Gaming Goals for the New Year – November 2017 – UPDATE

As this year is quickly coming to a close, I find myself rushing to try and finish up as many games as possible and trying to accomplish at least some of the goals that I had set for myself at the beginning of the year. It’s kind of like the standard, oh I’m going to lose X amount of weight this year only to find out that you’ve gained weight and now you’re rushing to get those pounds off before the last day of the year so that you can set another goal next year to lose more weight. Anyway, that’s where I find myself this month, so let’s take a look and see how close I am to completing some of these goals.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 81
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 84
Three new platinum trophies this month, count them three. Hitting the 90 before the year is up is going to be really hard though because the games that I have aren’t the easiest and I’ll be lucky if I can hit 85. The good thing is though that if I do hit 85, I’ll be pretty damn pleased with myself as I not only inch my way closer to my goal, but also inch my way closer to triple digit platinum trophy numbers.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,931
– Ending # of Trophies: 8,022
I hit my 8,000th trophy this month! It felt amazing doing it especially because I did it with my buddy mmaddmax12. Follow him on twitch here because he’s super cool. I went a little past the 8000 mark, but getting up to 8,500 trophies by the end of the year is going to be a little crazy, that would mean I would have to get at least over 350 trophies next month. If I want to be exact it would be 478 trophies. It could happen but it probably won’t.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 124
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 127
Three more games finished this month and I’m finally realizing that the 150 is going to be a problem. 23 games is a lot of games to finish before the end of the year and I’ll be lucky if I hit the 130 mark. This is a bit of a letdown for me because I really thought I would be able to accomplish this goal.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 54.41%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.56%
Everyone knows that this is one of those goals that’s going to stay on my list until I actually complete it. I will say that while I won’t do it this year, I’ll be happy if I can at least hit the 55% mark this year. I’m close to doing it and if I go back next month and play some older games instead of starting new ones that it’s very probable that I can do it.

I’m having the same problem I had last month. I start up my PS3 with the intention of playing something that I’ve blogged about playing and then all of a sudden, I go to my game booklet and pull out Mass Effect 3. It’s like I’m not even thinking about it…it just happens. I have to try and solve this problem somehow, I’m just not sure how.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 7
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 8
This number went up again this month. Not up to the 20 that I had originally wanted, but just another tick up to 8 as I completed Wolfenstein: The New Order. Seeing as how I’ve been playing a bunch of new games that I pre-ordered, I don’t think even 10 is going to happen. Not bad though because I did get 8 games off of my backlog list this year, while adding a bunch more in this never ending cycle.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – FAILED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 9
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 11
I not only pre-ordered one game this month, but two. After my internal debate on what to pre-order because I was only going to pre-order one, I said the hell with it and pre-ordered both Star Wars Battlefront II and The Sims 4. I’m under 15 though! Bonus points? Maybe? Next year I either have to stick to the 5 pre-orders or just up the number a little bit. We’ll have to see.

That was my month in gaming. It wasn’t a bad one as I inched my way closer to certain goals. So it looks like everything is going to get the big fail stamp this year and while I’m not OK with that, in a way I am. I’ve come a long way this year and the year’s not even over so I still have one more month to try and get those goals. I’ll be updating you with my final tally in the new year.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – October 2017 – UPDATE

This month was actually a pretty good month for me. As many of you know I started streaming on Twitch. [Insert plea to follow me on Twitch here]. This had kind of kept me on schedule with playing games, but not making it a job like type of thing which is good. What it’s doing is actually helping me accomplish a lot of my goals. Anyway, on with how my month played out.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 80
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 81
I was able to get at least one platinum trophy this month even though I wanted to get more it just didn’t happen. The one thing I was really happy about though was that it was for a horror game, Until Dawn. This is good because as you know I’m not a fan of the whole horror game genre and this kind of broke me out of that phase. Anyway, maybe I can move onto games that are a little scarier and work my way up to The Evil Within. I’m still pretty happy with this number and I think by the end of the year I can at least hit 90.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,807
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,931
Finally! A month where I went way past that 100 mark and really had a strong month of trophies. This was great for me and gives me some kind of hope that maybe, just maybe before the end of the year I can reach that 8,500 mark. If I do or even get close, next year’s goal is going to be insane. I’m talking double digit insane.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 123
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 124
I’m telling you I had a really great month because even this number went up. I think if a lot of the episode based games that I’m playing finish up by the end of the year and I continue finishing games as fast as I possibly can, then 150 is not going to be a problem.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.88%
– Ending Completion Rate: 54.41%
This number totally went up this month! Score one for me! I might even hit 55% before the year is out. I am trying as hard as possible to hit the 75% and this will be my goal until I actually accomplish it. I know it’s far fetched, but stranger things have happened.

So, I started my PS3 with the intention of playing one of the games on my I Never Finished…Because list and actually finishing it, but Mass Effect 3 was sitting there and thinking about the multiplayer was oh so tempting because I’m so so close to gaining a huge jump in the leader board that I hooked that up and started playing again. Ugh! I’ll get to this goal some day.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 6
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 7
This number ticked up this month as I bought Until Dawn years ago and completed it. Unfortunately, I did not get that one for free. Anyway, if you’ve been watching my streams then you also know that I’ve been playing Wolfenstein: The New Order, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to complete it this month. Maybe next month and I’m OK with that.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – FAILED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 9
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 9
No pre-orders this month as I reconsider pre-ordering Star Wars: Battlefront II and see if I should pre-order The Sims 4 or wait. Hard decisions. I’m not quite sure about any of it yet, because lately Best Buy has just sucked and has not delivered on their “you’ll have the game on release day” promise. This really pisses me off and makes me reconsider pre-ordering anything.

That was it for this month. Not bad considering that I have two more months to accomplish any of these goals. Maybe just one of them would be nice. If not, at least I made some progress, but I am seriously going to work my ass off to try and get at least one of these goals accomplished before the end of the year. I’ll let you know how everything turned out next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – September 2017 – UPDATE

I swear it feels like yesterday that I posted and update for August and here I am posting an update for September. Next thing you know, I’ll be posting my final update for December and creating all new goals for next year. Anyway, on with my goals and how I did for September.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 79
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 80
At least I was able to get one platinum trophy this month and it was a milestone one with number 80. This was because of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. I enjoyed this game so much that I just had to go back and play multiple time resulting in platinum trophy number 80. I was working on another platinum, but wow is the Shoppe Keep platinum taking a hell of a long time which is probably why no one has it as of yet.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,711
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,807
Missed that 100 mark again by 4 trophies! Ugh! That is simply just annoying as hell because I was so damn close this time around. I know that 8,500 is far off because the end of the year is right around the corner, but I’ll be happy if I could at least hit 8,000.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 120
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 123
This number went up by three this month and it was because I was able to complete three whole games. That was no easy feat especially with the amount of time I actually had for gaming. Anyway, at the moment 150 is looking farfetched so I’m going to say that if I at least hit 130-140 I’ll be happy.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.57%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.88%
So I kind of have a love / hate relationship when it comes to this number. After a month of this number dropping drastically, it’s back on the rise again. It’s not where it was a couple of months ago, but I feel like it’s kind of getting there. If I can hit 55% by the end of the year, which I know seems impossible, I’ll be pretty happy.

Complete 10 RANDOM games featured in my I Never Finished…Because…blog

Surprise because this number is still at 0. I think it’s going to stay that way no matter how hard I try and it kind of sucks. Anyway, I’m going to have to come up with a better goal next year to get some of these games completed and off of my system. Right now I’m going to say if I can complete one game I’ll be happy.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 6
I totally forgot that I had the Hasbro Family Fun Pack: Conquest Edition and there was still a game on there that I didn’t play. I bought this game about a year ago and finally got around to playing Monopoly Plus recently. This was an easy 100% that took me less than 2 hours and it also helped me accomplish a little more of my goal. I probably won’t hit 20 this year since there are a bunch of new games coming out soon, but if I hit 10 I’ll be happy.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – FAILED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 8
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 9
Another month, another pre-order and I just couldn’t help myself as I pre-ordered South Park: The Fractured But Whole. I’ve been waiting for this game for a while and knew that I had to have it day one so I put in my pre-order. Still under 15, so I guess it’s kind of a win…

That was it for the month and I’m sure if there wasn’t some stuff I can’t control like Hurricanes and random shit at work that I would have been able to at least get closer to my goals. I’m not saying that I would have accomplished any of them this month, but it kind of seems like the odds weren’t in my favor this month as I tried my hardest to play as much as possible and it just didn’t happen. Anyway, I’ll continue to work on these goals and let you know how I did next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – August 2017 – UPDATE

Another month has just flown on by and even though my trophy count was down, I can tell you that right now, I still played a bunch of different games. My goals though are seeming a little less achievable as December is right around the corner and I already failed one goal. With so many new games coming out I just wasn’t able to keep my goal of only pre-ordering 5 games this year. Anyway, let’s take a look and see how my month went.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 79
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 79
There were no new platinum trophies for this month as I was trying to get the Fallout 4 platinum to make it my milestone platinum trophy. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as I got side tracked by a lot of other games and playing Fallout takes a hell of a lot of time. Anyway, even though it won’t be Fallout, a platinum trophy or two should be just around the corner so I’m not that upset about it.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,627
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,711
There were so many games played this month and I still couldn’t get 100 trophies. I was only able to get a sad 84 trophies this month even though I tried so hard. Ugh, this number has me struggling as I’ll never reach 8,500 by the end of the year now. I’m going to say though that if I can reach at least 8,000 I’ll be happy. Kind of.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 120
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 120
This number stayed the same this month as I didn’t finish anything. I’m guessing that this will jump up though and I should reach 150 by the end of the year. I know that’s like 30 games away but I’m optimistic. With all of the Telltale games that I play along with some other simple games that don’t require much I don’t see why I can’t reach this number.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.96%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.57%
Remember how I said I played a bunch of new games this month? Yeah, that also means that my completion rating took a major hit as it dropped. This was expected to happen, especially this month, and 75% is totally unreachable this year. If I can get this number up to 55% by the end of the year I’ll be happy.

Complete 10 RANDOM games featured in my I Never Finished…Because…blog

– Starting Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
– Ending Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
This number is still at 0, but there is a catch, I actually did start playing one of my I Never Finished…Because games again and it was Sideway: New York. I know, I couldn’t believe it myself, but with my PS4 being occupied at times as I edit video’s I need something to do and turning on my PS3 and playing an older game seemed like the perfect idea. Maybe by next month I’ll have the game completed.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
The only game I played in my backlog this month was Fallout 4. There was no way that this was going to get completed with the amount of other games that I played so this number stays the same. If I can at least hit 10 games by the end of the year I’ll be happy because at least it’s 10 games that are out of my growing backlog.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – FAILED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 6
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 8
Yep, this number ticked up again this month as PlayStation is really getting me with the pre-orders because of discounts. I picked up Batman: The Enemy Within at a discounted price on pre-order and The Last Day of June. Right now I have no idea how many more games I’ll be pre-ordering, but I want to try to keep it under 15 at least.

And that was my month. Not that exciting at all and it makes me feel like too much of an adult at times. Anyway, depending on how things at work are in September, there might be some changes coming which are going to suck for me, I might have more time to game. I won’t have the money to game, which might help with the whole pre-order thing but at least it’ll help me clear up my backlog. I’ll let you know how things go next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – July 2017 – UPDATE

I really don’t know why at the end of the month when I write these blogs that I’m always so shocked. I always find myself thinking, “wow is it the end of the month already?” Then I groan because it turns out that I’m a grown up and can’t spend my time playing video games all the time and that these goals that I set are never going to get accomplished no matter how hard I try. Anyway, that doesn’t stop me from trying so let’s take a look at my progress for the month.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 77
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 79
Thanks to some cheap and easy sale game this month I was able to add the Puzzle Showdown 4K platinum to my collection as well as Lara Croft GO. Even though I’m one trophy away from 80, I’m not sure if I’m going to make the 100 this year. I might, you never know, but that’s looking like it’s not going to happen. As long as I hit 80 and go a little over…maybe even hit 90, I won’t be too upset about that.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,531
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,627
I still couldn’t even hit 100 trophies this past month. Yet another disappointment. Even though a lot of games were on sale and I got some quick and easy trophies it really didn’t help all that much. I’m less than 1,000 trophies away from my goal, but there would have to be some kind of gaming miracle at this point for me to get 1,000 trophies by the end of the year.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 117
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 120
This number jumped up by 3 this month, which wasn’t bad. Thanks again to those games that I bought on sale. It would have been one more to make 121, but Horizon Zero Dawn added some DLC with New Game + and a new Difficulty that I didn’t feel like jumping in and playing at so there went my 100% on that game. Anyway, another 30 games and I should hit my goal. I’m still pretty confident that I can do this.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.70%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.96%
Look at this number climb this past month! Look at it, look at it. I’m saying that because it’s going to plummet next month when I start just about 7 new games that I might or might not be able to finish. I can’t believe that there are 7 games coming out next month that I’ll be playing. Three of them are episode based, so they’ll get completed eventually, but the other 4 are non-episodic games and those are always fickle so we’ll see how low this number goes.

Complete 10 RANDOM games featured in my I Never Finished…Because…blog

– Starting Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0

This is still at zero because for some reason I can’t bring myself to turn on my PS3. I have no idea why, I even considered purchasing the year subscription to PS Now just to play some PS3 games that I actually still own. I couldn’t justify doing that either because even though $99 or the year is a good price, I already own these games and a PS3. I should just play them on there. Right? I don’t know anymore.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
– Ending Number of completed games in my backlog: 5
While I did play games in my backlog this month, I didn’t finish any of them. I did finish new games though, which don’t count towards this goal. I’m in a no win situation here so I’ll continue to try and finish some backlogged games, but the rest of the year is super busy with new games that I’m not sure if I can do it.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales. – FAILED!

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 4
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 6
So I completely failed this goal this year. Yes, I’m already up to 6 pre-orders since I pre-ordered Sonic Mania and I pre-ordered The Long Dark just last night in order to get it at a discount. By this point I’m kinda like screw it. I already blew this goal to hell so why not keep going. There are a bunch of games that I want to get and I might as well just get them.

That was it for the month. A decent month I want to say even though it really wasn’t. I mean I made progress on a lot of my goals, and even failed one, but knowing that I’ll probably not make the rest of them by the end of the year is kind of a downer. Anyway, I’ll always keep trying and I’ll let you know how things go next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – June 2017 – UPDATE!

Is it really July already? I really can’t believe that half the month is already gone and that the start of the last six months of the year have begun. It’s all downhill from here as the rest of the year is going to just fly by. Anyway, while I did have my ups and downs when it came to gaming this past month, let’s take a look and see how I did overall when it comes to my goals.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 75
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 77
This number went up by two this month as I got the platinum trophy for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier and Super Exploding Zoo. Not bad after having no progress in this goal for a couple of months, but I’m still a long way off from my 100 goal. I really want to reach 100 platinum trophies, but I’m just struggling a little to get there. I don’t want to play easy games either just for the platinum so we’ll see how this one goes.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,435
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,531
Just four trophies shy of hitting 100 for this month, but I feel like I did make some progress. I also hit my milestone trophy of 7,500. This is seriously hard to believe because I remember hitting my first milestone trophy which was number 500 just about six years ago and I can’t believe how different things were then from how they are now. It’s amazing really, but moving on I’m feeling optimistic about this goal and I think that with 969 trophies to go to meet this goal that I can do it.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 113
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 117
This number had a pretty big jump as I completed 4 games to 100%. The 150 is looking doable right now, but there’s kind of a catch. I think I have to go back and complete some games that I’ve been holding off on order to do this. This is going to be a struggle because I really do like new games, and I like starting new games. There might be a few though that I’m only missing a few trophies so it’ll be easy to go back to, but we’ll see.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.64%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.70%
At least this number went back up this month. It’s not back up to where it was a couple of months ago, but it’s slowly getting there. This fickle fickle number is just a plain pain in the ass in order to work on and like the other goal I’ll have to go back and finish some games in order for this number to go up.

Complete 10 RANDOM games featured in my I Never Finished…Because…blog

– Starting Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
– Ending Number of Games Played from I Never Finished…Because: 0
At this point I’m going to be happy if I can complete 2 random games from my I Never Finished…Because blog. A lot of them are hard games that will require a lot of hours, but there are those couple that will require maybe one or two more playthroughs in order to get them. I’ll try to work on this goal in July, but no promises.

Play and complete 20 RANDOM games in my backlog.

– Starting Number of completed games in my backlog: 3
– Ending Number of completed games in my backog: 5
This number also went up this past month as I completed Super Exploding Zoo and MouseCraft which were both in my backlog and both placed in my backlog way before my deadline of 12/31/2016. At this point I’ll be pretty happy if I can get half way there at the 10 games point.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 4
This number doubled this month and I’m really close to hitting my goal of 5 games. There’s a problem though because there are at least two other games that I want to pre-order. Of course I want to pre-order South Park: The Fractured But Whole, but I also want to pre-order Star Wars Battlefront II. Then there’s also Sonic Mania. I’m stuck because while pre-ordering Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was expected. I didn’t expect to pre-order Life is Strange: Before the Storm which is what I did right after it was announced at E3. Yes, I know someone else is voicing Chloe because of the whole Voice Actor strike thing is still going on, but I really could care less at this point because it’s another Life is Strange game and we get to see Chloe before she was the Chloe everyone knows. Anyway, this isn’t a discussion for here. I plan to make my decision on what will be my last pre-order sometime this month.

And that was it for the month of June. Not too bad if you ask me. As always I’ll be continuing to work on my goals in July and hopefully getting a little closer to meeting each of them now that I’m basically on a deadline. I feel like I had half the year to fool around and get things done slowly but if I want to reach my goals I really have to pick up the pace and get them done. I’ll let you know how things worked out next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – May 2017 – UPDATE

I don’t even know what happened for May because I was just so busy that I barely got time to get any gaming done. This is totally unlike me and it was just a tad bit disappointing for various different reasons. Work was busy, life was busy, and gaming definitely took a back seat to all of that. Anyway, I did make some progress, not enough to count, but let’s take a look at what I was able to do.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 75
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 75
This number stayed right where it’s been for the last two months. I know I can get platinum trophies, you know I can get platinum trophies, but I just haven’t had the time to play a game fully enough and long enough to get what it takes for an actual platinum. The current games that I’m playing are far from easy platinum’s so they’re taking a bit longer especially with my almost non-existing gaming schedule.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,396
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,435
This number is seriously disappointing this month and if I keep going like this I could say goodbye to this goal and just set the 8,500 total trophies for next year. I don’t even know what to say about this at this point other than I just didn’t have the time and it showed. Gaming takes time and right now I’m wishing that I had more time to game.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 113
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 113
Although I started some games this month, I didn’t finish them and didn’t even get close to finishing them to even get this number anywhere. A really sad month. Some games even got DLC added to them so that means more trophies to get with little to no time to get them.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.84%

This stupid number went down this month by 0.20% and I just hate it. I started some games this month but didn’t get any where close to finishing them and it took my progress right away from me. I was also stupid enough to start a game right at the end of the month which in my mind I knew wouldn’t work right, but it was just one of those times when I wanted to just start a new game. Another loss for the month…sigh….

I don’t even want to talk about this goal because I haven’t turned on my PS3 in a long long time. Most of the games I blogged about were on the PS3 and in order to finish them I would actually have to take the time and turn on my PS3 which at the moment seems like it’s not going to happen.

Just because I started some games in my backlog, doesn’t mean that I finished them to 100% or got the platinum trophy for them. There are a lot of games to get through and once again there’s no time to get to all of them. I’m still even installing games on my PS4 which is taking way longer than expected because I just don’t have the time to do that either.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 2
I didn’t pre-order anything this month because my budget just didn’t call for it. I know it’s not like I have to pay for it now, but I also have to be a responsible adult and I really wanted to have a good time at MegaCon so I put off ordering the new Uncharted game along with the new South Park game for now. Once everything is in order again I’ll be pre-ordering some games that I was looking forward to. Hopefully that means I won’t be going over this goal because there are a lot of games that I would like to pre-order at the moment.

If I’m going to be honest, which I always try to be, then this month just seriously sucked. Progress was made in some places, but no where that actually counted. With MegaCon long gone until next year and TV basically coming to a halt for the summer, I’m hoping that I can get some more gaming done and actually make some progress on these goals. Crossing my fingers for June that I’ll have some kind of exciting news to tell you on my update.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – April 2017 – UPDATE

I really felt unproductive last month as I really didn’t accomplish much. It’s the middle of the years blues I’m afraid as there’s so much going on that I really have little to no time to game. This makes me feel really old and I hate it. Anyway, enough about that and onto the my overzealous goals for the year!

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 75
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 75
So yeah, no platinum trophies this month. It happens sometimes. I did think I was going to be able to get an easy platinum with Color Guardians, but damn that game is hard. I mean really hard like this game is kicking my ass no matter what I do and I’m not all that happy with it at the moment. Even in the other games that I’m playing, I’m no where close to the platinum which kind of sucks because that 100 is looking super far away now.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,319
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,396
Ugh, I don’t even want to look at this number right now. Make it go away because I couldn’t even get 100 trophies this month. What the hell right? A cringe worthy month on this front as well and I’m really hoping that I can amp things up and get this number up next month. We’ll see though because I’ll have a four day break of gaming when I go to MegaCon at the end of the month.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 112
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 113
Yay! This number went up by one this month because I completed Doki-Doki Universe. 150 still isn’t that far away, but I know that some of the big games that I’m playing are going to have DLC that might not get finished right away making this number go up and then go down, but we’ll have to see how it goes. I’m still pretty positive I can reach 150.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.61%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.84%
Another win this month as this number continues to slowly tick up over time. The more I play games and actually complete them as well as go back to games that I’ve played before and complete them the higher this number will go. 75% is still the goal and it might not be this year or next year that I achieve it, but it’ll be sooner or later.

I swear this was the hardest goal that I added to this list. Why did I even add it to the list! I’m never going to go back to these games as much as I want to because I have no time. Yes I could make time and go back to them, but then that means that I skip on playing new games. Have I mentioned how hard this goal is?

This number went up because I finished Doki-Doki universe which was sitting on my system for the longest time not being played. It was well before my backlog deadline of 12/31/2016. Yay for me for getting another game off of my backlog and clearing it up just a little. Not much, but every little bit counts. Only 17 more games to go and I’m pretty sure I can do it.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2
– Ending Number of Pre-Orders: 2
Another month with no pre-orders because I’m on the fence about a lot of things. I really want to pre-order Uncharted: Lost Legacy but I’m not sure if I’m willing to pay $40.00 for it. Isn’t it supposed to be a DLC or is it now a full on expansion? I don’t know and the developers really aren’t clear about it. I’ll probably end up pre-ordering it which sets me back a little and might actually end up making me go over this goal which does not make me a happy gamer.

So that was my month. Uneventful in the gaming world that I live in, but eventful in other ways. I’m hoping this month will be different as I have no actual new games to play but just old games that are sitting around and hoping that I choose them. Not to mention I do have that four day break from gaming which could hurt unless I get my numbers up before then. I’ll let you know how things worked out for me next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – March 2017 – UPDATE

When looking back on this past month, there was really nothing typical about it. Work was stressful like it normally is, but then that kind of disappeared even though I’m sure it won’t last for long. I did have a little less time to game which wasn’t the plan but it happens. I upgraded my PS4’s hard drive to an external one which was interesting and fun. I thought that meant that I would be playing every single game that I had lying around but that wasn’t the case. All in all though, I had a pretty decent month, so let’s see how I did with my goals.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 74
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 75
It seems like the bigger the games I play, the harder a time I have getting the platinum trophy. I shouldn’t say that I have a harder time getting them, it just takes longer. The only platinum I was able to get this month was from Horizon Zero Dawn which was a surprise because that game was pretty huge. So while I only got one platinum this month, it was still a win because it was for a huge game.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,215
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,319
This was as struggle this month as I barely got over 100 trophies. This is mainly because I haven’t been playing the amount of games that I’ve been playing in the past. Not for lack of trying, but just because there are times when I concentrate on one games and this is one of those times. I still have more than 1,000 trophies to go in order to reach my goal by the end of the year. That’s a lot of trophies. Clearly you can probably tell that I don’t really think this stuff out when I plan it, but it’ll be fun to see if I can reach this goal.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 111
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 112
Focusing on only 1-2 games at a time also puts a real damper on this goal as well for obvious reasons. While 150 isn’t so far away, I know that some of the games that I’ve completed will probably get DLC making this get set back even more. It’s an uphill battle, but I think I can do it this year.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.44%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.61%
An actual win for this month because I totally thought this number would drop drastically. I’m happy that it didn’t. Although it didn’t make the progress that I had hoped for, as long as this number doesn’t go down I’m a pretty happy camper. 75% seems like a really far away number, but I’ll continue to strive for it.

Yeah, this number didn’t go anywhere this month. Not from a lack of trying because I really do want to get back into some of the games that I talked about in this blog. It’s just a lack of time since I only have so much time to game each week. I always find myself going to the newer games instead of revisiting some of the older ones because I just don’t have enough time to play them all. Ah, adult problems. I’ll get something for this goal this year though…eventually.

This number stayed the same this month because it was a month of new games only. I only played games that I had recently purchased and really had no time to work on my backlog. I was making some progress, but that’s probably going to come to a standstill at least for now anyway. I think once I get all of these new games out of my system and are done with them I’ll go back to playing games that have been sitting around for a while.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 2

No pre-orders this month as the rest of the gaming year is kind of up in the air at the moment. I’ve been waiting for the new South Park game, but that release date keeps changing. I really don’t want to lock it down until I know that it has a definite release date. I can see myself pre-ordering this game a week before it comes out just to make sure that it doesn’t change again. Other than that, I’m thinking it’s going to be a some what dull year when it comes to pre-orders or they’re all going to hit at once and I’ll go over my limit. Right now I’m happy to be sitting at 2 out of the 5 I had planned.

And that was my month. Not that exciting at all and I think that this month will probably be more of the same. I’m really enjoying my time in Andromeda despite the obvious reasons and I’m pretty sure that after I finish my first playthrough I’ll probably start another. I am going to try and make time for some other games this month but I have no idea how many of these goals I’ll be able to work on. I’ll let you know how everything worked out for me next month.

Gaming Goals for the New Year – February 2017 – UPDATE

The posting of this blog means that yes indeed another month has just gone right on by. Even though I was a good gamer and worked on my goals this past month, not a lot happened because I was basically out of commission for a little while due to the flu. I know, I know, excuses, excuse, but seriously even with all of that I was still pretty pleased with the progress that I made. So let’s see how I did with my goals.

Gaming Goals for 2017

Have a total of 100 platinum trophies.

– Starting # of Platinum Trophies: 71
– Ending # of Platinum Trophies: 74
I’ve been pretty happy with my platinum trophy progress so far this year. Last month I was able to get 3, this month I was able to get 3. It’s not bad seeing that I don’t have all the time in the world anymore to work on getting platinum trophies. Still, it’s an improvement from getting nothing. Hopefully I can keep going at this rate.

Have a total of 8,500 trophies.

– Starting # of Trophies: 7,078
– Ending # of Trophies: 7,215
While I didn’t get the amount of trophies that I did last month, I still went over the 100 mark and that’s good enough for me. I do have to say though that I miss those days of being able to easily go over the 200 mark and almost reach the 300 mark when it comes to trophies for the month.

Have 150 games completed at 100%

– Starting # of Games 100% Complete: 110
– Ending # of Games 100% Complete: 111
Guess what got DLC this past month? That’s right, Watch Dogs 2 meaning that this number went down, but then went up as I did complete some games to 100%. While I really completed 2 games to 100% only one gets added to my total as one was taken away from me. It’s ok though because 150 is right around the corner.

Have an overall completion rating of 75%

– Starting Completion Rate: 53.20%
– Ending Completion Rate: 53.44%
I really thought this number was going to be destroyed this month and the progress that I made just vanish into thin air. Mostly because I started a bunch of random games after being sick and then was like, “well there goes my completion.” Luckily though a lot of the games I started I was able to actually play and progress in them making this number actually go up which makes me very happy.

I really didn’t think this one would be that hard, but I’m seeing that it’s probably my hardest goal yet. The only time I turned on my PS3 in the past month was to make sure it still worked because it’s been that long since I turned it on. Even though I set my goal real low, it feels like I set it to 100 instead of 10.

I was able to start and finish LEGO Jurassic World this month which I bought during one of the holiday sales last year. Totally meets my requirement for this goal and at least now two games are out of my backlog. Sure there are a bunch more, but two is a hell of a lot of progress. This month will be tricky though as I stick to mostly new games that are being released, but you never know.

Only pre-order 5 new games and save the rest for Black Friday and holiday sales.

– Starting Number of Pre-Orders: 1

This past month I finally pre-ordered Mass Effect: Andromeda. It was a given that it was going to happen but I was really dragging my feet on it and then some of the trailers just blew me away and I became super excited and wondered why the hell I didn’t pre-order this game yet. There are only three more pre-orders left I my spot and I’m not sure what’s going to be filling them especially since some release dates keep changing. If I hit 5 then great, if I go below 5 even better.

That was February. A pretty good month even though I was a little side tracked. This upcoming month is going to be difficult. I still want to play For Honor, which I’ve been playing like crazy along with Horizon: Zero Dawn and Mass Effect: Andromeda. I’m not even sure my PS4 can fit those three games at once, but hopefully it can. As always I’ll let you know my progress on these goals next month.
