that he’s been announced. The first year he showed and I regret not waiting on line to get his autograph, but seriously the line was huge. So huge that they were giving tickets for people to come back because they couldn’t squeeze everyone in. The second year he cancelled, and here’s hoping that he’ll actually show this time and I can finally get my autograph and photo-op.

The MegaCon Chair!

MegaCon Chair

There has been so many things added to this chair since the last time I posted about MegaCon that I don’t even know what’s on here anymore and it’s just become one big pile of things to bring with me. I’m thinking my backpack may be too small since most appearances are on Saturday and Sunday. This kind of makes things crazy because you really only have Saturday to get autographs. After photo-ops on Sunday the guests like to high tail it out of there so that means a lot of autographs on Saturday and a lot of things to bring.

That’s it for now and I’m not expecting much more in the announcement department since the show is less than a month away, but if there is anything exciting going on, I’ll make sure to blog about it and let you know if I’m excited or not. Anyway, if you’re going to MegaCon drop me a line down in the comments section and let me know if you’re excited about this year’s lineup.
