When looking back on this past month, there was really nothing typical about it. Work was stressful like it normally is, but then that kind of disappeared even though I’m sure it won’t last for long. I did have a little less time to game which wasn’t the plan but it happens. I upgraded my PS4’s hard drive to an external one which was interesting and fun. I thought that meant that I would be playing every single game that I had lying around but that wasn’t the case. All in all though, I had a pretty decent month, so let’s see how I did with my goals.
Gaming Goals for 2017
Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.
– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 74
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 75
It seems like the bigger the games I play, the harder a time I have getting the platinum trophy. I shouldn’t say that I have a harder time getting them, it just takes longer. The only platinum I was able to get this month was from Horizon Zero Dawn which was a surprise because that game was pretty huge. So while I only got one platinum this month, it was still a win because it was for a huge game.
Have a total of 8,500 trophies.
– Starting # of Trophies: 7,215
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,319
This was as struggle this month as I barely got over 100 trophies. This is mainly because I haven’t been playing the amount of games that I’ve been playing in the past. Not for lack of trying, but just because there are times when I concentrate on one games and this is one of those times. I still have more than 1,000 trophies to go in order to reach my goal by the end of the year. That’s a lot of trophies. Clearly you can probably tell that I don’t really think this stuff out when I plan it, but it’ll be fun to see if I can reach this goal.
Have 150 games completed at 100%
– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 111
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 112
Focusing on only 1-2 games at a time also puts a real damper on this goal as well for obvious reasons. While 150 isn’t so far away, I know that some of the games that I’ve completed will probably get DLC making this get set back even more. It’s an uphill battle, but I think I can do it this year.
Have an overall completion rating of 75%
– Starting Completion Rate: 53.44%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.61%
An actual win for this month because I totally thought this number would drop drastically. I’m happy that it didn’t. Although it didn’t make the progress that I had hoped for, as long as this number doesn’t go down I’m a pretty happy camper. 75% seems like a really far away number, but I’ll continue to strive for it.
Complete 10 RANDOM games featured in my I Never Finished…Because…blog
– Starting Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
– Ending Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
Yeah, this number didn’t go anywhere this month. Not from a lack of trying because I really do want to get back into some of the games that I talked about in this blog. It’s just a lack of time since I only have so much time to game each week. I always find myself going to the newer games instead of revisiting some of the older ones because I just don’t have enough time to play them all. Ah, adult problems. I’ll get something for this goal this year though…eventually.
Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.
– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 2
– Ending Number of completed games in my backog: 2
This number stayed the same this month because it was a month of new games only. I only played games that I had recently purchased and really had no time to work on my backlog. I was making some progress, but that’s probably going to come to a standstill at least for now anyway. I think once I get all of these new games out of my system and are done with them I’ll go back to playing games that have been sitting around for a while.
Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.
– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 2
No pre-orders this month as the rest of the gaming year is kind of up in the air at the moment. I’ve been waiting for the new South Park game, but that release date keeps changing. I really don’t want to lock it down until I know that it has a definite release date. I can see myself pre-ordering this game a week before it comes out just to make sure that it doesn’t change again. Other than that, I’m thinking it’s going to be a some what dull year when it comes to pre-orders or they’re all going to hit at once and I’ll go over my limit. Right now I’m happy to be sitting at 2 out of the 5 I had planned.
And that was my month. Not that exciting at all and I think that this month will probably be more of the same. I’m really enjoying my time in Andromeda despite the obvious reasons and I’m pretty sure that after I finish my first playthrough I’ll probably start another. I am going to try and make time for some other games this month but I have no idea how many of these goals I’ll be able to work on. I’ll let you know how everything worked out for me next month.
