Gaming Goals for the New Year – February 2019 – Update

This past month was just great when it came to gaming. I had a bunch of weeks where I was able to get over 80 trophies, I racked up a bunch of platinum trophies, and got a bunch of games out of my backlog. I couldn’t have asked for a better month and just think it was February so it was an extremely short month. Enough of that though and let’s get onto my goals for the year.

Gaming Goals for 2019

Have a total of 175 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 102
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 110
That’s right, I was able to get not one, not two but eight platinum trophies this month. This was thanks to all of the POWGI games that I played that had double platinum’s. This was great. I don’t see this happening next month, but it was a great way to start the second month of the year and to progress on my goals getting me a lot closer to that 175 mark.

Have a total of 10,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 9,176
– Ending # of Trophies: 9,417
I killed it this month in the trophy department as well since I was able to get well over 100 trophies. Hell I even broke my own record and was able to get 241 trophies. This was just amazing in such a short month and it really helped me progress on my goal. I have no doubt that I’ll hit the 10,000 mark this year. Hitting the extra 500 to make it 10,500 might be a little more complicated, but we’ll see how it goes.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 55.47%
– Ending Completion Rate: 56.06%
This goal is also progressing nicely this year as I was able to go up to 56% which was just great. I feel good about my overall completion rating. Sure 75% is still a ways to go, but it’s not impossible and I feel like it’s something that can be reached eventually.

Start and Complete 20 new games that are not in my backlog

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 2
Last month I bought Mixups by POWGI and was able to complete both the PS4 Version of the game and the PS Vita version of the game making me start and complete 2 games that were not in my backlog. I call that a win and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to reach my goal this year even though I don’t really plan on buying that many games. You never know though.

Play and Complete 10 games that have already been started from my backlog.

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 1
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 3
This number was bumped up by two this month as I completed both Word Search by POWGI for the PS4 and the PS Vita and I stated those a long time ago last year. This was great as it helped with this number, I just need to go back into my backlog of games that I already started and finish up a few more for this goal to be achieve for the whole year.

Start and Complete 15 games that are in my backlog.

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 4
Word Sudoku by POWGI and One Word by POWGI were both sitting in my backlog for the PS4 and PS Vita just begging to be played, so I played them this month and was able to finish them as well. That means that I started and finished 4 games that were in my backlog meaning I only need to do this with 11 more games this year. Right now I’m working on LEGO The Incredibles and should be able to add this as completed by next month.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 1
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 2
I did really good again this month because I’m sticking to my plan of only pre-ordering one game a month if that month has something in it that I want. This time around I pre-order Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. I can’t wait for it to come out and am pretty excited about it.

And that was my month. It was a pretty great month and although I think that things will slightly slow down this month as I have a lot of non gaming related shit going on, I still think that this past month made up for any mishaps I may suffer from this month. Anyway, I’ll let you know how things turned out for me next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – January 2019 – UPDATE

This month was an OK month for me gaming wise. I feel like I got a bunch done, but I also feel like I didn’t get anything done at the same time. This sucks, but it was the first month of the year and I was super busy with work and just life. Life gets in the way sometimes and I also realized that I had to cut some of my goals, because I couldn’t keep track of them. I’m totally face palming right now by the way. Anyway, I had to cut the goals that had to do with ranks because I played a bunch of games, but didn’t record their starting ranks and then the ranks that I ended with, so we’re going to pretend like I never even mentioned those goals. Shh… Anyway, let’s see how I progressed on my goals this month.

Gaming Goals for 2019

Have a total of 175 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 101
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 102
I was only able to get one platinum trophy last month, but I promise that this month I can almost guarantee at least 6 platinum trophies. I know that sounds super ambitious for me, and believe me it is, but I have some games stored up that only need a few trophies and a few hours so this will bump up my platinum count so I’m not worried about this goal at the moment.

Have a total of 10,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 9,075
– Ending # of Trophies: 9,176
I have no idea how I got over 100 trophies last month, but it totally happened and I’m not going to complain about it. Now with my plan on getting 6 platinum trophies for this month, I might be able to either match this number or go past it. I’m not sure yet since I haven’t crunched the numbers but we’ll see how things turn out at the end of this very short month.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 55.27%
– Ending Completion Rate: 55.47%
This is more of an ultimate gaming goal for me instead of a yearly one. I would love to one day have a 75% completion rating, but for now I’ll take what I can get and I went up a full .2% last month so I’m going to take it. This number will probably see another spike for this month and then after that I think it might be all bets are off, but we’ll see.

Start and Complete 20 new games that are not in my backlog

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
Right now I don’t have any new games. Surprising right? Everything is backlog because a new year means everything that I bought last year gets tossed into the backlog folder. I think once I start adding new games into my collection that I can start working on this goal, but for now it stays at 0 as I have no new games. Sad right?

Play and Complete 10 games that have already been started from my backlog.

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 1
I’ve already made some progress on this goal as I had started Dying Light a really long time ago and finally got the platinum trophy for it this month making it complete. Go me! I think this goal will be super easy as I plan on getting those 6 platinum trophies this month and three of them are for games that I’ve already started so boom, this number will already be up to 4 by the time February is over.

Start and Complete 15 games that are in my backlog.

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
I haven’t even had the chance to start a new game in January. I wanted to so badly, but it just didn’t happen. This sucks and I’m really desperate to play something new, especially something from my backlog and something that I bought on sale during the holidays. I’ll get to it this month but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to complete anything.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 0
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 1
I did really good this past month and only pre-ordered Anthem. I’m not even sure I’m going to like this game, I have to be honest and say that I didn’t really like the VIP demo, but I’m going to wait until the game comes out to give it a chance. Anyway, I’m also doing this new things where I only pre-order one game a month if it’s a game that I want day one. Everything else will have to wait and I’m pretty sure I won’t even hit anywhere close to 10 this year.

There you have it. My numbers show that I made decent progress on my goals, but that doesn’t mean that I feel like I made progress. To tell the truth I’ve ben working so much lately, I’ve barely had time to put on my PlayStation and the last trophy that I got was 5 days ago. That being said, things won’t be slowing down for me for a while, but I do need to make some time for gaming because all work and no play makes me and this blog very boring. Come back next month to see how I did in February.

Gaming Goals for the New Year 2019

This year this blog turns five and I’m pretty excited about it. As I said the other day, I was supposed to post this blog yesterday but made some quick changes, in my final count of my goals for 2018, which you can read here, this year is going to be different. A lot of ways gaming felt like a chore to me last year and that’s never a good thing because gaming should be fun. I want to make gaming fun again and that’s one of my major goals for this year. Making gaming fun again. I used to love playing new games and trying new things, but then things got a little out of hand. There were too many games, I never thought that I would say that, too many things to do, and too much pressure. This year, while I still have goals, they really aren’t going to be a priority to me. Just something to see if I can do. If I can get it done great, if not then I don’t. The one thing that’s important though is having fun. Anyway, onto the goals.

Gaming Goals for 2019

Have a total of 175 platinum trophies.

I was barely able to hit 101 platinum trophies last year, so what makes me think that I can hit 175 this year? I’m not really sure. This is just a number, a random number that I had in my head and just threw it out there. I would love to be able to get 74 platinum trophies this upcoming year. Will it happen? Probably not, but the possibility of it happening is still there and I’m not going to pressure myself into doing it either. We’ll see what happens and if it happens it happens, if it doesn’t then it doesn’t.

Have a total of 10,500 trophies.

I’m raising the stakes a little bit this year as I try to get 1,500 trophies, but I don’t think that this is going to be a problem. As a promise to make gaming fun again, this means that I’m probably going to be playing a lot more games. If I don’t find them fun or interesting I’m not going to keep playing them just to play them. I’m going to move on. I think that this will overall get me more trophies and not keep me stuck playing a game that I’m not liking in order to finish it. Maybe this number is too low, maybe it’s still too high. We’ll see by the end of the year.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%.

So I ended the year with having an overall completion rating of over 55% which was a huge milestone for me, but it was also a lot of work. This wasn’t fun and I know you’re probably thinking that if I want to make gaming fun why would I still add this goal onto my list? I do it because it’s a number that I strive for. I know going in that I might never hit this goal and that’s fine. If I’m having fun then I’m not going to care that much about this number, but other goals that I have listed below will point to why this number might go up.

Start and Complete 20 new games that aren’t in my backlog.

Last year I kind of outdid myself as I planned to start and complete 10 new games and ended up starting and completing 13 new games. This year I figured that since there are a bunch of games coming out, why not up the ante a bit and make this goal 20. While this won’t improve my completion rating, it’ll make me play some new games that will be out there and I’m really looking forward to some new games that are coming out.

Play and Complete 10 games that have already been started from my backlog.

This goal is a little different because it’s going to push me to go back and get those few trophies that I’m missing on some backlogged games that I’ve already started but haven’t finished for whatever reason. This is different from last year’s goal which was to just complete 25 games from my backlog. This is one of those goals that will make me go back to games that I was playing and enjoying, but stopped for whatever reason. This is one of those goals that will also help with my completion rating.

Start and Complete 15 games that are in my backlog.

This is a new goal that I want to try out this year because a lot of games just sit in my backlog forever and I never actually end up playing them. They just sit there. So this year I not only want to start some of these games but I would actually like to finish them. As always, these games have to be purchased before January 1st of this year in order to be considered my backlogged games. This is also one of those goals where if I start something that I don’t like, I will stop playing.

Get 10 games that have either an E or an F ranking on PSNProfiles.com up to a B ranking.

This is where the completion rating thing might go up. I feel that a lot of games that I write about on my I Never Finished…Because blog are there because I didn’t give them enough time. I want to try these games again, even if I never had any intention of ever playing them again and just try them. If I get trophies for them I would like to do so enough that I get at least a B ranking on them. If I find out that I still don’t like them, then I don’t like them and I move on.

Get 5 games that have either a D or C ranking on PSNProfiles.com up a B ranking.

This is another way that my completion rating might go up. This is also another one of those things where sometimes I do want to play games that I never finished, but really don’t have a reason to do so. This will not only give me a reason, but it will help with my overall completion rating and even make me find a gem of a game that I’ve been missing out on for whatever reason. Like I said before, if I’m not feeling the game, then that’s it.

Get 3 games that have a B ranking on PSNProfiles.com up to an A ranking.

This is the final way that my completion rating might go up. This should be an easy thing to do as I have a bunch of games that I actually like that are sitting at a B ranking and can easily go up to an A ranking if I just take the time to go and play them. I’m really looking forward to these as it’ll give me a chance to play some older games that are just sitting around. For the last three goals I have over 300 games to choose from so this should be fun.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

This is the little tweaking that I had to do because there were just too many games coming out next month that I wanted day one but then decided that I can do with just two of them. Even then I’m playing so many new games now that I’m not sure I can get to the two I want to pre-order. While this is going to be tough, I think if I make a list of the games that I want to get and get them later on in the year when they’re on sale I’ll do just fine. This is what I have planned so far, and it’s really my hope that I can just stick to the 10 and not just start pre-ordering a bunch of games that I feel like I have to have. Here’s what I have so far:
1. Far Cry New Dawn
2. Anthem
3. ???
4. ???
5. ???
6. ???
7. ???
8. ???
9. ???
10. ???

This year is all about making gaming fun again because last year at times gaming just felt like a chore and it should never feel like that. A lot of things got in the way for making it fun for me and I want all of that to end and go back to doing things how I used to. While I did set goals for myself, if I don’t’ accomplish them then I don’t. The main point is that I have fun and if I accomplish some goals in the process then I’ll be happy that I did. I’m really looking forward to this year and seeing what the year brings. Come back next month for my first update on my 2019 goals.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – December 2018 – FINAL

I can’t believe that I’ve been doing this blog series for 4 whole years now and not only do I really enjoy it, but it really pushes me to play games. Not that I need the extra push, but it also does something else that I’ll discuss in my next blog which is about my goals for next year. Anyway, let’s get onto my final numbers for 2018 and see where I ended up.

Gaming Goals for 2018

Have a total of 125 platinum trophies. – FAILED

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 100
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 101
I was able to add one more platinum trophy to my count for the year making me past the 100 mark. While I’m extremely proud of finally being able to say that I have over 100 platinum trophies, I still didn’t hit my goal. It’s not that bad considering that I started the year off with having only 85 platinum trophies and ended the year with 101. With a total gain of 16 platinum trophies, I would call that a small victory.

Have a total of 10,000 trophies. – FAILED

– Starting # of Trophies: 8,982
– Ending # of Trophies: 9,075
Finally I hit over the 9,000 mark and it only took years upon years upon years to do. I feel like this is a huge accomplishment and even though I didn’t come close to hitting my goal of 10,000 trophies, I did go from starting the year with 8,074 trophies to ending with 9,075. That’s well over 1,000 trophies so I also think that this is a small victory and there’s always next year to hit the 10,000 mark.

Have 175 games completed at 100% – FAILED

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 145
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 145
I didn’t finish any games this month, which was kind of a bummer, but sometimes it happens. This wasn’t all that bad considering that I started the year of with having only 128 games completed to 100%. That’s 17 full games that I completed, not to mention the games that came off this list because they added DLC that I didn’t purchase. I would also call this a small win because at least I was able to say that I fully completed 17 games this year.

Have an overall completion rating of 75% – FAILED

– Starting Completion Rate: 55.20%
– Ending Completion Rate: 55.27%
I’m so happy with this number, mostly because this is what it was as of December 31st before I started playing games some new games. This number is totally going to be destroyed this year, but at least I can say that I finally got this number past 55%. This is a huge accomplishment even though I still haven’t hit the illusive 75% rate considering that I started the year at 54.38%. I’m really happy with this and can’t wait for it to be destroyed within the upcoming weeks.

Start and Complete 10 new games that are not in my backlog – COMPLETED!

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 13
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 13
This goal was completed in November so I’m happy with the number that I was able to get. I will say that I thought I would be able to complete more new games this year, but a lot of them just went right in my backlog which is growing to new heights with each passing day it seems. Anyway, at least I was not only able to accomplish this goal, but also crush it and get more than I wanted.

Play and complete 25 RANDOM games in my backlog – FAILED

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 8
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 8
Trying to complete backlogged games is so hard especially when new games are released constantly. Anyway, I did the best that I could this year and was able to take 8 games that were sitting in my backlog and finish them. It’s not the 25 that I wanted, but that’s 8 games that are no longer sitting in my backlog.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales – COMPLETED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 7
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 7
I’m really proud of myself as I was able to keep this under goal this year. Pre-ordering games really takes a toll on the wallet and it’s something that I do a lot of because there are a bunch of games that I like to have day one. This kind of sucks, but I think that having a limit and sticking to it not only helps at the end of the year, because I can buy more games when they go on sale, but it helps save some money too and we can all do always do a little more of that.

I was only able to complete two goals last year, but I have to say that I’m really proud of myself for doing so. Last year wasn’t the greatest of years for me and I used gaming as a way to escape, but it also became a chore in some way’s. I’ll talk about that in my next blog as I unveil my gaming goals for 2019. I’m really looking forward to this new year though as I set some different goals for myself while keeping some the same. Come back tomorrow to see what my goals for 2019 will be.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – October 2018 – UPDATE

Another month has come to a close and it’s really hard to believe that it has. This has been a crazy year so far and as everyone already knows, a lot of my goals are far from being accomplished. While I’m sort of fine with this, there is that little nagging voice in the back of my mind that says that I can do better. Here’s a breakdown of how I did this month.

Gaming Goals for 2018

Have a total of 125 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 95
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 96
While I didn’t make as much progress on this goal as I did last month, I still moved up one notch and hit my 96th platinum. Only 4 more to go until I hit 100. I’m not really sure how this is going to go seeing that I’m playing some huge open world games that require a bunch of time which is what I’m always short on. I really want to hit that 100 goal though, so we’ll see how this goes.

Have a total of 10,000 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 8,759
– Ending # of Trophies: 8,854
While I didn’t hit 100 trophies this month, I came pretty damn close and I think the final two months of the year will be the nail in the coffin as I hit at least 9,000 trophies which is what I’ve been striving for since I know for a fact I cannot hit 10,000 trophies this year, but then again there’s always next year for that.

Have 175 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 138
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 140
This number moved up two more games this month, it would have been up one more, but Spider-Man decided to add some new trophies and that game has been gone from the moment that I platinumed it. There’s no going back for that game, but I can still move forward and completing another 10 games maybe difficult, but it’s something I’m going to strive for so that I at least hit 150 completed games.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 54.67%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.72%
I really can’t believe how much this number went up this month. I’m seriously amazed that it did. I’m not in anyway complaining, but at this point I’ll take whatever I can get when it comes to this crazy number. This might be because I started and finished two small games, but like I said I’ll take whatever I can get with this numer.

Start and Complete 10 new games that are not in my backlog – COMPLETED!

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 8
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 10
This goal is officially completed! I couldn’t be happier as at least I accomplished one whole goal this year. This is mainly because I started and finished both Doodle Devil and I, Zombie this past month. I am completely surprised by this and am just blown away that I was able to accomplish this before the end of the year.

Play and complete 25 RANDOM games in my backlog

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 6
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 6
I’m pretty sure this number isn’t going anywhere, but you never know. Playing two open world games at once is very time consuming and to even think about playing something different at this point is just a little insane. Even if this is all I finish this year, I’m just happy that I was able to get 6 games out of my backlog.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 6
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 7
This number only went up by one this month because I’m pretty tapped out at this point. I’m so tapped out that I won’t even be pre-ordering Fallout 76 and will be waiting for it to go on sale. It’s part of being an adult. A really shitty part, but still part of being an adult.

So that was my month. I’m over the moon that I accomplished at least one of my goals, and that I progressed on a bunch of other goals. While I’m not going to accomplish all of my goals this year, I never do, I’m glad that I was able to make a dent in some of the numbers that I came up with at the beginning of the year. This upcoming month I’m going to try and finish Assassin’s Creed Odyssey completely while going back and finishing up a few little games that have been left here and there with a few trophies needed to get while I play Red Dead Redemption in the middle. We’ll see how things go and I’ll be giving you my final update next month before my final totals the beginning of January.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – September 2018 – UPDATE

I was pretty nervous about this month actually. The year is just about over and my goals are basically not even close to being accomplished. I’ve made minimum progress on these goals at best and things just haven’t been going my way. Then there was the fact that towards the end of the month I binge bought a bunch of games knowing that I would have new games to play in October. What did I get myself into this past month? Anyway, keep reading to see how I progressed on my goals.

Gaming Goals for 2018

Have a total of 125 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 91
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 95
After getting two platinum trophies last month, there was no way I thought I would be able to make that much progress again for another month but I completely surprised myself and not only got two platinum trophies, but four! At this point I’m really confided that I can at least hit that 100 mark by the end of the year and work towards getting past 100 next year. I’m so close to my triple digit number at this point that I’m trying extremely hard to reach it. I want to be a member of the 100 platinum club too!

Have a total of 10,000 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 8,592
– Ending # of Trophies: 8,759
I totally crushed this goal again as I was able to go well over the 100 mark and almost hit the 200 mark. I’m extremely proud of myself since this has been an extremely rare occurrence as of late and I’ll basically take it. I’m really close to hitting the 9,000 mark and I’ll be happy once I hit it and make some progress towards 10,000. Now getting to the 10,000 mark is going to be a stretch this year, but I’ll be well on my way towards it by the end of the year.

Have 175 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 135
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 138
Again, another goal that I actually crushed this month, even with the minor setback of one my finished games getting DLC, I was able to add three finished games to this list bringing my total up and making me get even closer to my goal. As I’ve said before, I know this goal of 175 is far-fetched so I’ll be happy with hitting 150 which at this point looks really do-able.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 54.65%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.67%
This time the weirdness with this number is completely on me because I started a bunch of games that I came nowhere near completing at the end of the month. I totally binge bought a bunch of games the past few weeks of the month and started them knowing good and well that I would never get close to finishing them in September. I might finish them in October and hopefully this number will go way up.

Start and Complete 10 new games that are not in my backlog

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 5
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 8
I am now two games away from this goal! I’m extremely pleased with myself as I was able to both start and finish three games that I started this year including Steven Universe: Save the Light, The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection, and God of War. All of these games were purchased this year and I’m super excited that I was able to finish them and not add them to my growing list of backlogged games. At this point I would be extremely surprised if I didn’t reach this goal.

Play and complete 25 RANDOM games in my backlog

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 6
This goal is always hard because it means playing a bunch of older games that I might or might not have any inkling of interest to play anymore, but I do try to get things done no matter how hard it is. I finally was able to move this number up one tick at least this month as I finished Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. No matter what though, with this number I’m always happy because it means that I at least got some games out of my backlog, not as many as I wanted, but at least it’s something.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 4
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 6
This number only went up by two this month and I would say that I’m doing pretty well when it comes to pre-orders. At this point I’ve only pre-ordered Life is Strange 2 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I really only expect this number to go up another two games as I finish out my year with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Fallout 76. I’m not really planning on pre-ordering anything else, but time will tell and if I do pre-order something else at least I’ll still have two games left for my goal so I shouldn’t go over it.

And that was my month. It was pretty awesome as I really progressed on my goals. I had some minor setbacks, which you can’t even tell due to some streaming issues, but other than that I did pretty well for myself and I’m happy about that. Next month I’m going to try my hardest to do the same even though I’m not sure how that’s going to work out because I will be gone from gaming for a few days, but I’ll tell you more about that next month, and I’ll also tell you how my goals progressed.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – August 2018 – UPDATE

I have to say that I had a really great August. I was skeptical when the month first started because I’ve been in this trophy slump for a long time and just a gaming funk for most of the year. This month things changed and I really progressed on my goals which made me super happy as a gamer. Let’s take a look and see how I progressed in my goals for the month.

Gaming Goals for 2018

Have a total of 125 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 89
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 91
This was one of those rare months where I not only got one platinum trophy, but I got two platinum trophies! How awesome was that, I totally dedicated myself to working my on platinum trophies, while still playing new games and I succeeded completely. I’m extremely happy with myself this month and even though I probably won’t hit that 125 mark, I still think I can reach 100 platinum trophies by the end of the year which is super exciting.

Have a total of 10,000 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 8,479
– Ending # of Trophies: 8,592
I crushed this goal this month as I was finally able to get over 100 trophies in one month. I’m extremely proud of myself as I busted my ass to be able to do this and played a shit load of games. It all paid off though as I not only hit my milestone 8,500 trophy, but I went way past it. I might not be able to reach 10,000 trophies this year, but I’ll definitely hit 9,000.

Have 175 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 134
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 135
I was able to complete one couple of game to 100% this month and that made me pretty damn happy. This is another goal that I know I’m not going to hit the 175 mark by the end of the year, but I would be happy to at least hit the 150 mark before the year is up which really isn’t that far fetched.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 54.69%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.65%
This number is an ongoing struggle for me as I think the only thing I can really do with this number is not play anything new at all and just work on games that need to be completed that are already on my trophy list and just aren’t done. This kind of sucks because I do love me some new games and it’s hard for me to get back into older games. If I want this number to go up then it’s just something that I have to do.

Start and Complete 10 new games that are not in my backlog

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 3
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 5
I started Castaway Paradise and Fallout Shelter this year and was able to complete them this month adding two games new games to my total bringing this number up to 5. I can see this going up a little more by the end of the year, but I’m not sure I’m going to be able to hit that 10 game goal that I set for myself. I’m halfway there and pretty optimistic at this point so we’ll just have to see how this one goes.

Play and complete 25 RANDOM games in my backlog

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
I’m still playing Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at this point and I’m almost done so when I finally finish this will add another game to my backlog completed game list. I’m not sure how many of these I’m going to be able to hit this year because I have a bunch of games that are still in my backlog that are super long and take a lot of dedication. I think I can probably add maybe three or four more to this list, but I’m not going to go overboard especially with all of the new games coming out.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 3
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 4
Another month went by and I only pre-ordered one game and it was the Final Season of the Walking Dead. This was only because it came with the whole Walking Dead collection which I’m currently playing. I’ll be pre-ordering a bunch of games next month when I put my pre-order in for Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Life is Strange 2. I think I’m going to do really good with this goal though because after those three games I’ll be at a total of 7 and then after that there are just a few more games on my radar for the end of the year and that’s basically it meaning I’ll stay well under 10 for this year. Gives my wallet a nice little break.

I had a really great month and I’m really proud of myself! This was just an awesome month of gaming for me and I really do hope that I can round out the year like this because that would just be awesome. Like I said throughout the post, I might not reach all of my goals this year, but if I come close then that’ll be good enough for me. Hoping to continue with this winning streak that I’m on, I’ll let you know how everything goes next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – July 2018 – UPDATE

Another month has quickly gone by as this year gets closer and closer to an end. Based on my already obvious failures and what not, I’ve started to plan my goals for next year. I’m an early planner. Anyway, I’m not here to talk about next year’s goals just yet, so let’s go over my current goals and see how I progressed with them this past month.

Gaming Goals for 2018

Have a total of 125 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 88
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 89
There are a lot of games that are on my list of games to platinum, but I just don’t seem to be getting them lately. I don’t know if it’s from lack of trying or I’m just losing interest in the games that I’m playing. Anyway, it’s been a tough road to even crack the 100 mark, but this month I did make some progress and got the platinum trophy for Far Cry 5! This is all because of @tjarvinen86, so thanks again buddy for helping me get those last trophies I needed for the platinum.

Have a total of 10,000 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 8,410
– Ending # of Trophies: 8,479
I had one really good week of trophies this month where I was able to get 24 trophies, but the rest of the month was just meh. Once again, I couldn’t pass the 100 mark as I inch my way closer to the 8,500 mark each month. At this point the 10,000 goal is totally not going to happen, but I would be happy with reaching 9,000 which might happen. Either way, I’m close to my milestone 8,500 trophy so I’m kind of happy.

Have 175 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 134
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 134
Even though I got the platinum trophy for Far Cry 5, I still didn’t actually get the 100% making this number stay the same because I refuse to buy the DLC. I am playing some games at the moment that will be 100% done when I finally complete them, but it’s all in a matter of time.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 54.70%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.69%
Have I said how much I really hate this number? I got the platinum trophy for a game and this number went down…again. Since I can’t seem to do anything good with this number, all I really want to do at the moment is just keep it above 55%. I don’t’ even care if it’s 55.01%, I just want it past this 54.whatever% bullshit that it’s been stuck at.

Start and Complete 10 new games that are not in my backlog

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 2
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 3
I started Far Cry 5 when it came out day one this year and finally finished it so it gets added to this list of starting and finishing new games that aren’t in my backlog. A small victory here and I hope that I can at least bump this number up by a few more before the end of the year or at least get halfway there.

Play and complete 25 RANDOM games in my backlog

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
I started playing Assassin’s Creed Syndicate this month, which is totally in my backlog and if I keep at it long enough I might even finish it this year increasing my number from 5 to 6. I’m not there yet, but I’m hoping that I will be before the year is up. I’m even hoping that I’ll get a few more games out of my backlog, but it’s just the matter of going through some games and seeing what’s going to be easy to get out of my backlog and what’s going to require a lot of time.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 3
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 3
I haven’t felt the need to pre-order anything again this month, but I know that this will change quickly as more and more games are getting closer to their release dates and I’m going to of course want them. I still can’t see this number passing 10, but you never know by the end of the year.

Once again that was my month. In the upcoming months I really want to concentrate on finishing up these games that I have in my backlog, games that have been sitting there forever and need just a couple of more trophies to get me to the platinum trophy for the game. This isn’t going to be easy as some of them are huge games and require a lot of time, but there are those rare few that will just require some dedication and maybe a day or two of my time. I’m really pumped on finishing up games in my backlog so we’ll see how it goes and as always I’ll let you know how I progressed next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – June 2018 – UPDATE

So another month has passed, and it’s another month that I haven’t seen a lot of improvement on my overall goals for the year. I’ve said it before on some of my weekly trophy blogs, but I’m kind of in this weird gaming funk at the moment that I can’t seem to come out of it. I’m hoping some well-deserved vacation time in July will help me with that. Anyway, onto my goals so that we can all see what little progress that I’ve made.

Gaming Goals for 2018

Have a total of 125 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 88
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 88
So I planned on getting the God of War Platinum, but I never was able to finish that. I kind of got bored so I put it to the side and just forgot about it this month. I did work on Detroit: Become Human and am only three trophies away from the platinum. It’ll require three more playthroughs of the game so I’m really not looking that forward to it, but it’s on my list of platinum trophies to get.

Have a total of 10,000 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 8,348
– Ending # of Trophies: 8,410
I feel like I kind of did OK this month in this department. I was able to get a decent amount of trophies thanks to playing some new games, finishing a game, and continuing to play Detroit: Become Human. I really don’t know what I’m going to do with myself gaming wise next month, but at least I’m close to a milestone which will be 8,500 trophies. I will say that I know for sure I will not reach the 10,000 trophy mark by the end of the year, but if I hit 9,000 I’ll be happy.

Have 175 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 133
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 134
I finally finished King Oddball this month! Yay for small victories, you can read my review of that game here if you were thinking about playing it. That was about all I was able to complete, but at least it’s something. The 175 is looking like a really far away number, but I’m hoping it’ll be one of those things that by the end of the year I’ll just finish a bunch of games and maybe come close to 150.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 54.75%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.70%
This number went down…again. I really hate this number because it’s based on not really playing new games and just sticking to a game until you complete it fully. I used to be able to do this, but lately I just can’t stick with a game that long. I don’t know if it’s because of the lack of time thing or just a me thing, but this month I am not liking this number at all.

Start and Complete 10 new games that are not in my backlog

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 1
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 2
I started and completed King Oddball which was a new game and not one that was in my backlog so another small victory this month. This was pleasantly surprising and I’ll be happy if I can make it to 5 before the year is complete.

Play and complete 25 RANDOM games in my backlog

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
I haven’t even laid a finger on my backlog at all this month as I concentrated on playing new games so as always, this number didn’t budge. I feel like I play games from my backlog to a certain extent then get tired of them and always want to move onto something new. This sucks because I hate that my backlog is so huge and it’s probably filled with games that are awesome and I just haven’t had the chance to start or finish them yet.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 3
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 3
No pre-orders again this month, but as we get closer and closer to the release dates of some games that I have my eye on this number will increase. I really doubt it will get passed the 10 games this year, which is a good thing so I’m at least happy about that.

And that was my month. It wasn’t the greatest month and it wasn’t the worst month, it was just one of those in-between months I guess. I’ve been having a lot of them lately and if I can get out of this little gaming funk that I’ve been in I’m pretty sure I can start knocking out some of these goals. Well, July is a new month and I want to try to start things positive before they all go to shit, so I’m going to say that I’m going to try my best to do better at accomplishing some of my goals.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – May 2018 – UPDATE

What is it with these really crappy months? I mean seriously, it’s like month after month after month. Not all of this month was crappy though because I did go to MegaCon, which was awesome. You can check out my various different blogs to read all about it. It’s taking me some time to write about my trip because it was a long trip and I did a bunch of stuff, but I’ve been posting daily, so make sure to check it out. Anyway, on with the goals that, because I’m trying to be positive here, I progressed on this month.

Gaming Goals for 2018

Have a total of 125 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 88
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 88
So the Far Cry 5 platinum is out for now, but I will get it. My plan was to get the God of War platinum trophy this month, but those damn collectibles are just a pain in the ass and I haven’t had much time to play so that went down the drain to. Another month with no platinum trophies. At this rate I’m hoping that when I can finally get platinum trophies it’ll happen all at once as I work on 4-5 different games at a time.

Have a total of 10,000 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 8,3,12
– Ending # of Trophies: 8,348
This has been my worst trophy month ever. I averaged about 7 trophies a week which is just crazy for me. I mean, I know I’m an adult and stuff, but so are a lot of other people who are adults and they can still get over 100 trophies a month. This is making me feel like not much of a trophy hunter as of late. Which is kind of sad in a way because I have enough games that I know, I just know, I can totally hit that 10,000 mark this year if I really put some more effort into it.

Have 175 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 133
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 133
Another month of not finishing any games. It’s not that bad because the only two games that I actually started this month was King Oddball and Detroit: Become Human, so I’m not that upset about it. Maybe a little disappointed, but Detroit: Become Human came out really late in the month and so far it looks like it’s going to be an easy game to complete.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 54.77%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.75%
Ugh, this number went down by 0.02% and it’s all because of Detroit: Become Human. Keeping this number up is hard to do when games come out late in the month and I start them really late in the month as well. I’m not that disappointed because I know this number will go up once I get more into the game and actually complete it, but it’s a little bit of a bummer right now. This numer won’t hit 75% this year, see me being positive again, but some day it will. Someday.

Start and Complete 10 new games that are not in my backlog

– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 1
– Starting Number of New Games Played and Completed: 1
I started two new games this month and didn’t finish them, so this number also stayed the same. It’s not that bad as I plan on finishing the games I started this year so this number should go up soon enough.

Play and complete 25 RANDOM games in my backlog

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
Another category that didn’t budge because I didn’t play anything from my backlog. This is getting worse and worse because I have no time for my backlog this year it seems. This is a little upsetting because there are a bunch of games that I’m hoping to play that are in my backlog. I’m hoping that now that TV season is basically over I can catch up on some of these games.

Only pre-order 10 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 3
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 3
I wanted to pre-order Vampyr this month, but I didn’t. I’ll probably buy it before any sale, but I just couldn’t justify pre-ordering it. This isn’t a bad thing because it helped me save just a little bit of money…for now.

So that was it. Another crap month of not getting anything done. Trying to stay with that positive vibe though that everything will turn around next month and I can start banging out these goals as much as possible. So we’re going to end this blog on a happy note and say that June is going to be the best gaming month for me. Ok, so even writing that made me throw up in my mouth just a little, but still trying to stay positive.
