Platinum Trophy Guide – Lara Croft GO (PS4)

I’ve always wanted to do one of these guides, but they do take a while to actually get everything that you need together and even though I try, sometimes that just doesn’t happen or I don’t have video’s to actually show how to get the trophies. Actually, a lot of things go into making one of these guides, but I was able to finally get one guide done and it’s for Lara Croft GO. This guide will take you step by step on not only how to complete the game, but get every single trophy the game has to offer.

When it comes to this game there are a total of 18 trophies, one of which is a platinum trophy. Each There are a total of 7 different levels and each trophy can be obtained just by completing each level. Now there was only one trophy that required you to go back and re-do a part of a level, the other trophies just require you to use all of my Level guides in order to get the trophies for this game.

I’m always open to suggestions on what my next guide should be so feel free to leave some comments below and let me know which game you would like a guide for. If I have the game and can come up with some videos or a description of how to get each trophy, I’ll make try my best to make a guide for it.

Lara Croft GO Review (PS4)

Lara Croft GO

This was the last of my sale games. This one I was a little weary of though because I had played Hitman GO and thought it was just OK. You can read my full review of Hitman GO, here. Moving on though, I figured it wasn’t fair to judge a game based on another similar game so I decided to give this one a shot and see if it was in any different or if it was more of the same.

This isn’t your typical Tomb Raider game, but you’ll still be playing as Lara Croft in this short adventure. You’ll have 5 main levels to complete that will involve Lara doing what she does best, raiding a tomb and putting herself in all types of danger. There are two extra bonus levels as well that are similar but only span one level each. This game is strictly strategy based though as you’ll play though each level moving a little “chess” like piece of Lara around a board that’s filled with different obstacles. Avoid all of the obstacles in order to get to the end and move on. Make one wrong move and it’s the end of Lara.

Although this game, like Hitman GO, doesn’t that deep story that both franchises are known for I still enjoyed this game a little bit better. I think the reason was because the story throughout this game was more thought out. You had to collect three keys in order to reach the main prize of the tomb. It’s pretty clear, and I feel like this is one of those game franchises where you can do this with. For me, Hitman GO didn’t do this and it felt like every level was random and didn’t coincide with the previous level. I also enjoyed the strategy based play where you basically had to plan out each move in order to get things just right since making the wrong move usually resulted in death.

When it comes to the playability for this game, here’s the thing, the first 5 levels operated smoothly. You were told how to use the spear, how to move pillars and so on. This was a simple mechanism that worked, but I have no idea what the hell happened when you reached the two bonus levels of 6 and 7. All of these mechanisms that ran smoothly went to shit as the simple task of throwing the spear just wouldn’t work at times. The same thing with the moving of the pillars. I don’t know how many times I tried to grab the pillar only to move without it or finally grab it and move in the wrong direction. This became increasing frustrating and at one point I even thought it was because of my controller. Wanting to make sure it was the game and not my controller, I switched out controllers only to have the same thing happen. It’s like the two bonus levels were completely different from the first 5 and were untested. This is a major problem that I’m probably guessing will not get fixed. If you’re going to put out a whole game, make sure the whole thing works, not just the first part of it.

I really enjoyed the graphics for this game and was once again surprised that it made the transition from mobile to the PS4 as well as it did. The graphics were filled with detail and it really felt like it was a Tomb Raider game. Lara Croft looked like Lara Croft, not like she looks today, but how she used to look, which was a nice bit of nostalgia, and each area was well designed and had an appealing look to it.

Complete this game and do everything it has to offer in order to get 18 trophies. There are 17 regular trophies and then one platinum. The trophies are super simple and some just require you to play the game. The only difficult trophies are for the collectibles. There are times when you’ll have to go back because you missed one of the many vases you have to find throughout the game, but at least the game gives you the option to go back to the specific level that you have to go back to and even tells you if you were able to get all the collectibles or not.

This is strictly a single player game, just how I like my games. No need for other people to play with or trying to bribe one of your friends to help you out. It’s all up to you.

Overall I give this game a 3 out of 5.

What’s Great:
+ While there isn’t a spoken story, there’s still a story and if you’re a Tomb Raider player it’s easy to follow along.
+ The game is interesting and strategy based meaning you can’t just run into the tomb and shoot your way through it. You actually have think about your moves ahead of time.
+ The graphics transfer nicely from mobile to PS4 and it brings back the old design of Lara Croft that everyone knows and loves.

What’s Not So Great:
While the first 5 levels work perfectly, the last two levels will make you think like you’re playing a completely different game as the things that used to work, no longer work how you want them to.

I really wish I could have scored this game higher because I did enjoy it and I enjoyed it a lot more than Hitman GO, but the simple fact that the performance of this game went downhill for the last two bonus missions were a big no-no. This was simply uncalled for and just bad game design and development. It was seriously like playing a new game and it kind of ruined the experience just a bit for me. Sometimes a game could be good, great even, but it takes something like the end part of the game not working for it to ruin the whole game. I would suggest that if you purchase this game that you do so cautiously. The first 5 levels will give you a nice challenge as you move though each level and while the last two bonus levels will do the same thing, the mechanisms won’t work and you’ll want to toss your controller through the window. At least if you’re going to buy this, make sure you don’t pay the full $9.99 and pick this game up on sale.

This Week in Trophies 07-23-2017 – 07-29-2017

This was a crazy week, lately it seems like which week’s aren’t crazy, but I tried to get in as much gaming time as possible. With it being close to the end of the month, I really didn’t want to start any new games. Shocking I know, but I wanted to go back and try to finish up some games. I did get a platinum trophy, and if you keep reading you can see which trophy it was for and how the rest of my week went.

Lara Croft GO – 100%

I finally finished this game and got the platinum trophy. While it didn’t take that long, only a couple of weeks, it kind of felt like it took forever to finish this game. Anyway, when I finish a game I don’t like to talk too much about it here. You can find my full review of this game up on Wednesday.

Rise of the Tomb Raider – 23%

To be honest, I really didn’t want to play this game this week. I put in my disc for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls when it told me that an updated was needed. Instead of waiting for the update, I took the disc out and put this disc in instead. I swear with this game though every single time I think I’m close to the game ending, it feels like it just starts all over again. I have no idea what’s going on, but I did enjoy my time playing.

Pure Pool – 54%

I started playing this game again this week because I needed something quick to be able to play at night after work and I really couldn’t find another game that I wanted to play. I was able to rack up a decent amount of trophies for this game this week and was pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure if I’ll keep playing in the weeks to come, but it was fun while it lasted.

And that was it for the week. Not bad, but not that good either. This upcoming week is going to be a complete mess but I’m hoping to play some Gems of War, if Guild Wars starts up again, and then on Tuesday I’ll be playing The Long Dark which is a game that I’ve been looking forward to for the past few weeks. Other than that I have no idea what’s going to happen so I’ll let you know how everything goes next week.

This Week in Trophies 07-16-2017 – 07-22-2017

I have to say that this is going to be a really quick little blog because I didn’t get much done this week when it came to trophies or even gaming for that matter. It was one of those weeks where I had a lot of work, a lot of web design stuff with my oh so wonderful clients, a day when -gasp- I just didn’t feel like gaming, and he fact that my arm still kind of hurt from last week’s tattoo session. Anyway, here are the trophies I was able to get this week.

Lara Croft GO – 52%

I could have finished this game this week, but didn’t. I did add another two levels of this game to my YouTube channel so if you’re looking for some walkthroughs you can find them here. I’m really enjoying this game a lot more than Hitman GO. Mostly because even though it’s a puzzle game, there’s still a story being told where it seems like the Hitman game didn’t have that. Anyway, I’m hoping this week I can at least get the platinum for this game and finish up my video’s for this game.

Lara Croft GO Lara Croft GOLara Croft GO Lara Croft GOLara Croft GO

And that was it for this week. I told you it was going to be a quick blog. This upcoming week seems like a normal one so I should be able to game a little bit more. I’m going to try and finish Lara Croft GO and if I actually do then my video’s will be up on YouTube by Saturday. While I’m still playing this game, I plan on trying to get back into playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, some Diablo III and then try not to start something new with the new month approaching and it being a busy one with all these games coming out. I’ll let you know how everything goes next week.

This Week in Trophies 07-09-2017 – 07-15-2017

There were a lot of things going on this week that I feel like I didn’t even get a chance to game. From a messed up work schedule to a much needed tattoo appointment, time wasn’t really on my side this week which was just perfect because I decided I was going to start a new game and of course not even finish it. Anyway, onto the trophies.

Rise of the Tomb Raider – 20%

I thought this game was over when I played it this week, but apparently it’s not. I think I’m at the end now, I’m probably wrong again, but there still feels like there’s a lot to do. I do enjoy the time that I play, but I just can’t seem to be eager to start up that game every time I start my PS4. It’s kind of like, I sit there for a little while staring at my PS4 screen, sigh and then put the game in. Then I end up enjoying my playtime. I still don’t know what to think about this game is what it all comes down to.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – 21%

I’m still really enjoying my time playing this game and play whenever I have a decent amount of time to play which wasn’t a lot this week. I was able to get past act II though and move onto act III. I’m right in the middle of act III and it shouldn’t be long before I finish the game itself. Getting the platinum trophy is a whole other story though as the first time I did it, it took me three months. With the different trophies for this game, I’m sure it’s going to take a hell of a lot longer than that plus there are a bunch of new games coming out next month that I’m eager to start playing.

Lara Croft GO – 25%

I picked this game up on sale last week and decided to start it this week. I finished with the first two levels, but it’s taking a little while to go through as I make video’s for this game as I go. You can see the first two level’s completely done on my YouTube channel if you’re looking for a walkthrough. So far I’m liking his a lot more than Hitman GO, which I played and reviewed. You can read the full review of Hitman GO, here. Like everything else, I’ll continue to play but it’s going to take a while because sometimes making video’s isn’t an easy thing to do.

AdVenture Capitalist – 42%

It seems like forever since I last played this game and got anything out of it. Anyone else playing this game feel like that? I really just want to finish this damn game and get it over with but the trophies are just annoying and grindy, which is what you get for a free game that you don’t want to spend any actual money on. Not to mention that this game is glitchy as hell and randomly doesn’t start or makes my PS4 do a hard shutdown. Not fun.

AdVenture Capitalist

That was it for this week. Nothing compared to last week, but at least it was something. Now for this upcoming week. I plan to try and finish up Lara Croft GO and if I do my remaining video’s will be up on YouTube next Saturday. If not, I’ll upload what I have and go from there. I also plan on playing some more Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Gems of War, and Rise of the Tomb Raider. I might throw a new game in there depending on how I feel and I’ll let you know how everything works out next week.
