I Never Finished…Scott Pilgrim vs. The World…Because

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Another free PS+ game as I gave up on my quest to finish my games in alphabetical order. Yeah, you knew that was going to happen right? Anyway, the funny thing about this game was that I downloaded it because it was free, but I also downloaded it because at the time it was my then-friend’s most favorite movie in the entire world and I had never seen the movie. Makes no sense right? Tell me about it. So the plan was that I would play the game and then we would watch the movie together. Thing is I never finished the game.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World let’s you play as multiple different characters, that you know from the movie and graphic novels, as you loosely follow the graphic novels plot and try to defeat Ramona’s seven evil ex’s. This game is one of those action packed 2D side scrollers that doesn’t let you progress into the next screen until all enemies on your current screen have been defeated. Each different character has their own move sets which makes the game easier or harder depending on your play style.

I was really into this game and was having a good time with it until the final boss battle. For the life of me I couldn’t beat the last boss. I have no idea why and to this day I don’t know what the hell was going on when I was playing. Anyway that was the one and only reason why I never finished this game. I just gave up. When you lose over and over and over again, sometimes it’s just best to put down the controller and never pick it up again.

So did you ever watch the movie? Actually, I did watch the movie. That same year for my birthday, I rented the movie, my then-friend already owned the movie, and we watched it together while talking over the phone. It was actually a really great birthday. I hadn’t had one of those in a while, but the real question is did I like the movie? While I told my then-friend that I did. Friends don’t poo-poo their friend’s favorite movie, I actually didn’t. Sorry, just not my type of movie.

As you can see from the picture above I was able to get 4 out of the base 12 trophies. There were another 7 DLC trophies added later on. I never bothered getting the DLC, but the regular trophies that I had left would only require a few more tedious playthroughs which isn’t impossible. Anyway, I probably got the easiest trophies this game had to offer.

Trophy Milestone! This game gave me one of my trophy milestones. If you frequent PSNProfiles.com, then you know that they not only track your trophies, but also these small milestones in trophy hunting. Anyway, the trophy from this game Shopaholic was my 1,000th trophy. That was five years ago and it’s kind of crazy to think about it like that.

Probability of this game getting played again…2 out of 5.

While the possibility of this game being played again is very low and probably won’t happen, I won’t rule it out either. This game has some nostalgia for me and one day I might pick it up and give it a go even it makes me want to toss my controller out the window. For now though, this game will sit on my currently unused PS3 along with every other PS+ game that I downloaded and never finished.

Now it’s your turn. How did you feel about this game? Was it too difficult for you to beat, there’s no shame in admitting that. Are you a fan of the movie / graphic novels and decide to pick this game up, or were you like me and only picked it up because it was free? Let me know in the comments section and as for next week, another PS+ game that I got for free and never finished. Hell, I think I played one match, didn’t know what the hell was going on and shut the game off. Next week I’ll let you know why I never finished NFL Blitz.
