Gaming Goals for the New Year – August 2017 – UPDATE

Another month has just flown on by and even though my trophy count was down, I can tell you that right now, I still played a bunch of different games. My goals though are seeming a little less achievable as December is right around the corner and I already failed one goal. With so many new games coming out I just wasn’t able to keep my goal of only pre-ordering 5 games this year. Anyway, let’s take a look and see how my month went.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 79
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 79
There were no new platinum trophies for this month as I was trying to get the Fallout 4 platinum to make it my milestone platinum trophy. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as I got side tracked by a lot of other games and playing Fallout takes a hell of a lot of time. Anyway, even though it won’t be Fallout, a platinum trophy or two should be just around the corner so I’m not that upset about it.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,627
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,711
There were so many games played this month and I still couldn’t get 100 trophies. I was only able to get a sad 84 trophies this month even though I tried so hard. Ugh, this number has me struggling as I’ll never reach 8,500 by the end of the year now. I’m going to say though that if I can reach at least 8,000 I’ll be happy. Kind of.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 120
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 120
This number stayed the same this month as I didn’t finish anything. I’m guessing that this will jump up though and I should reach 150 by the end of the year. I know that’s like 30 games away but I’m optimistic. With all of the Telltale games that I play along with some other simple games that don’t require much I don’t see why I can’t reach this number.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.96%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.57%
Remember how I said I played a bunch of new games this month? Yeah, that also means that my completion rating took a major hit as it dropped. This was expected to happen, especially this month, and 75% is totally unreachable this year. If I can get this number up to 55% by the end of the year I’ll be happy.

Complete 10 RANDOM games featured in my I Never Finished…Because…blog

– Starting Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
– Ending Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
This number is still at 0, but there is a catch, I actually did start playing one of my I Never Finished…Because games again and it was Sideway: New York. I know, I couldn’t believe it myself, but with my PS4 being occupied at times as I edit video’s I need something to do and turning on my PS3 and playing an older game seemed like the perfect idea. Maybe by next month I’ll have the game completed.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
The only game I played in my backlog this month was Fallout 4. There was no way that this was going to get completed with the amount of other games that I played so this number stays the same. If I can at least hit 10 games by the end of the year I’ll be happy because at least it’s 10 games that are out of my growing backlog.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – FAILED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 6
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 8
Yep, this number ticked up again this month as PlayStation is really getting me with the pre-orders because of discounts. I picked up Batman: The Enemy Within at a discounted price on pre-order and The Last Day of June. Right now I have no idea how many more games I’ll be pre-ordering, but I want to try to keep it under 15 at least.

And that was my month. Not that exciting at all and it makes me feel like too much of an adult at times. Anyway, depending on how things at work are in September, there might be some changes coming which are going to suck for me, I might have more time to game. I won’t have the money to game, which might help with the whole pre-order thing but at least it’ll help me clear up my backlog. I’ll let you know how things go next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – July 2017 – UPDATE

I really don’t know why at the end of the month when I write these blogs that I’m always so shocked. I always find myself thinking, “wow is it the end of the month already?” Then I groan because it turns out that I’m a grown up and can’t spend my time playing video games all the time and that these goals that I set are never going to get accomplished no matter how hard I try. Anyway, that doesn’t stop me from trying so let’s take a look at my progress for the month.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 77
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 79
Thanks to some cheap and easy sale game this month I was able to add the Puzzle Showdown 4K platinum to my collection as well as Lara Croft GO. Even though I’m one trophy away from 80, I’m not sure if I’m going to make the 100 this year. I might, you never know, but that’s looking like it’s not going to happen. As long as I hit 80 and go a little over…maybe even hit 90, I won’t be too upset about that.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,531
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,627
I still couldn’t even hit 100 trophies this past month. Yet another disappointment. Even though a lot of games were on sale and I got some quick and easy trophies it really didn’t help all that much. I’m less than 1,000 trophies away from my goal, but there would have to be some kind of gaming miracle at this point for me to get 1,000 trophies by the end of the year.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 117
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 120
This number jumped up by 3 this month, which wasn’t bad. Thanks again to those games that I bought on sale. It would have been one more to make 121, but Horizon Zero Dawn added some DLC with New Game + and a new Difficulty that I didn’t feel like jumping in and playing at so there went my 100% on that game. Anyway, another 30 games and I should hit my goal. I’m still pretty confident that I can do this.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.70%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.96%
Look at this number climb this past month! Look at it, look at it. I’m saying that because it’s going to plummet next month when I start just about 7 new games that I might or might not be able to finish. I can’t believe that there are 7 games coming out next month that I’ll be playing. Three of them are episode based, so they’ll get completed eventually, but the other 4 are non-episodic games and those are always fickle so we’ll see how low this number goes.

This is still at zero because for some reason I can’t bring myself to turn on my PS3. I have no idea why, I even considered purchasing the year subscription to PS Now just to play some PS3 games that I actually still own. I couldn’t justify doing that either because even though $99 or the year is a good price, I already own these games and a PS3. I should just play them on there. Right? I don’t know anymore.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
While I did play games in my backlog this month, I didn’t finish any of them. I did finish new games though, which don’t count towards this goal. I’m in a no win situation here so I’ll continue to try and finish some backlogged games, but the rest of the year is super busy with new games that I’m not sure if I can do it.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – FAILED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 4
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 6
So I completely failed this goal this year. Yes, I’m already up to 6 pre-orders since I pre-ordered Sonic Mania and I pre-ordered The Long Dark just last night in order to get it at a discount. By this point I’m kinda like screw it. I already blew this goal to hell so why not keep going. There are a bunch of games that I want to get and I might as well just get them.

That was it for the month. A decent month I want to say even though it really wasn’t. I mean I made progress on a lot of my goals, and even failed one, but knowing that I’ll probably not make the rest of them by the end of the year is kind of a downer. Anyway, I’ll always keep trying and I’ll let you know how things go next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – Jaunary 2017 – Update

So yeah, January is already over. This makes me groan out load because, I can’t believe the first month of the year is over. So many games, so little time has been the motto of the year so far as it seems like when I want to game I become super busy and then have little to no time to game at all. Anyway, I did work on some of my new goals this year, so as in years past let’s see a breakdown of how the year is going for me so far.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 68
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 71
I made some progress on this goal this month and I was pretty happy about it since it was probably the most amount of platinum’s that I’ve gotten in one month in a long time.. Three new platinum trophies were added to my collection and it seems like the 100 isn’t so far off. This month I was able to get platinum trophies for Day of the Tentacle Remastered, Watch Dogs 2, and Catlateral Damage.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 6,879
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,078
I’m going to count this as a pretty awesome trophy month as I was able to get 199 trophies. I did hit my milestone 7,000th trophy which was pretty awesome. 7,000 is a long way away from where I was when I had originally started this blog and I can still remember celebrating the day a few years about hitting my 2,000th trophy. For me this was a pretty big deal and I’m feeling that I can reach the 8,500 this year.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 107
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 110
While this number also went up this month, I’m expecting it to drop by at least one because Watch Dogs 2 is still a new game and I’m expecting some DLC. This game was OK and I have no plan on getting any of the DLC for it as I basically beat it and deleted it. While this number will go down, I’m confident I can get it back up again to hit that 150 this year.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 52.79%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.20%
I started this year on a low note then played a bunch of games thinking this would bring my completion rating even further down, but that didn’t happen. My rating went way up past the 53% mark this month and I’ll take that as a win. Hitting the 75% is always going to be a struggle but it’s something that I really strive for because it’s something that I want. It might not happen this year, but it will eventually.

This one is hard. I want to play my PS3 games that I never finished, especially the God of War ones, but I’m finding a lack of time is a big drawback. I haven’t turned on my PS3 in months, months, and it kind of sucks. I really want to play these games I’m just going to have to try and find time to do so.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 0
– Ending Number of completed games in my backog: 1
I was able to start and finish Watch Dogs 2 this month which was great because I purchased this game December 25th last year when it was on sale and it qualifies for this category because I had to have purchased the game before January 1st. While this wasn’t a huge stretch or a game that was sitting in my backlog for a long time, it was still something that was there and now it’s not.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 0
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 1
This month I only pre-ordered one game and it was For Honor. I’m not sure if I’m going to love or hate this game but I knew that I had to have it day one. That being said, I also for some weird reason have been holding off on pre-ordering Mass Effect: Andromeda. It’s one of my most anticipated games but for some reason I can’t seem to click the pre-order button. It’s weird, but I’ll figure it out. Eventually, because I can’t see myself not having this game day one.

And that was my month. It was pretty exciting and I feel like I got a lot of things done. This is how the beginning of the year always starts though right? I’m sure I’ll have even less time to go back and revisit some old games next month though as I have two day one releases coming in, For Honor and Horizon: Zero Dawn. While those will take up most of my time I’ll still try to make some progression on these goals. I’ll let you know how everything went next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year 2017

I like how this is a yearly tradition since this monthly blog is on its third year now. It’s all because of the people that read and comment and it just encourages me to keep going with it because I must be doing something right. Last year was a complete fail fest as I only accomplished one goal, but at least I did learn some important lessons and made some pretty good progress. This is a new year though and new years are meant to be optimistic, although I’m a total pessimist, so here’s an entirely new list of goals that I’m going to set for myself for this upcoming year of gaming.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

I know, I couldn’t even hit my goal of 80 last year so I must be crazy to move it up to 100. Is it a crazy goal? Yes, but I really want to hit that 100 milestone and join the 100 platinum trophy club. It’s a very prestigious club that no one else I know has entered into and I want to be the first. I have a huge amount of backlog coupled with a bunch of games that I want to get this upcoming year and I think it’s going to be a great gaming year.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

This goal is going to stay the same as last year because I really like this number for some reason. I don’t know, it has a certain je ne sais quoi about it that I just like. Will I be able to reach this goal this year, I sure as hell hope so with the amount of games that I plan on playing. Will I have time to do it? That’s another question that will be answered by the end of the year.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

I upped this goal by thirty games this year because I already hit that 100 mark and I figured that if I did that then I could at least try to hit the 150 mark. Another goal that I have no idea if I’ll be able to get or not, but it’s a nice notion to think that I can try and get this done. Will I be terribly disappointed if I don’t achieve this goal this year. Yes. Seriously though, probably not but saying yes adds to the drama.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

Damnit I want that 75% completion showing up under my name when I check my profile at PSNProfiles.com! This may be the year that I actually do it, or it may be the year that I blow my completion rating straight to hell. Either way it’ll be interesting to watch it go up or crash and burn.

Complete 10 RANDOM games featured in my I Never Finished…Because…blog

I’m not making a list this year of games that have to be played. You see how well that went last year. This year I’m just saying that there were a lot of games in my weekly blog, I Never Finished…Because…that I gave a 5 out of 5 probably of playing again and I want to play them and complete them so that I can say I finally finished them. By doing this I also want to welcome a challenge to anyone that reads this blog. When I play one of my games off of my I Never Finished…Because list, I’ll let you know and if you didn’t finish the game either, you’re welcome to play and try to finish it before me. A little competition never hurt anyone.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

If you read this blog at all you know that my backlog is crazy huge. Making a list didn’t work last year so I want to make it completely random. If I feel like playing Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, I’ll do it because I want to not because a list says I have to and if I want, which I most likely will, I’ll complete it and it’ll be one less game siting in its wrapper waiting to be unwrapped. Here’s what’s going to qualify as backlog though. I have to have purchased it before the first of the year and it has to never have been played before. Yeah, I think I have more than a couple of those that I can maybe reach this goal with this year.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

This goal worked out really well last year, and I only pre-ordered 4 games. Yes this year will be a little harder, but I think that it can still be done. There is a catch though, this year I will not be making a list of games I didn’t pre-order. If I can still remember the games that I wanted to play but didn’t pre-order during the course of the year then I will deem them worthy of a holiday buy, if not then I’ll simply pass them up. I already do have a list though of games which I’ll most likely pre-order this year which include:
1. Mass Effect: Andromeda
2. For Honor
3. South Park: The Fractured But Whole
4. Sonic Mania Collectors Edition
5. ????
This leaves me with one empty spot this year and I think the only way I’ll really be screwed is if by some random chance a Dragon Age game is released, The Last of Us Part 2 is released, God of War is released, and Death Stranding is released all sometime this year.

Here’s looking forward to another happy year as a gamer! I’m really excited about these goals as I’ve been wanting to play some games that I talked about in I Never Finished…Because and this gives me the chance to play some games that I’ve been wanting to play since I wrote about them. Now it’s your turn. Do you have any goals for this upcoming year that pertain to gaming? Let me know in the comments section below and as always, happy gaming!

Gaming Goals for the New Year – December 2016 – FINAL

So this year was just crazy as a lot of you might already know if you read this blog at all. I set these huge goals thinking it was going to be the same year that it was last year and was completely blown away when I was interrupted from my “normal” gaming schedule time after time after time. I know my goals were a little ambitious to begin with, but I do like a challenge. Anyway, here’s my final total on my goals for the year.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies. – FAILED
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 65
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 68
While I didn’t hit 80 platinum trophies this year, I did have a good year of platinum trophies. I started the year with only 48 platinum trophies and ended with 68 which was a gain of 20 platinum trophies. Not too bad if you ask me. Yes, I didn’t hit my 80 but there was still a gain of a whopping 20 platinum trophies which was no easy feat. I’m pretty happy about this even though this overall goal had to be marked as a fail.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies. – FAILED
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,772
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,879
This month was a pretty hard one to game in, which honestly was to be expected. There are holidays and holiday parties, which were work related, and then that last tattoo session that I had to get in, so a lot of things prevented me from gaming and it was kind of impossible for me to reach this goal by the end of month anyway. I did make some decent progress on this though since I started the year with 5,616 trophies and was able to get well over 1,000 trophies throughout the year. Still another goal that I didn’t meet but was happy with the end result.

Have 120 games completed at 100%. – FAILED
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 104
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 107
I really really thought I would hit the 120 mark this year. I seriously did, but it just didn’t happen. I have to say out of all of my goals this is the one that I’m upset about the most. Yes I did make progress as I started the year with only 81 games at 100%, I really thought the 120 would be nothing. I did make it over the 100 mark, but not hitting that 120 stings.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%. – FAILED
– Starting Completion Rate: 52.96%
– Ending Completion Rate: 52.79%
I knew this number was a far stretch to begin with when I first put it out there. I knew there was no possible way that I would even reach this goal, this year, next year, or maybe even the year after, but I still wanted to give it a try. I have to say that even though I failed this one I’m pretty happy with myself as I got my overall completion up from 50.62% to well over 52% even though I had that drop from last month. I was so close to 53%, but then I had to start a bunch of games at the end of the year. This is win for me and I’m happy about it. One day I’ll get to 75%, one day.

Start and get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 30 backlogged games. – FAILED
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
After thinking about this goal over and over again, I think the main thing that kept me from getting this done was that I made an actual list of games that needed to be completed. The child inside of me looked at this list and was like “I’m not playing these games” and I think that’s where the problem was to begin with. I told myself what was OK to play and this was not cool and part of the problem on why I didn’t meet this goal. It’s better if I can just pick and choose the games I want to play and not have to stick to an actual list.

Get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 20 already started backlogged games. – FAILED
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
All I can say about this goal is that there are 4 less games sitting on my trophy card that aren’t completed. Once again this was a list type of thing, I made a list of games that had to be played instead of going back and playing what I wanted to play and tried to stick to the list. This resulted in me getting bored and basically throwing a temper tantrum with the list and wanting to shred it in a million pieces because I didn’t’ want to play these games. Lesson of the year – LISTS ARE BAD!

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – ACCOMPLISHED!
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 4
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 4
I finally did something right this year as I stayed below a certain goal of pre-orders. My wallet thanked me this year, even though by the end of the year I still felt broke, thanks holiday sales! I’m proud of myself for only pre-ordering 4 games this year which means that I really didn’t need that many games day one and it was perfectly fine to wait for a sale. Another lesson learned – NOT ALL GAMES NEED TO BE BOUGHT DAY ONE TO ENJOY THEM!

I had a really fun time this year telling you guys about my gaming goals and letting you know my progress each and every month. I hope you guys had a fun time reading about my ups and downs and my overall gaming experiences. Also, this is the start of a new year! You know what that means right? New goals for 2017, stay tuned and I’ll let you know what they are tomorrow! I hope everyone had a happy and healthy New Year and that you continue to read and comment whenever you feel like it. Here’s hoping that you guys continue reading and that I make some more impossible goals for this upcoming year!

Gaming Goals for the New Year – November 2016 – UPDATE

This month just came and went so quick, I can’t even believe it. As you can probably tell I’m not going to be meeting any of these goals this year. I way over extended myself this year, but that’s ok. Sometimes you win some and sometimes you lose some. While it may have been a losing type of gaming year, other things were better. It kind of felt like a trade off in a way, but no one is here to listen to me babble on about random stuff, you want to see my breakdown so here it is.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 62
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 65
When it came to platinum trophies this month I really hustled as I played a couple of games that had some pretty easy platinum’s. As always I will reiterate the fact that I did not just play these games for the platinum trophies, that I actually did want to play them. It just happened to be that the platinum’s were easy ones. Anyway, a platinum is a platinum and I got three this moth so go me.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,542
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,772
Look at that number this month? I really feel like a gamer this month since I had such a huge hall on those trophies. I mean, just look at them! True, 102 of them did come from my Name is Mayo, but the others did not and there are still a lot of them too. I’m really really hoping I can at least hit 7,000 by the end of the year.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 99
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 104
While I may not hit the 120 that I wanted this year, I at least surpassed the 100 mark for these games and I consider that a good thing.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 52.01%
– Ending Completion Rate: 52.96%
I can’t believe I’m so close to hitting 53%. I mean, if you think about it I’ve been struggling this whole year to reach 52 and here we are so close to 53. It really baffles me but I’m pretty happy. I think that overall I made a lot of progress even though I didn’t come anywhere close to the 75 that I wanted.

Start and get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 30 backlogged games
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2
I really really hate my backlogged games. The good news is, I didn’t really pick up all that many games this year on sale. Was it me or were the games just not there this year? I mean I found a couple of good buys, but nothing that good. Anyway, my backlogged list of games thanks me as I should have more time to play them now.

Get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 20 already started backlogged games.
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
– Ending Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 20 That Were Listed): 4
This number also stayed the same this month again because I haven’t played all that much other than Skyrim and the occasional quick game here or there. I even stopped playing Dragon Age: Origins which I couldn’t even believe myself, but when you’re limited on time that’s what happens.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 4
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 4
This number stayed the same because I didn’t pre-order anything again. I was supposed to pre-order a game then didn’t and then they released the pre-order information on Mass Effect: Andromeda which I thought would really kick my ass into place and get my pre-order in but I’ve just been meh on the pre-orders.

With this year being as crazy as it was, I’m kinda happy it’s all over next month and I have a whole new year to start on. A lot of these goals are going to change for next year as I have already been planning on what I’m going to be adding onto this list and taking off. Of course you’ll have to wait for that, but for next month I just plan on doing what I’ve been doing. We’ll see how everything goes and what goals I actually do complete next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – September 2016 – Update

What can I say about September. It’s been a crazy month in a year of extremely crazy months, but that’s really nothing new. With the year basically being just about over, it’s hard to think that any of these goals will be accomplished. While I am getting close with some of them, the thought that any of them will be fulfilled by the end of the year is looking grim. Anyway, here’s a breakdown of my goals and how I did this month.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 61
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 62
Another new platinum to add to my collection this month thanks to Far Cry Primal, but hitting that 80 is going to be super difficult. Right now I just have so much going on and I barely get as much time as I was getting to game anymore so this is going to be a hard one. I think that by the end of the year if I can hit 65 – 70, I’ll be a happy camper.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,374
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,463
An ok month for trophies since I couldn’t even hit the 100 mark by 11 trophies. I was hoping by the end of this month I would at least hit 6,500 but that didn’t happen. It’ll probably happen next month but hitting the 8,500 that I had originally planned looks like it’s never going to happen this year. Next year? Definitely, but not this year.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 97

Why this number stayed the same this month, I have no idea. It could only mean that something on my trophy list added some unnecessary DLC. Thanks random game. Even now the 120 is looking a little eh to me and I’ll be happy to hit 105 by the end of the year.

I hit a huge milestone last month, huge, but then just threw it in the garbage this month as I started a bunch of games and just didn’t get the chance to finish them and it brought down my completion rating. This is really my own fault and unless I start finishing up some games, this goal will never be reached. Ever.

In an attempt to clear up my ever growing backlog, I made this list but as you can see this really did nothing as I just played whatever the hell I wanted anyway. This is frustrating since the pile of games that I have just sitting around is growing and growing. I’m really trying but I don’t know, it’s just not happening. I’ll have to think of something next year that will motivate me to work more on my backlog.

This number didn’t go up this month, but I did restart Dragon Age: Origins and complete one of the DLC that I was missing. I have one more to go but I’m taking my time with this game since I love it so much and it’s one of my all time favorites. Yes, I’m dreading the day, which will probably be tomorrow, when I have to enter the Fade, but I’ll be taking my time and I should have at least one more game to add to this within the next few months as I hopefully finish up the last DLC for this game sometime soon.

Earlier this month I pre-ordered The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition because I just have to have it for the PS4. It’s really as simple as that. I was supposed to pre-order South Park: The Fractured but Whole, but that’s been delayed so I will not be pre-ordering that any time soon. That leaves me with one more game to pre-order if I want this year, but I’m not sure that I will.

There you have it, my progress on my goals for 2016. I’m thinking that a lot of these goals are going to carry over to next year, but that’s ok. I’m kinda happy with my progress this year. I won’t say that it’s been the best gaming year ever. That was actually a couple of years ago before I even started this blog, but that’s another story. Now for the upcoming month, while I will be spending a hell of a lot of time playing Skyrim when it comes out, which isn’t until the end of the month, I plan on spending some time with some backlogged games until then. I’m going to try not to start anything new until Skyrim, but you know how that goes. I’ll let you know how everything works out for me next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – August 2016 – Update

I promised myself that I would game as much as possible this month after the disappointment I suffered at work last month. While that didn’t really work out like I had planned, I still was able to get a decent amount of game time in and I was pretty pleased with myself in the process. Here’s a breakdown of how I did on my goals this month.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 60
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 61
I tried really hard to get that Prison Architect: PlayStation 4 Edition platinum this month as well as the Ghostbusters platinum, but it just seems like it wasn’t in my cards to get the Ghostbusters platinum. I am happy to report though that I did get the Prision Architect: PlayStation 4 Edition platinum, which I like to consider some progress. What I didn’t get this past month I’ll probably be making up for this month. Do I think I can still hit the 80 that I planned? Maybe, but I’m really going to have to bust my ass and play game after game in order to do so.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,276
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,374
Another good month of trophies even though I missed the 100 mark by 2. Yes the 8,500 is looking really far far away right now and I’ll probably never even reach it this year. I’m hoping that at least I’ll hit my milestone 6,500 by…October. After that I’ll be happy if I can hit 7,000 at this point.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 95
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 97
At least this number keeps moving up every month. I know that last year, I already had this goal accomplished, but I’m still hopeful that I’ll be able to reach my goal by the end of the year since I’ve been going back and completing some games that I started and never finished.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 51.87%
– Ending Completion Rate: 52.08%
Yes! 52% is a huge milestone for me and it’s showing that when I go back to complete games instead of compulsively starting new ones that this number does in fact go up. 75% is a long way off and I really don’t think I’ll be making it this year, but my number has steadily gone up since last year making me a happy gamer.

There was this black Friday in July sale and I couldn’t pass up on some games that were on my “To Buy” list so I picked them up and started them. I know, I know, this pile of games that I have listed is just sitting there waiting for me to play, but those other games were extremely tempting and I just couldn’t resist. I’ll try to get back to this goal sometime this year and I am in no way hitting that 30.

It seems like if I stick to my PS3 games that I had listed, that this goal is at least not that out of reach. I finished yet another PS3 game this month that was on the list, FEZ, which believe me was no easy task. I’ll continue to work on this goal as I try and pick some PS3 games to fill up my Sunday PS3 Game day.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 3
I pre-ordered Horizon: Zero Dawn the collector’s edition this month because that statue looks awesome and I didn’t want to miss out on it. Even though I’ve been debating if I should count this or not since it comes out next year, I decided to count it and be fair since I did pre-order it this year. Another two games to go and a bunch of games that I want day one. Not sure how I’ll keep this goal, but I’ll try.

And that was my month. It wasn’t a bad month, but a lot of these goals look like they’re going to be failures by the end of the year. Not that it really matters because as always I’m having an awesome time gaming. For the upcoming month I’m going to try and work on as much backlog as possible as I get ready for the gaming season and make the decision of what games I’m going to pre-order making them my last two pre-orders for the year. I’ll let you know how things went next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – July 2016 – UPDATE

For me, this year has been the year of just weird months. July was no different as I worked a really crazy schedule, got a promotion at work one week…before being demoted again the next…and tried to game as much as possible to keep my sanity with all the work related drama. This is one of the reasons why I’ve always loved gaming so much, it was just something to break away from reality even if for just a little while. You’re not here though to hear me complain about work or hear about my love of gaming, you’re here to see how I did with my goals for July so let’s get to it.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 59
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 60
Another gaming milestone for me as I hit 60 platinum trophies. I have to say that when I first started trophy hunting, I thought getting 10 was difficult and now here I am sitting pretty with 60 platinum trophies. It’s true that some of them were simple as can be, but there were others that were extremely hard to get. My quest to get 80 is still going though and I have less than half a year to do so.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,169
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,276
At least this month I was able to get over 100 trophies. The way things are going, I’m thinking that I can maybe, just maybe get to the 8,500 especially since I’ve basically given up at work just a little. Why am I going to try so hard and work so hard only to be treated like crap? Anyway, 8,500 is going to be a struggle but I think I can do it.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 93
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 95
Up down, up down, up down. That’s how this number has been going this month which just goes to show you that sometimes DLC just plain sucks. Seeing that I’ve played over 300 games now on my combined systems of PS3, PS4, and PS Vita I really want this number to be higher showing that I was at least able to complete a majority of these games, but with DLC it’s just a pain in the ass. On the bright side though, I did go up two games this month which isn’t bad.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 51.51%
– Ending Completion Rate: 51.87%
Yay! Because this number went up this month. Ok, it’s not a whole lot, but at least it’s something. This completion rating is kind of a pain though because it of course drops when you start a new game before slowly climbing its way back up as you complete the game. It’s an ongoing struggle, but I’m always up for the challenge.

So…I kind bought Saints Row IV: Re-Elected and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell this month and this task of completing backlogged games was just tossed out the window completely. When I finish with Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, I’ll probably go back to this…probably. Until The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered is released. Then all bets are off.

I’ve started Mass Effect 3 this month and was able to complete the money grabbing Omega DLC. I finally was able to turn in that last mission before the game blocked it. On the very last day of July, I was able to get the final three trophies I needed from the Citadel DLC getting my 100% on Mass Effect 3. It only took me 4 years and 4 months to do.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 2
So…another month where I didn’t pre-order anything. I have to get some pre-orders in soon though, but I’m just not wanting this number to go up yet. It’s a struggle especially because there are a bunch of games I want on release date. Ugh…what to do…what to do. I’ll figure something out and hopefully keep this number at 5.

That was it for this month. I was feeling eh about my progress, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. Now for next month, I plan to game as much as possible because I refuse to go out of my way at work anymore. Work has been absoulte crap lately and you can see a little bit more on why it’s been crap as I count down the 500 reasons why I would rather be home playing video games instead of working on Twitter. As always, I’ll let you know how things went next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – June 2016 – UPDATE

This was just a weird month for me as I tried to get adjusted to a new work schedule, fit in a tattoo session, and then fit in some unexpected “charity” work along with a bunch of other crazy stuff that I like to refer to as my life. Anyway, I did get to make some progress on some of my goals that I was slacking on so that’s always good and it makes me a happy gamer. Anyway, here’s an update on how I did this month.

2016 Gaming Goals

Have a total of 80 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 58
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 59
Not a whole lot of progress on this goal, but something is better than nothing. I still really don’t think that 80 is all that impossible even though this year is half gone, I just have to get through some games that are almost finished and I lost interest in. If I can do this then 80 is going to be a breeze.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 6,101
– Ending # of Trophies: 6,169
This is one of the impossible goals for this year, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not trying. Each trophy that I earn is one step closer to the 8,500 mark. I’m having a surge of positive energy this month where I’m trying to believe that just about anything is possible, even this goal.

Have 120 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 94
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 93
Oh how I love DLC. Even though I completed a game to 100%, this goal went nowhere because Frozen Free Fall: Snowball Fight had to add DLC. Thanks Frozen Free Fall: Snowball Fight! It’s not like I never wanted to play this game again, sigh. Nevertheless, I’m confident that I’ll be completing this goal this year as I really don’t have that many more games to go.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 51.41%
– Ending Completion Rate: 51.51%
Another impossible goal this year, but at least this number went up this month and not down. I’ve said this a million times, and I know it for sure that if I work on completing games that I’ve already started, then this shouldn’t be a problem. It’s just that sometimes I get bored and want to go to something new and basically give up. I will try harder though and hopefully get this number up to at least 55%? Or even 53%. Let’s say 53% for sure.

Start and get the platinum trophy or 100% completion on 30 backlogged games
– Starting Number of Backlogged Games Completed (Out of the 30 That Were Listed): 2

Yeah, so last month’s plan didn’t work as I looked at my list and basically said Ugh out loud. There was nothing on there that I was absolutely dying to play and the last thing I want is to take my very little gaming time and play something that I don’t even want to play. I’ll see if anything interests me this month, but no promises.

Yay! This number went up by one this month as I completed Mass Effect 2 and got the final DLC trophy for Arrival. This trophy was exactly 5 years and one month in the making, but it was well worth it and it’s nice to be able to finally put this game on my shelf of games that I’ve completed to 100%.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

Damn you E3! I knew this was going to happen, I knew it! There are so many games coming out in the prime gaming months that I’m going to have a very hard time keeping this number at 5. I’m going to try but right now I have my eye on more than 3 games to pre-order. Whether or not I pre-order them is still up in the air. I’ll just have to wait and see, but nothing pre-ordered this month so this number stays where it is. Although…some of the games that I plan on pre-ordering come out next year, so if I pre-order them this year does it still count? I’ll have to think about this one.

That was it for this month. I did make some progress, not much, but it’s something and something is always better than nothing. For the upcoming month, I should return to some type of normalcy since I’m skipping my tattoo session, FemShep will have to wait another month to get finished, and just trying to keep a normal schedule. If things don’t change at work or no one else needs any favors, then I should have a pretty good gaming schedule where I can get a lot of game time in and hopefully accomplish more goals. I’ll let you know how things went next month.
