The Countdown to MegaCon – Part 7

Just when I thought the announcements for MegaCon were done and I was basically set for this years show, a few more announcements rolled in along with one cancelation. I’m pretty sure this is going to be my last blog because as much as I can’t believe it, MegaCon is next week! I’m super excited so let’s get into those final announcements.

After Norman Reedus, I really thought that the lineup was packed, my Saturday and Sunday are going to be absolutely nuts, but there was still more! Making his first convention appearance at MegaCon is a True Blood star, not one that I wanted, but something for all of those True Blood fans out there.

Stephen Moyer

That’s right, the one and only Stephen Moyer from True Blood, and most recently The Gifted will be making an appearance at this years MegaCon. I would have thought that if they were going to bring a True Blood star it would have been Anna Paquin, but that’s just me. I was never really into True Blood anyway and I’m not into The Gifted and this is kind of a blessing in disguise because if I had to fit anyone else into my schedule it would be insane.

After this announcement, I figured that this was it, photo-ops were set to go on sale in a few days, but another announcement came and I was like huh? Anyway, this one is for all of the Stargate Atlantis fans out there.

Joe Flanigan

That’s right, John Sheppard himself, Joe Flanigan from Stargate Atlantis will be joining the MegaCon lineup this year. Again, another blessing in disguise because I had no idea there was even a Stargate Atlantis. I used to watch the original Stargate but kind of loss track of that, so I have no idea who this person is or what the show he was in was about.

So, I think this is the final announcement and it’s a big one according to my co-worker who constantly quotes 2001: A Space Odyssey and then looks at me funny when I have no idea what she’s talking about. Anyway, this is another announcement that I was just like OK, but apparently it’s a huge deal.

Keir DulleaGary Lockwood

That’s right the stars of 2001: A Space Odyssey Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood will be at MegaCon celebrating the 50th anniversary of this movie. To this day I still haven’t seen this movie and probably won’t since MegaCon is next week, so another blessing in disguise as I don’t know how to add any more photo-ops and autographs into my weekend.

CANCELLATIONS

It’s never a MegaCon without a cancelation and after being to so many of these shows I’ve learned not to be upset even if they were someone that I really wanted to meet. I was cautiously awaiting a cancellation too since I had already purchased my photo-ops. It seems like after I purchase them that’s when the cancellations roll in so while I was kind of waiting for a cancellation, I was kind of surprised that the cancellation turned out to be Renee O’Connor which means no Xena Team-Up Photo-Op.

Renee OConnor - Cancelled

THE MEGACON CHAIR!

MegaCon Chair

Yes this is the final image of the MegaCon chair before everything gets sorted into bags based on what I’ll be doing on what day. I know this chair is a complete and utter mess and I do miss my chair so it’ll be a welcomed thing to sort everything into neat little baggies for each day so that I know what I’m taking and when I’m taking it. There are some things missing from the chair because I have to go and get them down from walls because they already have existing signatures on them, but this is basically it.

And that’s a wrap with the countdown! If something huge comes up though I will do one final blog, but I’m kind of feeling like this is a wrap since it’s literally a week away. Anyway, if you’re heading to MegaCon drop me a line down in the comments section below and let me know what you’re most excited for. As always, I’ll have a bunch of stuff to tell you guys after the show and I just can’t wait!

The Countdown to MegaCon 2018 – Part 6

MegaCon is less than a month away and I have to say that even though I’m not too excited about the guest list this year as I was in the years past, I’m still pretty hyped to go and have a jam packed schedule that I’m going to try and keep. Anyway, my last blog ended with the announcement of Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor. Since then there have been some more announcements, so let’s get into them.

Next up was the typical annoucment of a bunch of voice actors that were kind of just bulked together with two main characters from The Little Mermaid. I really don’t like when they do this because it makes people who aren’t looking all that much at the actual website, like I do, kind of miss out on the other voice actors that are going to be there. If you’re going to make announcements, I think that there should be one made for each person. It gets you more attention on social media and gives your guests the credit they deserve.

Jodi BensonChristopher Daniel BarnesSusan EganJeremy ShadaVanessa Marshall

So from the Little Mermaid we have, Jodi Benson and Christopher Barnes, who was at MegaCon last year. This is kind of an eh type of moment because I know they are two iconic characters from an iconic Disney movie, but it’s just not my thing. Anyway, also it wasn’t announced but just posted on their website that other voice actors including Susan Egan known for Disney’s Hercules, Jeremy Shada known for Adventure Time, and Vanessa Marshall from the animated Star Wars would also be attending. These are all a pass for me, but it’s always nice to see voice actors attending these events.

Next up was a big one for Star Wars fans, not so much for me, but that’s usually how it goes when it come to announcements most of the time. This really doesn’t upset me because if I got excited over every single person that was going, I would be spending a lot of time and money trying to get autographs and photo-ops.

Billy Dee Williams

That’s right, the one and only Lando from Star Wars, Billy Dee Williams, will be putting in an appearance at MegaCon this year. This is pretty cool and I’m sure there will be a ton of people waiting at his line to see him..

Next up was something unexpected and kind of a goof on the MegaCon crew. This isn’t the first year that MegaCon has WWE stars, but it is the first year since Fan Expo took over that there will be WWE stars attending the event. There are a bunch of them and I was really excited for one, Chris Jericho, until he said on Twitter himself that he didn’t even know about this and that he basically wouldn’t be attending and then all of the tweets and posts and everything else about him was extinguished from the site. Other WWE stars are attending though and I actually know one of them since I’m not as big of a WWE fan as I used to be so I will be doing one autograph and photo-op.

John CenaAlexa BlissBraun StrowmanShinsuke Nakamura

John Cena, Alexa Bliss, Braun Stroan, and Shinsuke Nakamura will all be attending MegaCon. I have to say I have no idea who the last three people are, but I know who John Cena is. I never really liked him as a wrestler, funny that I’m going to meet him though, but I do respect him as a person because of everything that he does for our troops and the Make a Wish foundation. Because of that there’s an extra photo-op and autograph to add to the list.

Next up was the announcement of the same Anime stars that were announced for the third time, but there was also some more Anime stars added to the list, just not announced in the same way which again is wrong. You have to announce these other people as well because they should get the recognion they deserve especially if they are attending your event.

Maile FlanaganMax MittlemanVeronica Taylor

Maile Flanagan, Max Mittleman, and Veronica Tayler will all be attending MegaCon. These are some pretty high profile Anime voice actors and for them to not get the recognition they deserve from the actual event just kind of sucks. But they’re getting it here.

Next up was the announcement of two high profile video game voice actors that got my attention, because one of the reasons I started attending this event was not for the high profile actors that they have, but for the voice actors. I wanted to see the people behind the voice that I spent 60+ playing as. Anyway, if I’m this excited it must be that these voice actors are from one of my favorite games, which they totally are. They’re from Mass Effect, which was just exciting because I love meeting Mass Effect voice actors.

Mark MeerFred Tatasciore

This time around we have Mark Meer, who plays Man Shepard, and Fred Tatasciore, who plays Saren. If you read this blog you know that I have never played a full playthrough of Mass Effect as Man Shepard. I tried once to get into Miranda’s pants, but I just couldn’t. Anyway, I do enjoy the other voices that Mark Meer plays in the various Mass Effect games, and my absolute favorite is Niftu Cal. Fred Tatascoire is also amazing as the first villain in the Mass Effect series and I’m excited to meet both of them.

I have to say that since the announcements have started, I’ve been waiting for my Firefly announcement. It seems like it isn’t a MegaCon without someone from Firefly. So where the hell was my Firefly announcement? It was coming a couple of days after the Mass Effect voice actor announcement and this one was a big one for me and got me pretty excited.

Jewel Staite

Jewel Staite is our Firefly representative this year and I’m totally excited to meet her. Firefly is just one of those shows that lives on even though it was cancelled so long ago. Anyway, I’m excited to get my Firefly poster signed for the second time, the first was Gina Torres last year, and this time get a photo-op in.

This next announcement, which just happened yesterday was kind of a shocker for me because usually at this time the announcements start to die down because of the time frame. Anyway, this one was pretty huge as he is a big Walking Dead star and being a fan of the show I’m always excited to see some Walking Dead stars at MegaCon.

Norman Reedus

That’s right we’re going to try this one more time as Norman Reedus has been announced that he was attending MegaCon. This is actually the third year in a row that he’s been announced. The first year he showed and I regret not waiting on line to get his autograph, but seriously the line was huge. So huge that they were giving tickets for people to come back because they couldn’t squeeze everyone in. The second year he cancelled, and here’s hoping that he’ll actually show this time and I can finally get my autograph and photo-op.

The MegaCon Chair!

MegaCon Chair

There has been so many things added to this chair since the last time I posted about MegaCon that I don’t even know what’s on here anymore and it’s just become one big pile of things to bring with me. I’m thinking my backpack may be too small since most appearances are on Saturday and Sunday. This kind of makes things crazy because you really only have Saturday to get autographs. After photo-ops on Sunday the guests like to high tail it out of there so that means a lot of autographs on Saturday and a lot of things to bring.

That’s it for now and I’m not expecting much more in the announcement department since the show is less than a month away, but if there is anything exciting going on, I’ll make sure to blog about it and let you know if I’m excited or not. Anyway, if you’re going to MegaCon drop me a line down in the comments section and let me know if you’re excited about this year’s lineup.

The Countdown to MegaCon 2018 – Part 5

The last time I left this blog, I was feeling a little eh about the whole MegaCon experience because there weren’t a lot of people that I wanted to go see. I just felt like last year was so huge and it was just such an amazing experience that I wanted that experience to happen again this year. Anyway, I did say that I would follow up and write a little bit more when more people were announced or something super exciting was announced. So this is kind of a both situation here, more people were announced and something super exciting was announced so let’s get into it.

We left of last time with the announcement of the Black Lightning cast and not too far off from that, there was another announcement that came with its own teaser that had me shrugging my shoulders. This usually means because I have no idea who the hell they’re going to be announcing. Anyway, this time it turns out that it was none other than Karl Urban.

Karl Urban

I know he’s been in a lot of movies and all and he is especially known for Star Trek, but I’m just not a fan so this is a skip for me and it was a little bit of a bummer when it was revealed and I just went on my way with a shrug of my shoulders. It’s not like I got the teaser anyway.

I’m really liking these teaser posts that MegaCon is doing on their Instagram page, especially if I know it and just a few days later another teaser was posted. All it said was “The Truth is Out There.” I totally knew that one and became super hyped because could it be true that X-Files stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson were going to be at MegaCon? Unfortunately the answer is no and instead, X-Files stars Mitch Pileggi, Annabeth Gish, and William B. Davis are going to be at MegaCon.

Mitch Pileggi Annabeth Gish William B. Davis

So while I was never really a huge X-Files fan, I catch the re-runs when I can now a days, I would have totally went to meet David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, but these three guests I’ll pass on.

Next up was a Lord of the Rings teaser on Instagram, which of course I didn’t get. I hate when I don’t get the teasers. I like them when I can get them and get a little frustrated when I can’t, it’s just a thing. Anyway, a short while after the teaser was posted, it was announced that Elijah Wood would be at MegaCon.

Elijah Wood

Not being a Lord of the Rings fan, you think this one would be a skip for me, but it’s totally not. Shocker right? Anyway, this isn’t a skip because Elijah Wood is in this really great little video game called Broken Age where he voices Shay. It just happens that I really like Broken Age and it’ll be great being able to meet someone from the game, although I’ve met Jennifer Hale on multiple occasions but usually get caught up in the whole Mass Effect thing when I finally go up to meet her and forget that she’s been in 300 other things. Anyway, I’m always excited to meet voice actors from games I’ve enjoyed.

The next person was just thrown out there and apparently didn’t deserve a teaser because of reasons and was just announced. It was like one of those surprise type of announcements, and that was fine with me because when they announced this next guest I really had no idea who she was. I really hate saying this because it sucks when I don’t know the people they announce, but in my defense she is staring in a show that I haven’t watched. Anyway, it’s Gifted star Amy Acker.

Amy Acker

After reading her biography a little more, I noticed that she was in Cabin in the Woods, which is a great movie and you should go see it, but it just didn’t get me excited enough to actually want to go meet her, so of course I am excited for the people who do want to meet her, but it’ll be a pass for me.

Remember when I said that there would have to be something huge for me to make another post or just a lot of guest announcements? While I have listed off a bunch of people, it’s not an insane amount, but this announcement was worth writing about because I do love cast reunions and I loved this show. I loved it so much that in my little closeted teenage mind I secretly wished for the two main characters to get together. They had so much chemistry! If I was seeing it, wasn’t the rest of the world? Anyway, the teaser of Warrior and a tiara were enough to get me cautiously excited because the X-Files teaser kind of turned out to be a bust, but this one wasn’t and it was announced that both Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor would be a MegaCon representing Xena: Warrior Princess.

Lucy Lawless Renee O'Conner

Oh My God! I was totally excited and did a little happy dance in my head when I seen the announcement because I was never able to make it to any of the Xena conventions and I always wanted to go. Now I finally get my chance to meet the stars and I’m just over the moon. This is a big one for me and I think that both actresses are great, so yeah I’m totally fangirling out over here.

The MegaCon Chair!

MegaCon Chair

My chair has grown once more, my Jurassic Park t-shirt finally came in and I was super excited when it did. Along with that I’ve added a Broken Age giclée for Elijah Wood to sign as well as a Broken Age shirt for the photo-op. What would you think about a photo-op that with Elijah Wood that recreates the Broken Age image of the two characters sitting back to back? I don’t know, I thought it would be a cool idea to toss out there, but I hate asking for anything special in the photo-ops. We’ll see if I can be outgoing enough. I also added a new Xena poster to be signed, but I’m still waiting for my SwanQueen shirt, which should be done soon, and my Xena shirt to come in. Once they do they’ll be added to the chair.

And that’s it for now. I’m back on the excited train at the moment for MegaCon which is a good thing. I’ll update this blog again when there are more announcements made or something huge is announced like the whole Xena thing. Anyway, if you’re attending MegaCon this year, drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think about the guest list so far.

The Countdown to MegaCon 2018 – Part 4

The last time I posted about MegaCon, which you can read here, ended on a pretty high note with the announcement of Hollywood icon Jeff Goldblum. I figured things could only go up from there and we were finally getting some of the guests that we deserved to get. Anyway, I kind of feel like the announcements took a little bit of a dip this time around, but here’s a breakdown of them.

After announcing that Jeff Goldblum would be attending MegaCon, it was then announced that everyone’s favorite Wookie would be joining the lineup. Of course people got excited because how cool would it before for Peter Mayhew to be at MegaCon? Turns out that it wasn’t Peter Mayhew but Joonas Suotamo.

Joonas Suotamo

As I’ve mentioned in the past I’m not a Star Wars fan, so this was an eh announcement for me, but if you’re excited about this announcement then I think that’s great. Anyway, this one will be a pass for me and a chance to save some money.

Next up was someone that cancelled the year before. He’s currently playing in Netflix’s Daredevil and it’ll be a shock if he actually shows up this time around, it’s Charlie Cox.

Charlie Cox

I wasn’t excited about this announcement last year since I don’t watch the show and I’m not excited about this announcement this year. For those of you to are excited I would say to err on the side of caution since he did cancel last year.

Next up was a reunion type of announcement. These are usually my favorites because where can you meet most of the people from your favorite movie in one place right? Anyway, it wasn’t that impressive for me as it was a cast announcement for the Princess Bride that included Cary Elwes, Chris Sarandon, and Wallace Shawn.

Cary Elwes Chris Sarandon Wallace Shawn

I know this is going to be another strike against me, but I’m not a fan of the Princess Bride. I watched this movie recently due to a co-worker bugging me because it was her favorite movie in the world. She lent me the DVD and I just couldn’t get into it. I will say though that I am a fan of Cary Elwes, who has been to MegaCon before. The first time he was there I went to get my Saw DVD autographed, but then decided not to because he was behind a closed in cover. What the hell? I thought it was a little arrogant and said the hell with it. Needless to say I will be skipping these three sessions even though I might try to get to the panel.

With that last announcement I was kind of like, “Ok, we’re back on track with some major announcements,” but I was wrong. Next up was a blast from the past that I could never really get into when he was big and have no interest now even though he had a short role in Gotham, which is a show that I love. It’s Paul Reubens.

Paul Reubens

It might just be me, but I can’t justify spending my money to see someone who first of all wasn’t really big for me during my childhood. I wasn’t a Pee-Wee Herman fan, I thought it was kind of silly even as a child and then giving my money to someone who kind of did some not so PG things. That’s just me though and if you’re excited to see him, then this is some great news for you.

The next guest announced, I have to admit I had no idea who he was because I haven’t gotten the chance to watch the new series on Hulu, Runaways. It’s on my list of shows to watch and maybe, just maybe I can watch before MegaCon and become more excited over the announcement of Gregg Sulkin.

Gregg Sulkin

As of right now this is a pass for me, but if I get a chance to watch Runaways and actually like it, my pass might turn into a maybe. We’ll just have to see how things go from here to MegaCon.

Next up is for all of my anime fans, including my tattoo artist who totally fangirled out about this announcement. He usually teases me for geeking out of people that are coming to MegaCon because as he says “dude, they’re just people,” anyway he was totally geeking out about the announcement of Chris Sabat and Sean Schemmel.

Chris SabatSean Schemmel

As many of you know I’m not an anime fan, but I will be attending these autograph sessions in order to bring back a really awesome gift for my tattoo artist who over the past two years of getting tattooed by him has become my friend. I usually pick him up something special and I think having some autographs by these guys will make him fangirl out which is funny to watch.

After all of these lackluster announcements, another day finally came that got me just a little more excited for MegaCon. That way the day that they announced the first person from The Walking Dead to get a little taste of Lucille. If you’re a Walking Dead fan, you know I’m talking about Michael Cudlitz, AKA Abraham Ford.

Michael Cudlitz

I am a huge Walking Dead fan and this was a pretty cool announcement. Abraham was always one of my favorite characters and I hated when they killed him off, but by now I’m pretty used to them killing off my favorite characters from the show. Anyway this will definitely be an autograph session and a photo-op session.

I’m kind of feeling like after the big MegaCon announcements, I’m always waiting for the next big announcement but then they announce people that I have no idea who they are and then I’m kinda like eh and kinda get bummed again. Anyway, after the last announcement the next one was for the cast of Black Lighting which includes Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams, and China McClain.

Cress Williams Nafessa Williams China McClain

I know about a lot of CW shows, but I’ve never heard of this one. Ever. Needless to say, I have no idea who these people are. As always, I’m excited for the people who are excited to see them, but on the other hand I’m a little disappointed with the guest list compared to last year. There’s still some time for more announcements, but that’s just how I feel at the moment.

The MegaCon Chair!

MegaCon_Chair

The MegaCon chair got a couple of things added to it including a Walking Dead Poster and my Walking Dead T-shirt. Yes I know it’s a Negan T-shirt, but I thought it would be cool to wear it for the Michael Cudlitz photo-op. I’m still waiting for my Jurassic Park T-shirt to come in and I’m still waiting for a friend of mine to make me a SwanQueen T-shirt. She’s been out of commission due a bad case of the flu so I’m wishing her a speedy recovery since I love the design for my SwanQueen shirt and can’t wait to show it off.

And that’s it for now. As always, I’ll try to keep this blog series as up to date as possible. I usually like to wait until there’s a decent amount of content to put into this blog so it might be a few more weeks before I post anything depending on who gets announced next. I can tell you one thing though if a really huge star gets announced that has me super excited I will dedicate a post just to them. Anyway, if you’re attending MegaCon this year, drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think about the guest list so far.

TwitchTwitterYouTube

The Countdown to MegaCon 2018 – Part 3

The last blog that I posted about MegaCon a few weeks ago I have to admit I was feeling a little disappointed because the guest list just wasn’t what it was for last year. I mean we’re basically three and a half months out and the guest list was looking kind of thin. While that didn’t change overnight. There were a few more additions this past week that did actually make me a little more excited about going, hoping that these people actually show up. At the moment I would say that I am cautiously excited. Anyway, onto the announcements.

First up was basically the entire cast to a very popular cartoon series. So I have this thing where I have to sleep with the TV on because of reasons and I of course watch Adult Swim. What else is there to watch at that time anyway? On occasion I have seen this show on when I get up in the morning and have been known from time to time to stay in bed just a little longer to catch some of the episode. This made me kind of excited that the whole Steven Universe cast would be making a special rare appearance at MegaCon.

Zach CallisonEstelleDeeDee MagnoMichela Dietz

That’s right Zach Callison, DeeDee Magno, Estelle, and Michaela Dietz will all be appearing at MegaCon this year. So yeah, even though this was kind of another small announcement as far announcements go, I’m still pretty excited about it. I think the part that was most exciting was that Estelle was going to be there because I am a fan of her music. If I’ll go and meet the cast and have something signed and pictures taken will be decided later on when the full guest list is announced. If anything I might just limit it to Estelle.

After that announcement came a surprising next day announcement which kind of made me think that maybe FanExpo were listening to MegaCon fans who as the majority seems on Facebook and Twitter weren’t really that pleased considering that Dallas is getting a pretty huge show and we’re kind of getting the left overs. This next announcement through blew all of that out of the water as a teaser showed Once Upon a Time’s star Jennifer Morrison as the next guest to be announced.

Jennifer Morrison

This was really exciting for me because in a previous blog I had mentioned how it would be nice to see some of the Once Upon a Time stars that were no longer on the series and now we have one. Not only was Jennifer Morrison an amazing Emma on Once Upon a Time, but she was also the not mother on How I Met Your Mother, and Dr. Alison Cameron on House. She’s also been in a bunch of other shows and so on and I’m pretty hyped. Cautiously hyped though. Anyway this will definitely be an autograph and photo-op for me. I already have my Once Upon a Time poster purchased and ready to go now I just need my T-shirt. I have found a SwanQueen shirt, of course I ship SwanQueen, but I have a friend who makes stuff and will probably see if I can get her to make one for me.

After that last announcement I thought the announcements would be done for at least a week or two, but I was completely wrong as the next day there was another major guest announcement. Now for me, the first time I seen this actor was in The Fly, but a lot of you will know him from his other hugely popular roles in Jurassic Park and Independence Day, it’s Jeff Goldblum.

Jeff Goldblum

I was also super excited about this announcement, once again cautiously so though, because it’s Jeff Goldblum. The man is an icon and has done a ton more than just these three movies. He’s had a career that has spanned decades and I look forward to meeting him and getting a table 8×10 signed along with a photo-op. The only problem I have with the photo-op is that I don’t know what kind of shirt to go towards. Should I go Jurassic Park…Independence Day…or something different? Suggestions are welcomed in the comments section.

The MegaCon Chair!

MegaCon Chair

It’s growing! Since the last blog, which you can take a look at here, I’ve added my Pink Power Ranger T-shirt for my selfie with Amy Jo Johnson, which is pretty cool by the way. I’ve also just recently added my Once Upon a Time poster and will eventually add my Once Upon a Time t-shirt along with a t-shirt for my photo-op with Jeff Goldblum.

That’s it for now, but rest assured that when more guest announcement’s come I will try to keep up with them as much as possible and keep you up to date. If you’re going to MegaCon make sure to drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know if you’re excited to meet any of the guests announced so far.

The Countdown to MegaCon 2018 – Part 2

With MegaCon being about four months away, time is flying already, I have to admit I was starting to get a little worried because we weren’t getting the same amount of guest announcements as we were last year. By this time last year, there were much more guest announcements and I was pretty excited. At this point my excitement is kind of wavering a bit even with the first major celebrity guest announcements.

Known for his work as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and more recently for his work as Aquaman in DC’s Justice League and the upcoming Aquaman movie, the first major celebrity guest was none other than Jason Momoa

Jason Momoa

I have to say that this had me pretty excited because while we were promised Game of Thrones guests in the past, they never really delivered and were cancelled last minute. I know that Jason Momoa was only on Game of Thrones for one season, but everyone who watches Game of Thrones knows who he is. I will definitely be getting in line for his autograph and have already decided that he will be my first photo-op. I will be taking on the same challenge I took on last year which was to wear a different shirt with each photo-op and I already have a shirt picked out already.

The next announcement came a couple of days ago and is one that will please many Dr. Who fans. Not only was she the Tenth Doctor’s regular companion, but she’s had her own sketch comedies and had a recurring role on the office. She now voices Magica De Spell in the reboot of Duck Tales. This next celebrity spot belongs to Catherine Tate.

Catherine Tate

So I’m not a Dr. Who fan…not an office fan…and haven’t seen anything else that she’s been in so this is going to be a skip for me. As always though I’m excited for the people who know who she is and are eagerly awaiting to meet her as it should be an awesome experience as it usually is with celebrity guests.

Just announced today, is basically a blast from my past and a blast from anyone who’s around my age’s past. I remember rushing home every day after school to watch the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers so it was kind of surprising to see that Amy Jo Johnson was announced.

Amy Jo Johnson

I will admit that I’m not super excited since after the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, she did a couple of shows here and there and not anything major. I will still most likely stop by her booth for an autograph and a selfie though because the inner child in me kind of demands it.

The MegaCon Chair!

MegaCon Chair

I figured I would give you a little inside look into what my life is like basically in the months before MegaCon and how I prepare. So as you can see, I take my normal office char and turn it into a dumping spot for everything that I’m taking with me to MegaCon. Right now it’s a little bare, but I’m hoping that it’ll start filling up soon as more guests are announced. It’s not like I need this chair for anything else right? So far I have most of my essentials for MegaCon which are a backpack to hold all of my stuff, a Game of Thrones season one poster for Jason Momoa to sign and a Game of Thrones t-shirt. As the list grows for celebrity guests so will the amount of items on this chair. Which reminds me I have to get a Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers shirt now.

That’s it for now, but rest assured that when more guest announcement’s come I will try to keep up with them as much as possible and keep you up to date. If you’re going to MegaCon make sure to drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know if you’re excited to meet any of the guests announced so far.

The Countdown to MegaCon 2018 – Part 1

With the start of November, came MegaCon’s first major guest announcement along with ticket prices and ticket sale dates. I want to discuss all of that and let’s start off by doing that and discussing the first major guest announcement that MegaCon has to offer.

MegaCon’s first major guest announcement is legendary creator Jim Lee. Jim Lee is a comic book artist writer editor and publisher who entered the industry in 1987 as an artist from Marvel comics. Lee then went on to start his own publishing company, Image Comics, before selling in 1998 to DC comics.

Jim Lee

I think this was a great first guest announcement because I was really curious as to who they were going to replace Stan Lee with since last year was his last appearance. I was kind of nervous though that Stan Lee would be making a return, although that would’ve been great, I’m kind a happy that he’s not and they have someone new to focus on. I think that even though I’m not that excited that Jim Lee will be there, I know that a lot of people are going to look forward to meeting him.

Now that we have the first guest announcement out-of-the-way, let’s talk about tickets. Tickets went on sale November 15, if you bought VIP tickets last year then you are already in on the pre-sale for this year‘s VIP tickets. If you were included in this pre-sale of VIP tickets I would hope that you picked them up because they go out really fast especially once the bigger guest announcements start coming in, I already have mine and I am set and ready to go to next years MegaCon.

If you didn’t get VIP tickets last year and you have to wait like everyone else to purchase your tickets on November 15. Let’s go into a quick breakdown of the tickets that you can get and their prices.

First you have the single day passes that’s if you plan on going just one day and only one day. The prices for single day passes have kind of increased and they go from Thursday at $20 in advance $25 at the door to Friday $35 in advance $40 at the door to Saturday $50 and advanced $55 at the door and Sunday $40 in advanced and $45 at the door.

I have to say that new to all the tickets is that they have are refundable tickets now. I’m assuming that this is because people get so hyped up when a guest is announced and then when a guest cancels for whatever reason they get pissy and now they have the option to get a refundable ticket instead of saying something like, “how they wasted money buying a ticket blah blah blah,” but in order to get that refund refundable ticket you are going to have to pay extra.

If you’re looking to go to MegaCon all four days and just want to standard pass it’s $99 in advance $110 at the door. This will also give you early access on Thursday and you’ll be able to get in at 2 PM instead of 4 PM. This is a great option if you just want to go and experience what MegaCon is like and you’re not really concentrating on celebrity guests and photo ops.

There’s also the addition of a family pass now that includes two adults and up to four children ages 6 to 12. These go by the day and for Thursday it’s $45 in advance $55 at the door, Friday $75 in advance and $85 at the door, Saturday $110 in advance and $120 at the door, and Sunday $85 in advance and $95 at the door. There’s also the option to buy a child pass which is $10 in advance and $10 at the door and this is for any child ages 6 to 12.

Getting into the premium pass now you get all four days to MegaCon for $139 in advance, these tickets are not available at the door, and with this package there are a bunch of different collectibles, exclusive‘s and all of the goodies that you get including a free single day general admission excluding Saturday to all Fan Expo HQ events until next year‘s MegaCon. You’ll also be able to get in on Thursday at 2 PM instead of 4 PM. It’s not a bad deal and I went for this one in 2016 and was pretty happy with it at the time.

Then you have the VIP package which is $429 in advance and not available at the door. This will sell out quickly depending on who they start announcing will be at MegaCon so my suggestion is that if you are going there to meet a bunch of celebrity guests and you want to go to see a bunch of celebrity panels then this is really the option for you because not only do you get all of the things that are included in the premium package but you also get some extra goodies thrown in there for being a VIP and you basically get to cut the line on the celebrity autograph lines and the photo up lines. Getting to cut the line for the autographs and photo ops is one of the perks of having this pass as well as getting 1st to 5th row seating at the major panels.

No matter the package or passes that you get though you’re bound to have a great time because there’s one thing that MegaCon does and it’s put on a really great show every time even with cancellations and all that other stuff that goes with going to conventions they still manage to pull off a really great show every single year and it’s one of the things that keeps me coming back.

Pro tip – I know when the announcement of really big guest star coming it’s hard not to be extremely excited but don’t get yourself so excited that if that guest cancels it’s going to ruin your whole experience. One of the major things you should remember when going to a convention is not to bank on having that one celebrity guest there that you really really really really really want to meet because most likely they will cancel and you’ll feel like your dreams have been crushed, this happened to me on one occasion, and from then I’ve learned to be cautiously excited when a guest that I really want to meet is announced.

Now I want to hear from you guys. Is there anyone out there actually going to next year’s MegaCon? Are you excited about the first major guest announcement? Who are you hoping they announce next? Let me know in the comment section below and as usual when MegaCon starts rolling out more guest announcements I will be updating this blog and trying to give you the most up-to-date news as possible.
