I Never Finished…XCOM: Enemy Unknown…Because

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

I have to say that even to this day, I will still play this game every now and again because I really do love this game to pieces. I’ll never finish it, for reason’s I’ll explain in a little bit, but it’s just one of those games that keeps me coming back no matter how many times I play. Instead of me going on and on and gushing about this game here, let’s get on with it and see why I never finished it.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a strategy based game where the aliens have invaded and it’s up to you to lead a team of XCOM agents to victory against the aliens. You’ll be doing this in full strategy mode though as you play this sort of chess game with the aliens. Not only that, but you’ll get to build your base of operation. There you’ll research these aliens that have invaded, gain intel, and power up your soldiers. Will you be able to take down the alien resistance or will you lose it all? That’s the main point of the game and believe me, it’s no easy task.

I want to say right off the bat that even though I love this game, it is the hardest game that I’ve ever played. I mean seriously, no game that I’ve played since playing this game has been able to match the difficulty that is XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Like I said though, even though it’s difficult and even on the easiest mode you can easily just lose with the blink of an eye if you make the wrong choices, I still love this game. I love the challenge it presents each and every time that I play and I’ve played a lot. No matter how much I play though, this is just one of those games that I’ll never finish and I think my trophies for this game have basically peaked since I’ve only been able to fully complete the game once. So there you have it, this game is basically way too difficult and because of that it will forever remain on this list.

Out of the 51 base trophies for this game, 56 if you count the DLC, I was able to lock down and secure 30 of those trophies. Being as how the game is really that difficult, it was no easy feat and I’m pretty happy with the trophies that I have considering that the platinum trophy for this game has a statistic of 0.96% (PSN Profiles) / 0.4% (PSN). I would say that I’m not the only one who didn’t finish this game. I’m missing a bunch of random trophies that you get for doing random things and I’m also missing the trophies for beating the game on the different difficulties. Other than that, I’ve pretty much got done everything else.

Probability of this game getting played again…5 out of 5.

So while I know that I will never get another trophy for this game again, I still hook it up from time to time because I enjoy it so much. Do I end up dying a lot, sure, but it’s one of those games where I don’t care. I think that every time I fail it only makes me better. Not better enough to actually get all the trophies for this game, but better enough that I don’t make the same stupid mistakes during my next playthrough.

Now it’s your turn. Did you love this chess with aliens type of game or did you hate it? Have the platinum trophy and want to brag about it because you sure as hell deserve to? Do all of your bragging and loving and hating on this game down in the comments section below and for next week, a game that I thought I would absolutely love and had been waiting a hell of a long time to play. Unfortunately, it ended up on this list so I’ll let you know why I never finished Mirror’s Edge.

Weekly Trophy Tip – XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Flight of the Valkyries

When I seen that this trophy had a Very Rare rating, I just knew that I had to feature this in my weekly trophy tip section. This trophy is just so super easy that anyone playing this game can and should get this trophy. There is no reason why anyone who has ever played this game should not have this trophy. It was seriously one of the first trophies I got for this game. Not to mention that the overall trophies for this game are super hard to get and there really aren’t many easy ones. Why not just get this easy one out of the way and add another trophy to your collection?

XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Flight of the Valkyries
Win a mission with an all-female squad. Single player only. – Bronze
TIP: If you don’t already have 4 female soldiers, use your in game money to purchase them at the start of the game. All you need is 4 and since you only need them once you don’t even have to use them if you want to after you get the trophy! Now that you have 4 female soldiers pick all of them for a mission. Play the mission as you normally would since they’re really the same as the male soldiers. Finish the mission and get the trophy.

It’s really that simple. There’s not many trophies that I can say are that simple, but this is one of them. If you have this game and you haven’t got this trophy I urge you to go and get it now. It’ll take 5 minutes of your time. If you’re even thinking about playing this game then make sure that you get this trophy.

Have anything additional to add to my tip? Let me know in the comments section below and I’ll add it in and give you credit. Need help with a specific trophy? I’m always looking for my next weeks tip so throw out some suggestions in the comments section. If I have the trophy I’ll post a tip on how to get it.
