Frequently Asked Video Game Questions – Is the pathfinder trophy for Unravel glitched?

Submitted by Anonymous Is the pathfinder trophy for Unravel glitched?

Simple question, so the simple answer is no, the pathfinder trophy in Unravel is not glitched. If you think you’ve completed all the levels without dying, I would suggest going back and looking at each level picture again. If you did complete the level without dying then you’ll have a gold patch on the right hand corner of each picture that you did. If one of the pictures does not have this little gold patch then you didn’t complete the level without dying. Go back and complete that level, or levels, and you’ll finally get your trophy.

I’m pretty sure that in order to do this as well, you have to play the level straight through without dying. I don’t think you can be in a situation where you think you’re going to die and then restart before dying and it will count. When I got this trophy myself, I made sure to play each level from start to finish without dying and without manually restarting at the nearest checkpoint.

Unravel Review (PS4)

Like a lot of people, I fell absolutely head over heels in love with this game when it was first announced at E3. The story that was behind the making of it and how passionate the people who created it were was one of the things that made me so in love with this game. Then there was the small story that was told behind it and I was caught hook, line, and sinker. I had to have this game and I had to have the experience that was Unravel. I have to admit that after playing Firewatch, I was a little weary of this game but decide to give it a try anyway. Keep reading to find out what I thought about it.

In Unravel, you’ll play as Yarny, a cute little yarn figure, similar to Sackboy but less comical and more lovable. Yarny is curious about everything that surrounds him with a genuine curiosity, almost like a child, and his one goal is to collect memories. Each level in Unravel is a different memory and it basically shows the progression of a now old woman. You visit each memory through the different pictures around the house and while most of the memories are good, there are some that aren’t so good, such is life though. As you play Yarny he unravels little by little with each memory, which I like to think represents the piece inside of you that stays with every memory that you keep. While the game initially ends on a very bitter sweet note, it’s then turned into something uplifting and leaves the player with a sense of completion and maybe something more.

Kudos: It’s been a while since I was so emotionally attached to a game. I felt like I was living through each of this old woman’s memories and experiencing the ups and downs of her life as you explored as Yarny. The picture around the house was something that hit home for me as it reminded me of my late grandmother who had a similar collection of photos around her apartment. It was something that I hadn’t thought about in a while and Unravel reminded me of that collection. I became so emotionally attached to the game that I sobbed like a baby at the end of the game. This game just hit home in so many ways that I can’t see how someone wouldn’t be able to in some way relate to this game.

Needless to say, I couldn’t stop playing this game. I’m not really one that’s into puzzle platformer’s, but the story of this game and the meaning behind it just drew me in and I couldn’t stop playing. I was eager to see how each memory progressed and how each memory differed from the other. I felt like in a way this game was very similar to Journey, but also different and it wasn’t a bad thing. I think that Unravel kind of expands on Journey in a way concentrating on one’s memories throughout life. There was nothing that I didn’t like about this game, even when I died, which will happen a lot, I was still eager to pick back up where I left off and finish the memory.

I will say that this game takes a little while to get used to with all of the swinging and learning what to do with your excess yarn and trying to solve each puzzle in the memories, but once you get the hang of it the game is super simple. Each memory had a natural flow to it with the way that they progressed, and this game was perfect at release and I’m talking about a game with no bugs or game breaking glitches. A very rare and welcomed occurrence which only made playing this game more enjoyable.

The graphics for this game were absolutely stunning and filled with detail. Each memory was so clearly depicted in the game that it made it feel like you were actually in that memory with Yarny as he explored. For something that wasn’t considered a AAA game, it definitely had the graphics of it and they just blew me away. Sometimes you find a game where you think, “how can graphics get any better than this” and this is one of those games.

I’m only going to say this once. Do not play this game for the trophies Are the 26 trophies that come with this game easy to get? Yes, but you shouldn’t be playing this game for the trophies. This game is so much more than just trophies and it’s like the trophies are a bonus to having the experience you’ll have when playing Unravel. While the trophies are easy, it is a little tricky to collect all of the secrets and not die while playing each memory. Once you get used to the memory and know what to expect though, you’ll be able to easily walk through each memory without dying.

This is one of those games where you are the one that has to experience it alone and does not need a multiplayer experience to make this game more playable.

Overall I give this game a 5 out of 5.

What’s Great:
+ This game will make you feel things…seriously it will. Don’t be surprised if you’re sobbing like a baby by the end of the game.
+ A beautiful and touching story that just about anyone can relate to.
+ Bonus points because Yarny is adorable! He’s genuine and curious and makes exploring each memory fun and exciting. Not only do you learn as you play, but Yarny does as well.
+ No bugs or glitches making this a carefree game that you can go into not having to worry.
+ Absolutely stunning and beautiful graphics.

What’s Not So Great:
Controls take a little while to get used to, but once you do it’ll be easy and your gameplay will be carefree.

I’m giving this game a strong recommendation for just about anyone to pick up right now and go play. It’s one of those games that you want to have the experience of playing, even if you don’t get all the trophies for the game. I can’t stress enough how this game will make you feel things and just about anyone can relate to it. Besides who can say no to the cuteness that is Yarny? This $19.99 buy is worth every single penny and you won’t regret adding this game to your collection.

This Week in Trophies 03-06-2016 – 03-12-2016

This week wasn’t as productive trophy wise as I wanted it to be, but I did manage to finish Unravel and get the platinum trophy so that has to count for something. A pretty busy week turned into a week where I wasn’t able to play as much as I wanted to, but it happens. Anyway, here’s a breakdown of how I did for the week.

Unravel – 100%

I was finally able to get the platinum trophy for this game this week. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be and I had a really great time playing the game. I’ll have my full review of the game posted in a few weeks.

Unravel UnravelUnravel UnravelUnravel Unravel

Surge Deluxe – 33%

I played this game a while ago but hooked it up again this week while I was watching some TV. I was able to add to my trophy collection by getting one trophy, but at least it was something. This is a pretty cool game, but it’s just not something I can play all the time.

The Four Kings Casino and Slots – 19%

I got one whole trophy for this game this week and I am seriously regretting adding this game to my system and my trophy list. I know being competitive is a bad thing and it would sooner or later bite me in the ass and it has. I’m hoping I can finish up this trophy list sometime in the near future, but I’m not expecting it any time soon.

Four Kings Casino and Slots

Gauntlet – 12%

I felt like playing Diablo this week, but without any available space on my hard drive, I decided to give Gauntlet a try. While it isn’t exactly Diablo, it’s similar and so far I’m enjoying it. Will I get the platinum? I have no idea but I’m going to try my hardest to do so. I also really have no complaints about this game. The servers are still really active and if anyone is looking for a Gauntlet partner, let me know in the comments section below.

And that was it for this week. I’m happy that I finished Unravel and added that platinum to my trophy profile. I’m also extremely happy I played that game and you’ll see why when I post my review. For next week, I seriously have no plans at all because I’m facing another crazy schedule week. If I do get any gaming time in, it will probably be for Gauntlet and maybe some Mad Max. I’ll let you know how things turned out for me next week.

This Week in Trophies 02-28-2016 – 03-05-2016

After last week’s surge of trophies, I thought this week would pretty much be the same, but damn was I completely wrong. Life mostly got in the way this week and I wasn’t able to get that much done, but I was able to get a new platinum trophy so that has to count for something. Anyway, here’s a breakdown of my trophies for the week.

Taco Master – 100%

That’s right, platinum trophy # 52 came this week from Taco Master for the PS Vita. It was the first PS Vita game that I played in a while and over the past week I got some pretty good use out of that system. I’ll have my full review of the game up in a few weeks to let you know what I thought of it.

Mad Max – 28%

I am still slowly making my way through this game. Most of this is my fault because I really just can’t get into the game and it’s like I’m forcing myself to play. I just arrived in Pink Eye’s territory and I’m doing a few random missions here and there, but to me this game has just been one big scavenger hunt without any real substance. I’m still waiting for that WOW factor in the story.

Mad Max

Sparkle Unleashed – 52%

I finished the main quest for the first time on Normal and am now making my way through Hard difficulty before going on to Nightmare difficulty and then eventually going through the survival mode. Compared to the other Sparkle game that I played, I think that 10tons changed a little too much this time around and even though it’s a Sparkle game, it really isn’t the same. When I finish the game I’ll let you know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

Sparkle Unleashed

Unravel – 73%

As frustrating as it is at times to go back and get through a level without dying, I’m still having a good time playing this game. I enjoy the different environments, I enjoy the overall story and message the game is delivering, and I enjoy playing as little Yarny.

Unravel

So there you have it, all of my trophies for this week. Certinally nothing to brag about, but at least I did complete a game and get the platinum trophy doing so. That has to count for something. Hopefully life is less crazy this week and I can get back to some major gaming during my free time, but you never know. The only thing I would really like to accomplish this week is finishing up Unravel and getting the platinum trophy for it. Other than that I’m going to just go with the flow. I’ll let you know how things turned out next week.

This Week in Trophies 02-21-2016 – 02-27-2016

This was definitely one of my better trophy weeks for the month. I don’t really know where I found the time to play, but I did somehow and it paid off. As the final full week of the month, I made some much needed progress on a bunch of games. So, here’s a breakdown of the trophies I got this week.

Unravel – 70%

I thought it was going to be a lot harder to actually go back and redo all of the levels, but it turned out to be not so hard. Not dying on each level takes a little work, but once you get into the groove of that level it becomes pretty simple. Even though I didn’t get the platinum for this game this week, it won’t be long before I actually do.

Unravel UnravelUnravel

Star Wars Battlefront – 28%

I’m still having a really fun time playing this game. I think that one trophy did glitch on me though which sucks because multiple times I won on Blast and had the most kills, but no trophy. This is a little frustrating, but I’ll give it a couple of more tries just to see. Other than that I’m enjoying both the multiplayer and mission sides of the game. I’m also still looking for some people to play with so if anyone wants to join me just leave a comment in the comments section.

Taco Master – 69%

I bought this game as an impulse buy this week because it was on sale for $1.49. There’s a silly little story that goes along with it but it’s mostly a time management game. I like those types of games and I’m having a good time playing it while I have some TV on in the background. I should actually be getting the platinum trophy for this game pretty soon and I’m looking forward to it.

Mad Max – 26%

I was able to pick back up where I left off with this game this week and even got a couple of trophies doing so. I’m still doing way too much free roaming to say if I actually like the story yet or not, but I’m not giving up on this game yet and will continue to play when I have a chance to.

Mad Max Mad MaxMad Max

The Walking Dead: Michonne – 33%

I should call this another impulse buy, but unfortunately it wasn’t. I was actually looking forward to this game, but was disappointed. I’ll have my full review of the first episode up soon so you can read all about my latest disappointment with Telltale. If you’re thinking about getting this game I would say hold off for a sale, based on the first episode I didn’t find it worth the $14.99

The Walking Dead: Michonne The Walking Dead: MichonneThe Walking Dead: Michonne The Walking Dead: MichonneThe Walking Dead: Michonne The Walking Dead: MichonneThe Walking Dead: Michonne

The Four Kings Casino and Slots – 14%

I don’t know why I downloaded this game, well I do, because no matter how hard I try not to be I’m super competitive and I don’t like being told that I can’t do something. Anyway, this game for me is one of those anything you can do I can do better type things. I’m going to say that it’s ok for this one since it was free, but I’m seriously regretting it now that I actually have to get all these trophies and put some extra time into this game. It was my own fault so I’ll suffer through it.

Four Kings Casino and Slots Four Kings Casino and SlotsFour Kings Casino and Slots

And that was it this week for me. A much better week this time around with a total of…drum roll please…43 trophies. A nice way to end a rather lack luster month. Now for next week…I have no idea what’s going to happen because my schedule has changed once more. Of course it did once I found my groove, but I’ll roll with the punches and see how things go. I do want to try to get some PS3 time in though since it seems like I haven’t turned on that system for a while now. I’ll let you know next week how things went.

Weekly Trophy Tip – Unravel – Pathfinder

This is one of those trophies that it’s not that difficult to get, once you know what you’re doing. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll probably die a bunch of times trying to get it, but once you get a rhythm going you’ll be just fine. Here are a couple of things you need to know about getting this trophy.

Unravel – Pathfinder
Make it to the water wheel without using a log raft – Gold
TIP: During chapter 5 (Off The Rails) of Unravel, you’ll come across a large area of water that needs to be crossed. You can easily do this by using a log raft in order to make your way safely through this area. If you do that you won’t be able to get the trophy so what good is that? In order to get the trophy you’ll have to swing and jump your way across the area, but not to worry there are plenty of places for you to latch on and tie yourself to in order to save yourself from dying. It might take a couple of tries but you’ll eventually get it and it will be well worth it with that shiny new gold trophy added to your gamer card.

Have anything additional to add to my tip? Let me know in the comments section below and I’ll add it in and give you credit. Need help with a specific trophy? I’m always looking for my next weeks tip so throw out some suggestions in the comments section. If I have the trophy I’ll post a tip on how to get it.

This Week in Trophies 02-14-2016 – 02-20-2016

Another week of a bunch of mixed up trophies from a bunch of different random games. My now crazy weekly schedule gives me a hell of a lot of less time to game which means I think those weeks of 50+ trophies might be over. I could be wrong, but you never know. Anyway here is how my week played out.

Star Wars Battlefront – 18%

I’m still having a bunch of fun playing this game whenever I have enough time to actually sit down and get a decent amount of game time in. I know I’m usually all about the story when it comes to games, but this one really doesn’t have one and is just a multiplayer game and at the moment I’m not caring. If anyone is looking to partner up and play, let me know in the comments section below. Or if you don’t want your PSN ID public, send me a DM on Twitter. I would say that I’m a pretty decent player, but I would expect too much out of me since one game I can be on top of the leaderboards for that game and then by the next I totally suck.

Unravel – 55%

I finished the main story this week, and what a beautiful story it was, and now I just have to go back and cleanup some of the trophies. I know I’m probably going to put my foot in my mouth by saying it isn’t going to be too hard, but you never know. I might have this one done before the end of the month and I might not.

Sparkle Unleashed – 42%

Ah Sparkle Unleashed, my little game that I get to play when I only have half an hour to spare. I think that sometimes you need games like this because when I can’t game, it absolutely drives me crazy. It’s nice to have something to play knowing that I don’t have to spend a bunch of time on it and I can still feel like I’m getting somewhere.

Sparkle Unleashed Sparkle Unleashed

And that was it for this week. It wasn’t a good week and it wasn’t a bad one either. As it was last week, I really don’t have any plans for this week when it comes to certain games at all. I will play when I get the chance and I’ll probably play some random game depending on the time I have as well as how I’m feeling. I’ll let you know how things turned out for me next week.

This Week in Trophies 02-07-02-13-2016

I went a little crazy with the games this week. I jumped from game to game which is seriously unlike me, but the two days that I had to actually game just made my mind go crazy and I just wanted to play anything and everything. I’m hoping that this pattern doesn’t continue because I’ll never get anything done goal wise, but you never know. Anyway, here’s all of my trophies for the week.

Mad Max – 21%

I’m trying really really hard to get into the story of this game, but I think part of the problem is that I spend most of my time playing just wandering around collecting scrap and trying to clear each and every area in the game to lower the threat rating in each area. I’m still playing this game when I have more than a few hours to spare since you need it when it comes to this game, but the trophies are coming in slowly.

Mad Max

Sparkle Unleashed – 28%

I continued to play this sporadically this week when I had a few extra minutes here and there. I’m still not really sure what to think about this game yet. Like the other Sparkle games, it has a small story that goes with it, but I’m not sure if I’m liking the difference in gameplay just yet. I’ll continue to play the whole way through with an open mind before making my final decision.

Sparkle Unleashed Sparkle UnleashedSparkle Unleashed

Firewatch – 100%

I was extremely excited about this game when I first seen it at E3 so I grabbed it day one. I’m not going to say anything about it here, so you’ll have to wait for my review, which is coming up, to see what I actually thought about the game as a whole.

Firewatch FirewatchFirewatch FirewatchFirewatch

Star Wars Battlefront – 7%

So, I’m not even a Star Wars fan…or a multiplayer fan, but there was just something about this game that I had to have it. I am absolutely loving this game. There isn’t really a section of this game so far that I’m not liking. I know I probably won’t get the platinum for this game, but it’s not going to stop me from trying.

Star Wars Battlefront Star Wars BattlefrontStar Wars Battlefront Star Wars Battlefront

Unravel – 2%

Another game that I first took notice of at E3 and had to have day one. Even though I only got through two levels, I have to say that this game is absolutely beautiful. Not only graphic wise but story wise as well. I am loving this game along with its tough puzzles and super cute main character. I can’t wait to continue playing.

Unravel Unravel

And that was it for my random week of games and random trophies. I know the whole thing was crazy, but it is what it is. For the first time in weeks…maybe months, I really don’t have a plan when it comes to what games I’m playing. This week I’m just going to see how things go and go from there. I’ll let you know how things go next week.
