Deep Dish Vegetable Pizza

Pizza is one of those must have foods for gamers. I mean come on, it’s pizza and pizza goes great with games. Not one who likes to order out every time I have a craving for pizza, I came up with my own recipe that was just as quick and as easy as ordering out. Plus you can basically put whatever you want on it, so let’s get started.

Here’s what you’re going to need:
• 1 16oz Mozzarella Cheese block (You can use shredded if you want, but I like using the block)
• 1 8oz Ricotta Cheese
• 1 Small Green Pepper
• 1 Small Onion
• 1 Small Tomato
• 1 Small Broccoli
• Basil
• Oregano
• Parsley
• Mrs. Dash Hot and Spicy
• Salt
• 1 Pillsbury Thin Crust Pizza Dough

To make this deep dish pizza, I like to use my trusty casserole dish. I don’t know what I would do without this since I make so different meals in it and it provides easy cleanup. If you don’t have a casserole dish you can use any pan that you want as long as it’s deep. Spray the bottom and the sides of your pan with some Pam with flour. If you don’t have Pam with flour you can also use butter or some regular oil. Use your Pillsbury Thin Crust Pizza Dough and lay it out in your casserole dish. You’ll have some overlap so get creative with how you fold over the sides of your dough. Once you do this go ahead and pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees.

Once your oven is pre-heated go ahead and put your dough in the oven so that you can pre-cook it. You’ll want to cook it from 15-20 minutes or until it is golden brown and firm. For this to work the dough has to be firm once it comes out of the oven. Now while this is cooking go ahead and start cutting up your vegetables and steaming your broccoli. You can cut them as big or as small as you want, I usually go with big so that you can taste them on the pizza. Make sure to cut up your broccoli before steaming into decent size pieces and stop steaming them when they are fork tender. You don’t want them to be in anyway soggy when you add them to your pizza. At this time you can also cut up your Mozzarella cheese if you went with the block.

Once your dough is finished cooking it’s time to prepare your Ricotta cheese. Set the dough to the side to cool off a little, but leave your oven on. Empty your Ricotta cheese into a bowl and add some seasoning to it. To flavor the Ricotta cheese I like to use salt, basil, parsley, oregano, and some Mrs. Dash Hot and Spicy. I flavor everything to taste and you should to so don’t be afraid to add whatever kind of seasoning you want to your Ricotta cheese and give it a taste. Once you have that done and your dough is cool it’s time to start making your pizza.

Spread your Ricotta cheese and seasoning mix onto the dough so that it is spread out even. Once you do that you can go about the next step one of two ways. You can either place your vegetables down on the pizza and then put the Mozzarella cheese on top or you can put the Mozzarella cheese down first and then your vegetables. The choice is yours. Personally I like to put the vegetables down first and then the Mozzarella cheese to prevent any of the vegetables from falling off.

Once you have your pizza ready go ahead and put it back in the oven for 15-30 minutes. While this is cooking go ahead and start up your game of choice and get to playing. You’ll known your pizza is done when the cheese is nice and melted and you don’t have to worry about the dough because you already pre-cooked it.

Let your pizza cool off for a little before finally cutting into it and serving yourself. Being able to make your own pizza with the things on it that you like without all of the delivery charges and extra charges for additional toppings is great for any day of the week. Plus, leftovers can always stay for a couple of days so you can always warm up this quick meal and then get back to some gaming.
