Word Search by POWGI Review (PS4 & PS Vita)

Word Search by POWGI

This is one of those games that caught me by surprise because I just happened to see the trophy list on PSNProfiles.com before the game was released. The cute little doggie in the game picture made me click on the trophy list and the rest was just a given. I purchased this game day one along with my buddy @tjarvinen86 and had a friendly little competition to see who could get the platinum trophy first. He totally won, so kudos to him and after some time, well a lot of time, I finally got the platinum trophy for this game, so it’s time for a review.

Word Search by POWGI is exactly what the title says that it is. It’s a word search game made up of 324 puzzles. All the puzzles are different and you’ll have to find all different kinds of words within each puzzle.

I really enjoyed this game on the PS4, I’ll get to the PS Vita in a minute. This was just one of those games that I could relax and play. Games like this are good for stressful days as you really don’t have to think about anything while you play. For me, the background music got super annoying super fast so that was when I would just turn the background music off and put my headphones on and play. That way I had my own music and a way to destress, not to mention the puzzles were fairly simple.

The playability of this game for the PS4, still getting to the PS Vita in a minute, was super simple. All you had to do was scan the board for the word you were looking for, click the first or last letter, and highlight the word. If you had the right word, you received an orange highlight and you were good to go. There were also no bugs or glitches which was just so relieving after playing games that were plagued with bugs and glitches.

The graphics for this game were super simple. I did find that playing on the PS4 put a little strain on my eyes because of the way the board filled my TV screen, also the orange highlight on the words became a little too much at times and an option to change the highlight color would have been nice.

Both the PS4 and PS Vita version of this game had the same exact 34 trophies to get and all you had to do to get them was play the game and finish all of the puzzles. There were some special trophies based on playing style, but there wasn’t anything super difficult about them making this double platinum game super easy.

PS Vita Version

I also enjoyed this game on the PS Vita. For me, it was a great way to be productive while I watched a really boring TV show or movie. All I had to do was hook up my Vita and play. The game doesn’t really require you to pay that much attention to it so you can multitask while playing.

The playability of this game relied solely on the touch screen and this was one of the games where I wish it didn’t. I suffer from fat fingers and trying to highlight some of the words just didn’t work at times as I just highlighted the wrong word and had to do it again. This made for some rage inducing moments and just the option to use the controls on the PS Vita instead of the touch screen would have been nice.

I found the graphics to be more fitting for the PS Vita version of this game. The sizing for the board was perfect and put less strain on my eyes than the PS4 version. A change to a different highlight option would have been nice for this version as well as there was way too much orange on the screen depending on the puzzle size.

There was no multiplayer for this game, but for the PS4 version, there was some good old fashioned couch co-op for up to 4 people. This was a neat addition, but I didn’t utilize it as I haven’t found my player two yet. I’m sure she’s out there somewhere just waiting to play word search games with me.

Overall I give this game a 4.5 out of 5.

What’s Great:
+ On both the PS4 and PS Vita this is a cool little game that you can play to help destress yourself or to multitask with because it doesn’t require a lot of attention.
+ Playability on the PS4 is good and there are no bugs or glitches on the PS4 or PS Vita version of this game.
+ The graphics for this game are simple and the game doesn’t try to be something that it’s not. The graphics were better sized for the PS Vita though.

What’s Not So Great:
Fat fingers and touch screen only play style on the PS Vita just does not work at all.
The board sizing on the PS4 version can be a little off at times as it tries to fit your TV screen. This made the game difficult to play at times as your eyes start to strain. Not to mention the orange highlight that was covering the found words was just a little too much orange and it didn’t help that the color couldn’t be changed.

For the very low price of $7.99 you get both the PS4 and PS Vita version of this game and that’s great value right there. Especially if you’re a trophy hunter. Even if you aren’t a trophy hunter, this is still a great relaxing game to play. It suffers from a few mishaps, but nothing major. If you’re a fan of word search games or if you’re looking for a small relaxing game, look no further because this is that game.

This Week in Trophies 01-27-2019 – 02-02-2019

There really wasn’t a lot of time to game this week because once again life just gets in the way. I really feel like I need some time to just be able to game and relax, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to be happening any time soon. I’ll get whatever I can get though and this week I got a platinum trophy, so let’s take a look at my trophies for the week.

Word Search by POWGI (PS Vita) – 85%

This remains my game of choice as I watch some episodes of Gotham every once in a while or some other boring TV show that I feel the need to watch but not really pay attention to. Anyway, I was able to lock down two more trophies for this game and should have the platinum trophy soon.

Word Search by POWGI (PS4) – 100%

I finally got the platinum trophy for this game this week, so that means that I won’t be saying much about this game at all until my review. This is still a few weeks away and I’m hoping that I can get the platinum for the PS Vita version at the same time so that I can combine the reviews.

There you have it, a total of 12 trophies for the week, but at least one was a platinum. I want to make solid gaming plans this week, but I just can’t. It’s really impossible for me to lay out any kind of schedule for gaming at this point in time so I’m just going to take it as it comes and I’ll let you know how I did next week.

This Week in Trophies 01-20-2019 – 01-26-2019

After last week’s lackluster show of trophies, I knew I had to amp things up a little this week, even if I didn’t have a lot of time to play. Working, taking on extra side work, and getting tattooed all in one week take up a lot of time that I would usually spend gaming, but I think that I did a decent job this week so let’s take a look at the trophies I was able to get.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – 89%

I completed the second episode of DLC for this game this week, which means I can’t speak of it here and took on some additional feats in the process which gained me a few new trophies for this game.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season – 48%

While I finished the episode, I didn’t get all of the trophies for it. Not really a big surprise as it seems like this game will have to be replayed to be able to get all of the trophies anyway. I really enjoyed the episode though and if you want to watch me play it and see what choices I made, you can do so by clicking this link.

I’m so close to finishing this game and I really can’t wait to get the platinum. I feel like not getting the platinum is holding me back from finishing Word Sudoku because for some odd reason I feel like I should get the platinum in this game first before moving onto Word Sudoku. I said it was weird, I never said it made sense.

Word Sudoku by POWGI – 76%

I played a little bit more of this game, but as I mentioned before I’m staying away from the platinum for now until I can get the platinum in Word Search. Overall though I am enjoying this game and find it both challenging and enjoyable at the same time.

WWE 2K19 – 91%

I won my PPV event thingie and got the trophy that I’ve been waiting over a month to get. I know I’m only four trophies away from the platinum, but I really feel done with this game. That can always change and it usually does, but we’ll just have to wait and see how I feel about this game going forward.

WWE 2K19

I’ve become bored with Gotham and am pretty glad that it’s in it’s last season so while I watch I’ve been playing this game slowly. There have been a couple of oh shit moments on Gotham, but not enough that I want to put down my PS Vita completely and just watch. Anyway, I was able to get a few trophies this week because of that.

And there you have it, a total of 25 trophies for the week. A nice decent week considering that I only got 7 trophies last week. I want to do better this week and I really hope that I can. My plan is to continue with Word Search on both PS4 and PS Vita hoping that either this week or next week I can get the platinum so then I can get the platinum in Word Sudoku. I also plan on playing the new episode of Life is Strange 2 and continuing to play some Fallout 76. I might even start a new game this week so I’ll let you know how everything turns out next week.

This Week in Trophies 01-13-2019 – 01-19-2019

This week was just one of those awful weeks when it came to trophies. Just awful. I don’t know how else to describe it really. It’s one of those weeks where I didn’t even get enough trophies to warrant a blog, but here it is. The only good thing worth mentioning was that I was able to get my first platinum trophy of the year. So, let’s take a look at my pathetic trophy count for the week.

Dying Light – 71%

I did it! I finally got the platinum trophy for this game and it only took almost three years to do so! While I won’t say much about this game right now because a review is coming, I know I’m still backlogged with the reviews, but I will say that I enjoyed the game but ended up hating it by the time I was finished.

This was my in between game again this week and I made some progression on it. Unlike the other games by POWGI, this one you have to play each and every puzzle in the game to get the trophies for it so I still have a lot of puzzles to go but I’ll get to all of them eventually.

Word Search by POWGI

There you have it, a lousy 6 trophies this week. Yes, I say lousy even though one of them was a platinum trophy. Hopefully this will change in the upcoming week as I plan on playing the new episode of The Walking Dead, the new episode of DLC from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which has already given me some grief, and hopefully get a new trophy in WWE 2K19 because it’s PPV week! I’ll probably play some other games in between so come back next week to see how I did.

This Week in Trophies 01-06-2019 – 01-12-2019

I have to say that this week was kind of a blur to me as I really have no idea what the hell went on for about half of it. I worked a hell of a lot, I feel like I played a lot too, but the only way to prove that s by showing off my trophy gains for the week. So, let’s get to it and see what trophies I was able to get this week.

Fallout 76 – 28%

I hit a couple of snags with this game this week as the game locked up quite a few times when loading and it made me a little bitter about this game. What made me absolutely salty about this game though was that I was hunted and killed in my camp, when I was scrapping all of my stuff which means that all of my junk fell and my killers picked it up and ran. By the time I got to them and killed them in an effort to get my stuff back, they either didn’t have it or just left so that my bag of goodies didn’t drop. This made me pissed as it takes a while in this game to collect stuff and scrap is to that you can build and do other things and it’s like I have to start over now.

Word Search by POWGI (PS4) – 61%

At times I didn’t have much time to game this week and this was a good fill in for that, or I wasn’t in the right mind to actually play a full game so I used this game as a chance to just kick back and relax while I listened to some music. In the process I also got some trophies so it was a win-win.

Word Sudoku by POWGI (PS4) – 63%

Desperately needing a game like Word Search, I decided to give this game a try since it was sitting on my system and found it to actually be fun. It challenged me and I really enjoyed that because it takes the classical Sudoku but puts a spin on it by using words instead of numbers. You can switch it to numbers mode, but it’s far more interesting in word mode than numbers mode. I’m enjoying this game and am well on my way to getting the platinum for this game before moving on the PS Vita version of this game.

Youtubers Life – 17%

I ran into another problem with this game this week as it seems like when you reach a certain point in the gamers path that you just don’t get what you’re supposed to be getting out of this game. This is disappointing as it’s basically a dumbed down version of The Sims. I decided to start on a new career path so we’ll see how it goes.

Word Search by POWGI (PS Vita) – 73%

I used this game to play something while watching some TV this week and was able to get a trophy out of it. Compared to the PS4 version of this game, I’m a lot closer to getting the platinum trophy for this game which won’t be that bad once it finally happens. I’m actually looking forward to it so that I can remove this game from my Vita and replace it with Word Sudoku by POWGI.

There you have it a total of 31 trophies this week. Not a bad week, but not my best week either. I really thought I got a little bit more in the trophy department, but like I said before this week has kind of been a blur for me as I’ve been working a lot and took on a few side projects to make ends meet. That being said, next week promises to be more of the same so I’m going to continue playing these games basically and see where that leads me. I’ll let you know how things turn out next week.

This Week in Trophies 12-30-2018 – 01-05-2019

In an effort to make gaming fun again this year, which is one of my major goals for the year, I basically played whatever I wanted to this week from my catalog of games. That being said, I had a really fun and productive week. I did all of that and still was able to get a nice amount of trophies, so let’s take a look and see what trophies I was able to get this week.

Dying Light – 65%

I busted my ass when it came to this game this week and it payed off. So I finished the story of this game, which was mediocre at best, and am now trying to get the remainder of the trophies which is turning out to be a real grind and not really that fun. I’ll give this game some more time and try to get the remainder of the trophies before calling it a day with this game whether or not I get the platinum. A big thank you to my buddy @tjarvinen86 who’s been playing this game with me even though he already has his platinum trophy.

Fallout 76 – 20%

I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever to play this game and when I finally got the chance to play, I have to say that I just fell in love with this game. Yes, it has some bugs and glitches, but it’s nothing like what other Bethesda games don’t already have in them. They’re the normal bugs and glitches that you can find in a Bethesda game so it’s not anything that’s unheard of. I like the feel of this game and I even enjoy the fact that it’s online. I have nothing bad to say about this game so far.

I’m slowly making my way through this game and I’m enjoying the time that it’s taking to play it. It’s one of those games that I play when I have some extra time and need something to do and when I get the platinum trophy for this game it’ll just happen. It’s not a game that I feel the need to rush and get the platinum.

WWE 2K19 – 88%

Yes I despise this game and it’s in no way fun, but I really want to get the PPV trophy so I’m still playing and still trying to level up as much as possible before January 23rd so that I can beat someone in the MP during the PPV and get the trophy. After that I might or might not give up depending on how many trophies I need to finish the game. Other than that I think this game is horrible and will be the last WWE game that I ever buy.

WWE 2K19

Youtubers Life – 11%

I picked this game up on a whim because it looked like The Sims, but instead I got to make YouTube video’s for a living, like I try to do now just more successfully. So far I’m having a really great time playing. There as a little hitch that took place when I first started playing that didn’t allow me to level up and although I lost some time playing when the game did this because I had to re-start, things seem to be working now and I’m OK with that at the moment.

Word Search By POWGI (PS Vita) – 70%

I was able to get one trophy for this game this week as I played some PS Vita while watching something so boring on TV that I don’t even remember what I was watching. I expect this number to go up as I watch a little more TV this week than I did the previous week and while I watch I’ll probably be playing this game.

Now for the big drum roll because my total trophies for the week was 40. Not a bad haul when it comes to trophies. I had a lot of fun playing video games this week which hasn’t been happening as of late and I’ve been having an absolute blast streaming for fun. Who knew that any of this could be fun. Anyway, I’m going to continue on the same path for this upcoming week as I play some more Dying Light, if anyone is interested in playing this game with me I have a gaming session set up on PSNProfiles.com, some more Fallout 76, and some more Youtubers Life. I’ll probably play some other stuff and I’ll let you know how everything went next week.

This Week in Trophies 12-23-2018 – 12-29-2018

This was an OK week when it came to gaming. I’ve keep my promise of not starting any new games until the new year and it’s kind of making me miserable as I play some games that I just don’t like. This last full week of the year has seemed more like a chore than anything else and I’ll be happy when the year is over and I can unveil my brand new goal for next year that will make gaming feel like less of a chore. Anyway, onto the trophies.

Dying Light – 36%

I’m really glad my buddy @tjarvinen86 pushed me to play this game again because I’m having a great time doing so. I think that when I first started playing it, there were a lot of reasons that I don’t want to get into that made me stop. Mostly other people, but I found that playing this game again is fun and I really missed out so I’m enjoying my time as I play this again.

Gems of War – 72%

As you might have guessed, I stopped playing this game a long time ago, but I kept my guild open. At the urging of a fellow guild member, I had to log in in order to kick someone from the guild. This prompted me to use a few keys that I had to open some chests and it popped a trophy. All that just to kick out an inactive guild member. And no, the member was not me.

I used this game as my chill out game this week because with the holidays this week has been stressful. I like to play this game because I can shut off the background music put on my headphone and listen to some music that I want to listen to and just not have to think. It’s a relaxing little thing and it beats the next game which has made my life a living hell.

WWE 2K19 – 79%

This is the last WWE game that I will ever get as this game is such a piece of crap. I absolutely hate this game, but I continue to play because I want to be able to get whatever trophies I can now and just be done with this game. It’s such a chore to play and it’s not even fun to play online. That being said I am only 6 trophies away from the platinum trophy and at this point I really don’t care if I get it or not, I’m just trying to finish up the multiplayer trophies and be done with this game. Oh and a huge shout out to CHRISTONTHEGOD who called me a fucking bitch when I beat him because he was too busy showboating outside of the ring that when he tried to get back in I punched him in the face and he fell to the ground for the count out. I swear the community for this game is extremely toxic and I’ve been called so many things in so many languages that I’ve just about had it. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but if you’re going to lose at least do it with some dignity.

I am so look forward to this upcoming week as I continue some games and start some other games that I’ve been waiting to start for a while now. I’ll let you know how everything went and what I decided to start playing next week. That being said I hope that everyone has a happy and safe new year. This Week in Trophies 09-30-2018 – 10-06-2018

This was another awesome week of gaming for me as I crushed it again in the trophy department. I really had a great time gaming this week and even though I crushed it in the trophy department, I still really wish that I had more time to game. Doesn’t every adult though? Anyway onto the trophies that I was able to get for the week.

Marvel’s Spider-Man – 100%

I finally got the platinum trophy for this game. This was a huge success for me and I can’t wait to talk more about this game in my upcoming review this Wednesday.

I was extremely hyped about this game and when I finally got it on Friday I couldn’t wait to play it. Turns out the hype is real and I am really loving each and every aspect of this game. I can’t play enough of it and at this point it feels like I have to force myself to play other games that I was playing in order to finish them up when all I really want to do is play this game 24/7.

I really don’t know what to think about this game. When I’m playing it I feel like I can’t put it down, when I’m not playing it, it’s the last thing on my mind. I’m on the fence with this game and I think I just need to progress through the story a little bit more and see how things go.

Word Search by POWGI (PS Vita) – 67%

I’m slowly making my way through this game and heading towards the platinum trophy. Since I’m playing on the PS Vita it makes it a little easier to play since I’m just basically playing whenever I’m watching something boring on TV or something that I’m really not into. It’s a great game for that.

And that’s it for this week, a total of 42 trophies which makes me extremely happy since by the end of the month this is going to completely drop to nothing as I head off to Spooky Empire, which promises to be the darker side of comic-con. That’s not until the end of the month though so I have plenty of time to make up for all the gaming that won’t be done that weekend. For the upcoming week I’m going to try and mix things up and play some Assassin’s Cred Odyssey, Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I want to give these games some equal time and attention so we’ll see how that goes and I’ll let you know my progress on the trophies next week.

This Week in Trophies 09-23-2018 – 09-29-2018

Can I say that I’m pretty damn impressed with myself this week when it comes to trophies? You’ll know why by the end of this blog when I give you the actual number of trophies, but it was just pretty amazing. I couldn’t believe the final count myself because I haven’t had a week like this in forever. Anyway, onto the trophies!

Far Cry 3: Classic Edition – 17%

I bought and started this game last week because to be honest it’s probably one of my favorite Far Cry games. This is most likely because it was my first Far Cry game that I played on the PS3. So a little nostalgia came into the mix here as I decided to buy and play this game again. I’m having a pretty good time playing this game again and I’m pretty happy with the progress that I was able to make during one gaming session. I can’t wait to continue to play this game and get the platinum for the second time.

Life is Strange 2 – 10%

I started this game really late last night and wasn’t able to fully complete the first episode, and by that I mean that I wasn’t able to go back and grab a few collectibles that I missed so I’ll be doing that this week. I’m still not sure what to think about this game at the moment and am going to need some time to process before writing my review of this game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man – 57%

I would say that I’m progressing nicely on this game and I’m happy with my progression. As far as the game itself goes, I’m kind of on the borderline when it comes to this game. I think that maybe I’m not a part of the huge Spider-Man hype that has been going on for a while and I just basically jumped into this game blindly and it makes it a little less enjoyable for me. Don’t get me wrong I love swinging around NYC and seeing all the sights and how well they were done, but the storyline for this game is falling a little flat for me.

I really had no intention of playing this game this week. It’s not like I had time to jump back into my game and actually play for an endless amount of hours, but someone on my friends list this week did and I was able to reap some of the rewards. So yeah, that’s basically what these trophies were, the hard work and dedication put in by someone else and I just happened to jump into their game, got my trophies and ran out.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider – 8%

I picked this game up last week when I went through my little binge buying state and I started playing. At the moment, while I’m enjoying the little time that I had to play this game I’m completely lost on the story. Guess I should have finished Rise of the Tomb Raider before starting this game. As I progress I think I’ll do fine though. We’ll see how it goes as it’s kind of going down the same path as the other newer Tomb Raiders and it’s getting a little boring even at the beginning.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season – 31%

I played the second episode of this game this week, but unfortunately did not actually get all the trophies so like the first episode I’ll have to go back and play again. That being said I really did enjoy this episode and I’m really sad that Telltale is closing its doors and that this game may never be finished. I know I’ve complained about Telltale plenty of times with their wonky quick time events, crashes, horrible loading times, and the list can go on, but they were a decent company that made some pretty memorable games and they will be very much missed as a lot of their games go unfinished.

Do you know what this game is great for on the PS4? Playing while you’re on hold with the cable company because your internet isn’t working. I was on hold with the cable company a lot this week as I had problems with my internet and needing to keep myself busy I played this game. Turned out to be good in my favor as I was at least able to get a trophy in.

Do you know what this game is great for on the PS Vita? Playing while you watch a bunch of TV shows that no longer hold your interest because it’s TV season again. So many times this week when I watched TV I found myself picking up my Vita and playing because a lot of my favorite shows have become boring and unwatchable for another season so instead I played this. Turned out to be a good thing because I was able to get 12 trophies for this game.

Are you ready for my total number of trophies this week? I certainly wasn’t when I first seen it, but it’s 68. 68 trophies in the matter of one week! This is one of the best trophy hunting weeks I’ve had in the longest times. I’m super happy with this number and for next week, I’m going to try and do more of the same with less interruptions to my streaming. For this upcoming week I plan on continuing to play and maybe finishing Marvel’s Spider-Man, continuing to play Far Cry 3: Classic Edition, continuing to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and starting Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at end of the week. I’ll let you know how everything goes next week.

This Week in Trophies 09-09-2018 – 09-15-2018

I honestly don’t know how to feel about this week when it comes to trophies. I feel like I gamed a decent amount of time, but the only thing I accomplished was getting one platinum trophy. While there is nothing wrong with that, this is one of those weeks where I felt like I was slacking again and I hate feeling like that. Anyway, onto the trophies.

Destiny 2 – 2%

I’ve been hitting this game pretty hard since it was released for free with PS+. I’m not really sure why since I sure as hell don’t like the main story or know what’s going on. I think maybe it has to do with the fact that I can just play and it helps relieve my mind of the things going on around me that I really can’t control. Anyway, this is a great game for that and I’ll continue to play until I get bored with it.

Gems of War – 77%

I don’t know why I keep wasting my time with this game. I spent the whole day yesterday getting two trophies and I’m not please with myself for doing so. There are so many other games that I could be playing, should be playing, and yet this game just lingers there because I hate that it’s incomplete. It’s just one of those games that I feel like I’ll be playing forever even though I don’t want to.

I finally got the chance to play the first episode of this game and I’m not sure how to feel about it yet. I’m kind of torn especially since I didn’t get all of the trophies which means I have to go back and play again in order to write my review. I’m just not sure what to think about this yet, but I think maybe a second playthrough will help clear some of that up, or at least I’m hoping that it will.

The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – Collection – 100%

I finally completed this game and was able to get the platinum trophy after 4 very long weeks of playing. That being said, I won’t be saying much until my review for the game which will come out next Wednesday.

I used this game as a little filler of a game this week and was able to at least get one trophy for it, so I guess that’s something. While I’m not really dedicated to playing this game, it’s nice to use as a time passer when I really don’t want to play something intense.

That was it for this week, a total of 17 trophies, one of which was a platinum. That has to count for something right? As for this week, I feel a little lost when it comes to gaming. I’m going to try and go back and get some God of War trophies, maybe get in another playthrough of The Walking Dead: The Final Season, and go from there. I’m not really sure what to expect from this week, but I’ll let you know how things go next week.
