I Never Finished Dragon Fantasy Book I…Because

Dragon Fantasy Book 1

I bought this game because it looked super easy and it looked like an easy way to get some trophies and to get some use out of my neglected PS Vita. It was also a cross-buy so If I didn’t like it on my PS Vita I would be able to play on my PS3. Win-win right? Wrong. I never finished this game so keep reading to find out why.

Dragon Fantasy Book I, tells three different stories. The first story is about Ogden who is a washed up hero who wants to get back to doing what he does best which is being a hero. The other stores are about…I have no idea because I barely got past the first one. Anyway, this whole game is basically a 16 bit turn based RPG and I know I only played the first story, but I’m thinking the whole game is like that too. The other three stories involve other characters with other problems, from what I’ve heard, and the last story is one that’s dedicated to Minecraft. So there you have it.

I have to say that I love RPG games. They are my favorite genre of games and I absolutely adore them. This one though. Not so much. I really couldn’t get into the game and had an extremely hard time completing the first chapter of this game. Maybe it was the 16 bit style, or maybe it was just because I felt like I would always get locked into battle no matter what I was doing. For that reason I finished up the first story and then tried to get into the second story, but just couldn’t. I’ve tried multiple times over the years too, but never with any success as I’ve tried to play it again on my PS Vita and on my PS3. I thought that changing the system would help, but it didn’t. Since I could never really get into this game no matter what platform I played on, that’s why I never finished it.

As you can see from the trophy snapshot above, I was able to get a total of a sad and pathetic 3 out of the 12 trophies there are for this game. This is sad because the rest of the trophies are super easy and there’s nothing hard about them, you just have to play the game which I just can’t seem to do. This really just sucks and I hate that I can’t go back and get those 9 trophies that I’m missing no matter what I do.

Probability of this game getting played again…1 out of 5.

While I really want to complete this game and get it off my backlog and never finished list, I don’t see it happening. I’ve basically given up on this game because I’ve tried to play it so many times and failed. It’s just not happening. Period. I really wish I could finish it though so that has to count for something right?

Now it’s your turn. Did you love this game? Hate it? Which system did you play it on? Let me know down in the comments section below. Now for next week, a big entry in my I never finished series. I say big because this game was the first out of many that I was able to complete the whole story and was working on getting the platinum trophy for because I played for weeks, but it just didn’t happen. Anyway, I’ll go into the whole story next week and let you know why I never finished Grand Theft Auto V.

This Week in Trophies 09-30-2018 – 10-06-2018

This was another awesome week of gaming for me as I crushed it again in the trophy department. I really had a great time gaming this week and even though I crushed it in the trophy department, I still really wish that I had more time to game. Doesn’t every adult though? Anyway onto the trophies that I was able to get for the week.

Marvel’s Spider-Man – 100%

I finally got the platinum trophy for this game. This was a huge success for me and I can’t wait to talk more about this game in my upcoming review this Wednesday.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – 12%

I was extremely hyped about this game and when I finally got it on Friday I couldn’t wait to play it. Turns out the hype is real and I am really loving each and every aspect of this game. I can’t play enough of it and at this point it feels like I have to force myself to play other games that I was playing in order to finish them up when all I really want to do is play this game 24/7.

Far Cry 3 Classic Edition – 26%

I’m still enjoying this game as I’ve only really been playing it one day a week. I’m going to try and up that, but with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey I feel like it’s going to be impossible. I will try and switch things up a bit, but we’ll see how it goes.

Life is Strange 2 – 18%

I finally finished the first episode of this game which means I’m not going to say a lot about it here and you’ll have to wait for my review which will be out next Wednesday.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider – 17%

I really don’t know what to think about this game. When I’m playing it I feel like I can’t put it down, when I’m not playing it, it’s the last thing on my mind. I’m on the fence with this game and I think I just need to progress through the story a little bit more and see how things go.

I’m slowly making my way through this game and heading towards the platinum trophy. Since I’m playing on the PS Vita it makes it a little easier to play since I’m just basically playing whenever I’m watching something boring on TV or something that I’m really not into. It’s a great game for that.

And that’s it for this week, a total of 42 trophies which makes me extremely happy since by the end of the month this is going to completely drop to nothing as I head off to Spooky Empire, which promises to be the darker side of comic-con. That’s not until the end of the month though so I have plenty of time to make up for all the gaming that won’t be done that weekend. For the upcoming week I’m going to try and mix things up and play some Assassin’s Cred Odyssey, Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I want to give these games some equal time and attention so we’ll see how that goes and I’ll let you know my progress on the trophies next week.

This Week in Trophies 09-23-2018 – 09-29-2018

Can I say that I’m pretty damn impressed with myself this week when it comes to trophies? You’ll know why by the end of this blog when I give you the actual number of trophies, but it was just pretty amazing. I couldn’t believe the final count myself because I haven’t had a week like this in forever. Anyway, onto the trophies!

Far Cry 3: Classic Edition – 17%

I bought and started this game last week because to be honest it’s probably one of my favorite Far Cry games. This is most likely because it was my first Far Cry game that I played on the PS3. So a little nostalgia came into the mix here as I decided to buy and play this game again. I’m having a pretty good time playing this game again and I’m pretty happy with the progress that I was able to make during one gaming session. I can’t wait to continue to play this game and get the platinum for the second time.

Life is Strange 2 – 10%

I started this game really late last night and wasn’t able to fully complete the first episode, and by that I mean that I wasn’t able to go back and grab a few collectibles that I missed so I’ll be doing that this week. I’m still not sure what to think about this game at the moment and am going to need some time to process before writing my review of this game.

Life is Strange 2Life is Strange 2Life is Strange 2Life is Strange 2Life is Strange 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man – 57%

I would say that I’m progressing nicely on this game and I’m happy with my progression. As far as the game itself goes, I’m kind of on the borderline when it comes to this game. I think that maybe I’m not a part of the huge Spider-Man hype that has been going on for a while and I just basically jumped into this game blindly and it makes it a little less enjoyable for me. Don’t get me wrong I love swinging around NYC and seeing all the sights and how well they were done, but the storyline for this game is falling a little flat for me.

Minecraft – 27%

I really had no intention of playing this game this week. It’s not like I had time to jump back into my game and actually play for an endless amount of hours, but someone on my friends list this week did and I was able to reap some of the rewards. So yeah, that’s basically what these trophies were, the hard work and dedication put in by someone else and I just happened to jump into their game, got my trophies and ran out.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider – 8%

I picked this game up last week when I went through my little binge buying state and I started playing. At the moment, while I’m enjoying the little time that I had to play this game I’m completely lost on the story. Guess I should have finished Rise of the Tomb Raider before starting this game. As I progress I think I’ll do fine though. We’ll see how it goes as it’s kind of going down the same path as the other newer Tomb Raiders and it’s getting a little boring even at the beginning.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season – 31%

I played the second episode of this game this week, but unfortunately did not actually get all the trophies so like the first episode I’ll have to go back and play again. That being said I really did enjoy this episode and I’m really sad that Telltale is closing its doors and that this game may never be finished. I know I’ve complained about Telltale plenty of times with their wonky quick time events, crashes, horrible loading times, and the list can go on, but they were a decent company that made some pretty memorable games and they will be very much missed as a lot of their games go unfinished.

Do you know what this game is great for on the PS4? Playing while you’re on hold with the cable company because your internet isn’t working. I was on hold with the cable company a lot this week as I had problems with my internet and needing to keep myself busy I played this game. Turned out to be good in my favor as I was at least able to get a trophy in.

Word Search by POWGI (PS Vita) – 64%

Do you know what this game is great for on the PS Vita? Playing while you watch a bunch of TV shows that no longer hold your interest because it’s TV season again. So many times this week when I watched TV I found myself picking up my Vita and playing because a lot of my favorite shows have become boring and unwatchable for another season so instead I played this. Turned out to be a good thing because I was able to get 12 trophies for this game.

Are you ready for my total number of trophies this week? I certainly wasn’t when I first seen it, but it’s 68. 68 trophies in the matter of one week! This is one of the best trophy hunting weeks I’ve had in the longest times. I’m super happy with this number and for next week, I’m going to try and do more of the same with less interruptions to my streaming. For this upcoming week I plan on continuing to play and maybe finishing Marvel’s Spider-Man, continuing to play Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, continuing to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and starting Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at end of the week. I’ll let you know how everything goes next week.

Most Anticipated Game for October 2018

October 2018

I have to say that the next two months are going to be super exciting for me as I’m looking forward to not one but three day one pre-orders that are coming out. One is from a franchise that I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever to come out, another is from a franchise that I have a love/hate relationship with, and the other is from a franchise that I love. Anyway, unless you can guess what games I’m talking about let’s take a look at the release schedule.

*Just as a side note, my list of October releases is not perfect. There might be some missing, or some dates may change. If you have anything you want to add feel free to let me know in the comments and I’ll include it in the list.*

Psyvariar Delta – PS4

That is a huge list of games that are coming out for October, making it basically a typical October for a gamer. I’m totally prepared for my wallet to cry as my most anticipated games for the month are Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2. Usually pre-ordering two games a month are a no-no for me, but I can’t pass up on either of these games and they’re going to be day one buys for me. There is no way around it and I’ll just have to suffer a little as I pre-order these two games.

Now it’s your turn? Are you looking forward to the same games that I am or something different like Call of Duty? Let me know down in the comments section below. Next month will also be an eventful month and I really can’t wait for one release, but you’ll have to come back next month to see what game it is.

Most Anticipated Game for September 2018

September 2018

I can’t believe this is actually happening, where I’m writing about the most anticipated game for September of this year already. Can you? Another year has just flown right on by and we are coming up on the biggest gaming season of the year, which is my favorite, even though it kind of breaks the bank each time. Anyway, let’s jump into what’s coming out in September and if I’ll be playing any of it.

*Just as a side note, my list of September releases is not perfect. There might be some missing, or some dates may change. If you have anything you want to add feel free to let me know in the comments and I’ll include it in the list.*

There you have it, a huge list of games that are coming out for the month of September. I’m actually pretty impressed by this list and the only game that really interests me is Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I know a lot of you are going crazy over the new Spider Man game, but I’m not one of those people and I’m also not one of those people who will be picking up Shadow of the Tomb Raider day one. I will most likely be saving this game for a holiday sale since I never finished Rise of the Tomb Raider. So until October I’ll be sticking to my backlog.

Now it’s your turn. What game interests you the most for the month of September? Any of them, a lot of them, none of them? Let me know down in the comments section, and then when the time comes we’ll talk about a month that I’m really excited for, and that’s October.

This Week in Trophies 08-05-2018 – 08-11-2018

After my impressive trophy haul last week, I wasn’t sure if I could keep it up this week and was really nervous that I would drop down to my usual 7 trophies or even less. I have to say that I totally kicked ass again this week and only fell short in the trophy department by two trophies. I couldn’t even believe it when I was looking at my stats for the week. With that being said, let’s get into the trophies for this week.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate – 65%

Now that I’ve finished the game, I had my final stream of the story mode this past Friday, I just have to go back and finish up some random trophies in order to get the platinum. This is usually where the fatigue part of a game comes in, but the trophies that I’m missing are so do-able that it would be just crazy if I didn’t see it through and get them done.

Castaway Paradise – 93%

Although I also finished streaming this game, because no one really wants to see me run around collecting shells and just trying to power level, I’m still trying extremely hard to get this platinum trophy. It’s going to take a lot of grinding, but if I make it a daily ritual type game like Gems of War and Fallout Shelter then I think that I can do it.

Castaway ParadiseCastaway ParadiseCastaway ParadiseCastaway ParadiseCastaway ParadiseCastaway ParadiseCastaway Paradise

Fallout Shelter – 84%

Talking about Fallout Shelter, I was able to make some more progress on this game this week. I’m not really enjoying it as I’m over this game, but I just need to finish up a few more trophies to finally be free of this game and get my first Fallout platinum trophy.

Fallout ShelterFallout Shelter

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – 18%

I’ve heard so many good things about this game that I finally bought it and started to play it this week. I’m in the middle of liking it and being so freaked out by it that I don’t even want to play it. I’m not sure if I’m even going to make it through my playthrough because the corruption that grows on you each time you die is up to my elbow already. Here’s hoping I can get through this game in one playthrough.

Hellblade: Senua's SacrificeHellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Steven Universe: Save the Light – 13%

If you follow this blog or follow me on Twitter, you know how much I love Steven Universe. I just had to have this game and I’ve been having a blast playing it. Sure, it’s aggravating at times with the lack of map and is really a poorly made RPG, but it’s Steven Universe so I kind of love it.

Steven Universe: Save the LightSteven Universe: Save the LightSteven Universe: Save the LightSteven Universe: Save the LightSteven Universe: Save the Light

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – Collection – 3%

I really didn’t think I would be playing through the whole series of The Walking Dead again, but here I am because it came with the pre-order and came with a bunch of new trophies and a new platinum. This is the fourth time that I’m playing through the first two seasons and will be the second time I’m playing through the third season and the Michonne part. Even though I thought I would be suffering from some The Walking Dead fatigue from playing the same game so much, I’m actually loving it.

Word Search by POWGI (PS4) – 26%

I found this little game by surprise this week and just couldn’t pass it up because it was a cross-buy and it was only $8. I even convinced my friend @tjarvinen86 to get it and we’re kind of in this competition to see who can get the platinum first. He totally will since she’s been playing this game non-stop, but you never know I might just surprise him and snatch up the platinum before he does.

Word Search by POWGI (PS Vita) – 29%

I did say that this was a cross-buy and even though I should have probably just stuck to one system instead of two, that just wasn’t happening so here I am playing both at the same time. This one is a little easier for me to play because I can bring my PS Vita anywhere. More specifically, I can bring it to work and that’s what’s helping me progress with this game.

And that’s it for the week, a total of 43 trophies. Two weeks with over 40 trophies in each week is extremely rare for me and I would love to keep up this pace, but I’m not sure that I’ll be able to. We’ll all see how everything works out next week as I continue to basically follow the same routine that I’ve been following because it works. Also my OCD brain loves the routine, so I’ll let you know how things turn out next week.

Most Anticipated Game for August 2018

August 2018

Another month has gone by and another month is coming up that might or might not be filled with games to be played, pre-ordered, or saved for another time. I’m thinking that August is going to be pretty bleak though as most games are releasing in the fall. Anyway, let’s take a look what’s coming out for the month of August.

*Just as a side note, my list of August releases is not perfect. There might be some missing, or some dates may change. If you have anything you want to add feel free to let me know in the comments and I’ll include it in the list.*

08/07/2018

Bridge Constructor Portal – PS4

08/31/2018
Soldam: Drop, Connect, Erase – PS4
Divinity: Original Sin II – PS4
Naruto to Boruto: ShinobiStriker – PS4
Penguin Wars – PS4

And that’s it for the month. The only game for this month that interests me is We Happy Few. I’m not even sure if that’s the correct release date because it just doesn’t look right. Although I’ve been waiting for this game since it was first announced, I’m a little hesitant to buy it. I think that instead of pre-ordering it I’ll probably save it for sale time if it actually comes out on this date. Anyway, that means it’s another month of backlog for me.

Now it’s your turn, let me know what you’re playing for the month of August. Is it something listed here or something in your backlog? Let me know down in the comments section below.

Most Anticipated Game for July 2018

July 2018

What an E3 this year, am I right? There were a bunch of games shown, a bunch of them come out this very year, a lot of them come out at some point in the future, but it was a show to remember, which means that my backlog is going to just continue to grow as more new games to come out. None of that matters though as we look forward to the month ahead and see if there is anything coming out that’s worth playing.

*Just as a side note, my list of July releases is not perfect. There might be some missing, or some dates may change. If you have anything you want to add feel free to let me know in the comments and I’ll include it in the list.*

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 – PS4

07/27/2018
Hello Neighbor – PS4

07/31/2018
The Banner Saga Trilogy – PS4
Flipping Death – PS4

And that’s the month of July for you. This basically means that I’ll be sticking to my backlog the whole month as I try, as always, to finish as many games as possible before the big releases start coming out. The only thing on this list that looks a little interesting to me and I might purchase at a later time is Jurassic Park Evolution because who hasn’t ever wanted to make your own park of dinosaurs and just wait for something to go wrong.

Now it’s your turn, let me know what you’re playing for the month of July. Is it something listed here or something in your backlog? Let me know down in the comments section below.

I Never Finished…Men’s Room Mayhem…Because

Men's Room Mayhem

This is one of those rare PS Vita games that I purchased digitally and was never able to sell it and make back my money or make more on what I spent, so yeah I spent actual money on this game. A whole 99 cents to be exact! Anyway, this was my first PS Vita purchase and I did so for two reasons. One I love time management games and two it was 99 cents. Anyway, I never finished this game, so keep reading to find out why.

In Men’s Room Mayhem, you use the touch screen of the PS Vita in order to lead various different men in various different bathrooms to the urinal if they have to pee, a stall if they have to poop, and then if you’re a clean freak like me to the sink to wash their hands, before leading them to the exit. Sounds simple right? Not really because if the men accidently run into each other they’ll get into a fist fight and then there’s blood all of your clean bathroom floor! You only get so many chances to get these men in and out of the bathroom. Can you do it without spilling any blood? Maybe, maybe not.

The first thing that I have to say is that this game was totally worth the 99 cents that I paid for it. I’ve spent so many hours on this game that it’s insane. I like that I can just sit back and put this game on at any time and feel like I’ve been playing it for ages when I haven’t played it in the longest time. It’s just one of those games that you can pop in and out of without a problem. So, I really like playing this game when my brain just feels…overactive. Like I have a million things to think about and my brain is like WTF is going on because this makes me concentrate on doing a specific task in a specific amount of time and a specific way. It’s really nice to be able to do. Anyway, not only is the game good for that but it’s actually fun. Yes I know it sounds a little gross and it kind of is, but it’s still super fun. So why haven’t I finished it yet? Believe me that it’s not from lack of trying because I’ve been trying to finish this game for 5 years. Yes, 5 years. So the one thing that made me never finish this game is a trophy!

As you can see from the picture above, I was able to get every single trophy for this game but one. It’s so damn annoying because I’ve been so close and the trophy should be super easy but it’s not. My last trophy is to complete all the gold objectives and I just have one more gold objective to complete! I just can’t do it though. In one playthrough I have to get 18 (I think it’s 18, the last time I played was last year during a hurricane) men to wash their hands in a row and for the life of me I just can’t do it. I’ve tried so many times on so many levels, watched other people do it and I just can’t do it.

Probability of this game getting played again…5 out of 5.

Hurricane season looks like it’s going to be an active one this year with the first named storm passing by before Hurricane season actually started, so I think I’ll be getting a lot of use out of my PS Vita. If and when I do, I’ll be playing this game because it helps me concentrate on the game instead of the howling winds outside. It’s a really good distraction game. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it, but if we’re lucky enough to not get a direct hit from a hurricane this year and I don’t get to play this game believe me I won’t be disappointed.

Now it’s your turn. Did you pick up this little gem of a game or was it too gross for you? If you picked it up, did you love it or hate it? Let me know down in the comments section below and for next week a game that I used to try and reconcile with my “friend”. She said the game was good like she always did and said she would play the multiplayer with me so I said I would get the game and I figured we could try to be friends again. Turns out she totally screwed me over and I ended up with a game that I never wanted in the first play and then never finished. So next week I’ll tell you more on why I never finished Crysis 2.

I Never Finished…Germinator…Because

Germinator

After Batman: Arkham City, which you can read about why I never finished it here, I was kind of pissed at my “friend.” And I have this thing where when I really know people I have no filter, so I kind of bitched her out about how I always felt suckered into playing games that she wanted to play or wanted me to play and I was just done. Needing some time to cool down because I thought it would help our friendship, I turned to my PS Vita and a free PS+ game that I had picked up. Unfortunately, I didn’t play it for that long and never finished it.

Germinator is kind of a match three type of game, but different. It’s different because it’s not really done like match three game and the basis of the game is that there’s this contagion outbreak and it’s up to you, the Germinator (Get it? A take on the Terminator? Don’t worry, I didn’t either until I was writing this.) to put a stop to it. You’ll do so by shooting different colored germs at the same matching colors on the board while the board rises up towards you. There are over two hundred levels for this game and a bunch of different modes to play on which should mean hours upon hours of fun right?

Wrong. The only reason I can think of for not finishing this game is that I was not having fun. I love nothing more than mindless games where I can just sit there and stare at the screen and not have a care in the world, but it just wasn’t happening with this game. Plus, the game really wasn’t that good either. If you play a game that’s not fun, then it’s not a good game. What’s the whole point then? Games are supposed to be fun. This game simply wasn’t and while I lasted a little while playing this game I eventually gave up and moved onto something else.

As you can see from the picture above I was able to get 1 out of the 12 trophies this game has to offer. It was a pretty decent trophy to get which was to beat one of the levels in under 30 seconds. It’s probably the one time in gaming that I felt like a badass. Who beats a level in under 30 seconds? Apparently me and everyone else who played this game because it’s a common trophy. Other than that the other trophies range from rare to ultra-rare and are for beating the game and all it’s different modes. For only 12 trophies, it’s a lot of work.

Probability of this game getting played again…1 out of 5.

At the moment I have no desire to play this game, but then again hurricane season is right around the corner and I like to keep my PS Vita stashed with some games just in case there’s an actual hurricane and I need something to do besides hide in my house and listen to the wind blowing outside. So, this game might actually get played this year or it might not. It’s all up to mother nature now.

Now it’s your turn. Did you love this game? Hate it? Even play it and get more than one trophy? Let me know down below in the comments section and for next week, it was back to the PS3 and back to a game that I started the previous year but just couldn’t get into it. This time I had some incentive though as my “friend” wanted to play the multiplayer before it was completely dead and get all of the trophies. I thought that maybe this game would get us out of this funk we were in, but it turns out that it didn’t and made things even worse. I’ll let you know more about that and why I never finished BioShock 2 next week.
